My husbands birth father just passed away and we've discovered that he left an "accidental death" policy in our name. The doctor has ruled that his death was "complications resulting from a broken hip" that was a result of a fall in a parking lot. The doctor says that makes it an "accidental" death. Has anyone had experince actually collecting on such policies? Is it a complicated, time consuming process? DH was NOT close to his dad, the man drank his family away and DH has had little to do with him over the years. In fact it was only a couple of months ago that his dad contacted him asking him to assume "power of attorney" and thats when DH started to see abit more of him. Anyway, maybe this is his way of "making up" to DH by at least leaving him with this policy. We'll never know.
