Light Bulb Law

I just purchased 60 watt cfl bulbs from Walmart for 92 cents each. Not a whole lot more expensive then old incandescent bulbs.

They do make cfl's that are covered with more glass to make them look like regular bulbs if you don't like the twisty shape. Also, I just found some really nice cfl flame tip ones at Costco that were $3 for a 6 pack. We have also switched over our outside flood lights to cfl. They take a few minutes to warm up and come to full brightness...but my DH is very happy now that he doesn't have to grab the ladder and climb 2 stories to replace bulbs. One of them has been in for almost 2 years now.

I agree that they do put out less light then the old bulbs. So that's why I purchase them in a higher watt equivalent then the bulb I am replacing.

Check your local Home Depot. Some stores have great deals on the CFLs. I know the Philly stores has the 14 watt (60 watt) soft white 4 pack for $2.85.

They also have some individual bulbs for 47¢ each.

A 12 pack was about $5.

These are all the soft white bulbs.... and not dimmable.

They do have all different kinds of shapes....sizes....wattages.... colors....brightnesses.

The dimmable ones are much more costly. So are some of the decorative ones.

I think LED is better personally...I just don't have the $$$ it will cost to replace all my bulbs with them.

You can bring your old CFL bulbs to Home Depot to recycle them since they should NOT go in the normal trash (even broken they should be placed in a plastic bag and then recycled) They should have a bin some where in the store...ask at the service desk.
