Well, I just ordered Lightroom.

I am planning on processing many more of my photos from RAW, and hopefully tag them better.

Anyone have any helpful hints?

Lightroom Killer Tips

They have some good videos out there on this site. Also Scott Kelby just put out a Lightroom book. I have not got it yet, but maybe this weekend.
I started using this last week for my trip to Seattle, I must say it improved my workflow a lot. I was not very organized but Lightroom has helped me.
One thing that comes to mind, if you shoot RAW+JPEG, it will only import the RAW images if the JPEG's are the same name. If you want to import the JPEG's you need to put them in a separate folder in order to import them.

I have a couple more sites bookmarked at home, so I will post them when I get home tonight.

Adobe has a forum for lightroom, but honestly I expected a more user friendly forum from Adobe. The content is there, just hard to navigate.

I also frequent the photography-on-the(dot)net forums. Their Post Processing forums often have good discussions on LightRoom.

I've had if for about a month now and I'm begining to realize that I am just scratching the surface of what it can do. I think that I should probably get a book too. There is so much LightRoom can do, but they sure don't make it easy to figure it all out.

Don't stay up all night adding kewords to your old images!!!! I did not do any keywording before and now I think I have overdone it!

It will not import files of the exact same name (I mean identical name and extension, even if in different folders) into the library, make sure your file names are unique. This proved to be an issue with me from my first digital camera. We had it set at first to restart the file numbering each time we reformatted the card so I have a ton of DSC_001 (and so on) files. I had to rename them. Not that big of a deal though, just annoying. Took me about 30 minutes to sort that out then all was good.

I just picked up Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers
by Scott Kelby. Let me tell you, this is a great book for Lightroom. I only made it through the first chapter, but it has helped me a lot. Pick it up if you can. It is a $40 book, but you can get it online for about $26 with Amazon.

If you or your employer have a lynda.com membership, they have a Lightroom essentials training course. Membership is $25/month for everything they have.

I don't have a lynda membership so can't comment, but it might be worth considering. It looks like you can view the welcome video and the first two chapters for free (it's all video content, nothing written.)

Just ordered, never met a Scott Kelby book that I did not like.

I like authors that can make the dry stuff a little light hearted, but this guy's humor is even too corny for the likes of me at times.

However, I do get more out of his photoshop books than any others I have read, so I went ahead and ordered his Lightroom book too. I'm sure it will be worth the money.

Kelby does joke around in this book, but not as much as the PS books. I am in the second chapter now, and he tells it like it is.

I received my copy about 2 weeks ago and so far I am loving it. I was able to buy it under the educators discount through Adobe so I only had to pay $99.00 which was awesome.

I am using the S Kelby book a listening to lots of podcasts and reading alot and it appears this thing just goes deeper and deeper with what it can do :)

Also, Scott Kelby announced on his blog yesterday that Adobe will be releasing Lightroom update in the next month or so and it will be a free upgrade so watch your email for the announcement.
