I know at one time many many years ago Disney had come out with a lifetime pass you could purchase. Does anyone know if Disney will ever do this again???

Once upon a time ... there was a "lifetime pass" -- I think that was when it was just Disneyland and maybe MK, though. As the kingdom got bigger, the lifetime pass idea went away. When you think about how expensive an AP is, then multiply that by the number of years any given guest is likely to visit the parks, that would be a chunk of money to hand over! (And with my luck, I'd pay it, and then get hit by a truck the next day! )

They do give out lifetime passes to the folks who hit attendance milestones. For example ... if you're the 100,000,000th person through the gates, part of the prize package is a lifetime pass. But they're not for sale.

:earsboy:

My aunt and uncle tell the story that they were offered lifetime passes right after Epcot opened. They turned them down because they thought the price was outrageous.

500.00 a person.

Hindsight is 20/20!!!!!!!!

Any guesses as to what they'd charge for a lifetime parkhopper pass today?

I'm thinking around $2,999.00 per person....

Anybody out there (besides me...) willing to pay something like that? pirate:

C'mon...hazard a guess... just for fun!!

your not alone parrothead - i would pay 3 grand each for all 3 of us for lifetime passes.

think of the value there. We generally get AP's (at around $350 per person adveraging adult and childrens prices together) once a year or every other. It would only take about 9 years to have that break even. Heck - DS is only 9, even if he decides he is "too cool" for WDW now, he could use them when he got a little older and started taking his own kids.

If they ever come out with these again.....i will seriously be considering it. (if not jumping on the oppertunity ASAP!)

HEAR US, OH GREAT DISNEY INFORMATION-GATHERERS???

Where's a survey when you need one? Who would pay what for the convenience of a lifetime pass? Or a 25-year pass? Or a 10-year pass?

We've come a long way since the letter-tickets (okay, my age is showing!) but with the advent of ATM's and POS, I'm sure the Disney imagineers could come up with more convenient means of park-entry/hopping!

Let's show some imagination!

(I think I'd draw the line at subcutaneous implants, though...)

But, would the lifetime pass only be good for the parks open at that time (EPCOT and MK)??? Hmm, still wish I had one!

We NEED more INPUT here, folks! C'mon... let's start a grass-roots initiative!

DVC'ers LOVE bargains....BUT aren't tight with the "fun money", either............

HEAR US, DISNEY WORLD??????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great idea, but think of the downside.

If Disney World DID offer a lifetime pass, then you'd have to endure the endless rhetoric of the Eisner Bashers talking about "short term profits at the expense of long term success."

Sorry, I'd rather stay out of that debate. ;)

Lets begin a list of the pro's to have a DVC members being allowed to buy a lifetime pass: Here are a few

* DVC members would go to the Disney theme parks a lot more spending their money there instead at other theme parks

* Bigger incentive for people to become DVC members

Probably be like the other passes and have to be upgraded as other attractions are added. Can you imagine, paying $4,000 for a lifetime pass and then 5 or 6 years later having to kick in another $1,000 (per pass) as another park was opened. Sure, I'd buy it!! In a second!! ::yes:: :earsboy: ::yes::

What about making that part of DVC membership's package? Add it into the cost of the membership, maybe not lifetime but how about length of membership?? At a discounted rate...

What would you be willing to pay for the privilege? What is the optimum length pass? What should it include?

Thanks for this thread. Years ago some friends told us about these lifetime passes and every time I mentioned them to someone they think I just imagined it. Good to hear other people heard about them to!! Yes I would buy them in a heartbeat. We did look into them when we first heard about them, but they had stopped them by that time. When we bought into DVC in 1991 they gave us passes (number depended on what size villa you used) until 2000. It was a great perk. It would be nice if something could be offered again.

There is someone on the DVC board that says they have one. They said that the first month or so that DVC was selling they gave away these lifetime passes when you purchased. Apparantly that quickly stopped and they started giving DVC members Ultimate Park Hoppers for Free when you stayed, but alas that has stopped now too.
