Light as a feather, stiff as a board & Ouiji boards....

I'm a sane person and not a religious fanatic, BUT I will not allow a Ouija board in my house ever again. We did it for fun 'n games for a few times, and some really scary things happened. We were even given a name and location asked to contact this person to say her that she's better watch her back. Well, we looked it up and this person lives right where we were "told" with the Ouija board. It felt evil, like someone bad had come through and wanted us to pass this threat on to this lady.

Call me crazy, but I now believe that these plastic/paper boards can really draw some kind of spirits/demons, I don't know what the hell they are, but it's something I want nothing to do with after having several of those experiences.

Oh, by the way, that Ouija board is in a garbage dump somewhere, thanks to the NYC Sanitation dept, right where it belongs! LOL

We used to do "Light as a Feather" all the time back in the day, sometimes it would work.

Oh yeah...we did all of these games. I still won't look in the bathroom mirror when the light is off. Or when I'm not wearing makeup.

We did Light as a Feather and it worked great a lot of the time!

I have to laugh at all the Ouija board scaredy cats! We had this game in my neighborhood and played it all the time.

Also did the Bloody Mary thing...that never worked, but it was fun anyway.

I had a Ouija Board, still do actually. I like to set it out as part of my Halloween decor now, but we played with it when we were kids. I had a Magic 8 Ball too; they both hold about the same power. ;)

While I have heard of the phrase "Light as a feather, stiff as a board", I never really knew what it referred to.

And no, never touched a Ouiji board. I mean, either 1. it's fake and being manipulated by the bully and/or mean kids of the group or 2. it's messing with things Ought Left Alone (tm).

I used to enjoy playing with a Ouija board when I was a kid. I especially liked using it with my grandmothers. I never believed that it had supernatural power and always treated it as a fun novelty.

I'm genuinely surprised that people really believe these crazy things have anything to do with physical events that occur in real life. I fully support everyones' choices as to religion and whatnot, but I am not really getting how these games and toys could be considered anything but well... games and toys.

For the record, I played with an ouija board at a friends house once and it was obvious the older sister was pushing the thing around. When we tried it without her, nothing happened. And that light as a feather game... it was amazing that the lightness of the feather was directly proportionate to the number of girls at the particular slumber party.;)

My friends and I tried all those games on more than one occasion; they never once worked.

It's a bunch of BS, at least IMO.

I played all those things and, in general, nothing ever happened, except that one time when I was playing the board, it actually did seem to work. I was the most surprised person in the room...especially when everyone freaked out and dropped me. I figure I just must have been actually light enough and there were just enough of the other girls to do it...but none of our other light as a feather attempts ever worked.

The kids in my class used to play light as a feather stiff as a board all the time at recess. It almost always worked. I was usually the one that got lifted up, probably because I was the smallest kid in the class ;)

We had a ouija board growing up, I don't really remember playing with it too often though.

Never used a ouija board, or did the light as a feather thing. My parents believed these constituted "divination" which the Bible forbids.

I think it's hilarious that this thread generated an ad for curse removal! :rotfl:

While I have heard of the phrase "Light as a feather, stiff as a board", I never really knew what it referred to.
Pretty much a group of kids will stand around one kid laying on the ground. They all say "light as a feather, stiff as a board". Then they'll all try to pick up the one kid laying on the floor. Who is now supposed to be very light, but also rigid enough to be picked up laying down.

The one I played, that I remember, was "fill your head with sand".
One person laid their head in another person's lap. There's a little story that goes with it, of the sand man filling your head with sand. The person runs their finger down the middle of your face to open it up. Then packs it with sand, by patting the person's head. The longer the kid lays there the harder it is for them to pick up their head at the end.

I'll always remember playing with a homemade ouija board when I was a kid and to this day, they still sort of scare me. I know some people will always think someone else is pushing the planchette around, but I remember one instance when the thing was moving so quickly pointing at the letters it wouldn't have been possible for any person to perceive the letters and move the planchette that fast and accurately. It was whipping around the board spelling out messages and was very scary. But what I won't forget was when it got too intense that the other people moved their hands and left me alone on the thing. It didn't stop and I know I wasn't (consciously anyway) moving it.

So the question is, is it your subconsious moving it? Or something working through you? It's something we'll never know for sure.
