The niecelet is planning on becoming a certified lifeguard this summer (she's 16), and until recently I hadn't thought about her future work with this, but it suddenly occurred to me that if she were interested, she could work at Disney as a CM in a lifeguard position.

Is there a lot of competition for lifeguard CMs? Just curious, so I can give her a few details when she starts getting ready to get her certification and needs a little inspiration to keep her going. She started teaching swim lessons full time in the summer last year and will be lifeguarding at the pool where she teachs lessons once she's certified.

Competition wize - not tons - but it's also a seasonal position so they need more in the summer than they do in the winter. There are a couple different kinds of certification programs, I can't remember which one Disney uses, but if it's not the one she already has, then Disney will pay to get her certified in the one they use.

Disney uses Jeff Ellis and Associates to train their guards. They will pay for the training. I believe I have seen postings up on disneycareers.com for lifeguards.
