the last time I was there a little over a week ago I got hit 3 times buy 2 people having a doul with them outside of space mountain and no I was not hit hard at all just a little annoyed...

You were lucky.

I saw on TV once where a guy got hit by a light saber, and he literally DISAPPEARED. His robe collapsed onto the ground in a pile. It was scary.

I think the blaster/pirate gun ban is totally ridiculous in the first place...

Is the pirate gun ban real? I've been hearing this for years, yet I see the guns there every year.

It was recently implemented along with the Star Wars blasters and various similar items. They have all been removed from sale.

After the recent TSA debacle over a buzz light year blaster, I think disney decided they just wanted out of the PR business around guns.

They are allowed in and sold in park, but they are not supposed to be opened in the park. We were told that when we purchased ours. Now, I'm assuming that as a prop during a photo shoot, it would be okay, but walking around the park - no.

Yup my 5 year old nephew built one in December and the cm gave him some sort of strict warning about opening it in the park when she put the tape on the end. He nearly had a heart attack when the tape came loose and demanded we go back to the store and get in re-taped. It was really cute. He built a double ended monstrosity. It was nearly 6 feet tall when opened fully!

2. Light sabers are not to be extended per park officials (as courtesy to other guest)

Darn it. There goes my plan to affix my camera to the end of a light saber, for use during parades, Wishes, and while riding Big Thunder Mountain.

I reached out to Disney's chat, cast member gave me the okay for the lightsaber and said it's allowed to be extended.

Just got back from the Disney Outlet store. Guns guns everywhere. Bubble blasters as well. Some guns marked down - DS picked up a Pirates one for $3.99. Couldn't find a price on bubble blaster and store was so busy didn't want to ask.

Thanks for posting. I guess I should go by our Disney outlet and look for some bubble guns- most of the Disney ones were the same ones you can find at party stores etc., but if they are on clearance maybe the price is bette. I find it absolutely ridiculous that the bubble guns- which to me look more like a blow dryer- are banned. They look nothing like a real weapon, and aren't even intended to really emulate a weapon. It's just silly. The only bright side is that DD won't keep asking for one every time we walk by them. Not a fan of the big wands- they are typically messy and don't always work that well.

As far as taping the light sabers, they have always done that at the build your own light saber to my knowledge. When we have gotten them, they have told us that it is to secure them so they don't flop out and extend if you don't want them to. The build your own don't close as tightly as the pre-made ones with the button that they use for jedi training and sell in packages.

They might want to have a chat with the cast members working the shops that sell them. It might be nice to have the "policy" consistent across the board.

Maybe the online Chat person is the one who is incorrect. The odds are that the online Chat CM has never worked as a Merchandise CM in a shop where lightsabers are sold.
