Life Vest at Castaway Cay

The vest thing is required. If you have your own snorkel gear, they will provide a vest for you to use free of charge.

I think the "free vest" deal is only for the snorkel lagoon where they keep a stack of them an stop anyone going in the lagoon without it. Don't know if they would let you take it to Serinity Bay or not (if that's where you planned on doing any snorkelling).

They are expensive, but we decided to spend the money to just get some our selves. They have those values where you blow into it to inflate it, so just like the snorkel, we prefer to have something others have not had their months on.

Where'd you get the vests? Do you have a picture of what one looks like? We are planning on bringing our own snorkel gear, but were wondering about the vests. How expensive is expensive?
Thanks for any info!

MamaGriz,

We purchased the vests at a local dive shop (i.e. the place you go for diving equipment, they have stuff for snorkeling as well).

I recall that our vests cost us about $50 or $60 a piece. A quick search on Google turned up this web page listing a snorkel vest for $30. I don't know anything about this merchant nor the quality of this vest, but I use it to give you a general idea of what price range you might find.

Thanks, we'll have a look around and see what we can find here. We could get a bit of use out of them around here, in the summer of course, not at our present 20 degree temps.

:cool2:

There was a stack of "snorkle vests" by the lifeguard stations.....the were "complimentary" if you had your own equipment. I didn't notice them on our previous 2 stops at CC but they WERE available on our 11/29/03 Eastern.
