Some quick FL updates!

THREE WEEKS FROM TODAY

We leave!

It seems just around the corner. We have an event every weekend, including a 3 day work trip for me this Thursday-Sat, between now and the trip and the time is just flying by!

Although I spent the bulk of my weekend cleaning my house, which really really needed it, I did manage to get all our touring plans into the system.
The system being “tripit” which is an app I use on my phone. It’s wonderful! If you have an android phone, iphone or blackberry (I think), check it out. You can forward all your confirmation numbers from sites they support (aka Disney!) to it and it will add them into your trip for you and then manually add the rest. www.tripit.com

The touring plan app is pretty cool too and it’s loaded and ready to go.
I have gotten my snack and CS pages into my binder, as well as park hours.
But that’s it. I still have to do the rest of the pages, hopefully I’ll have time to do them the way I want to! My goal is 2 pages per park and updated drink pages Even though everything is in tripit, therefore on my phone, the binder pages are fun to look at and a bit easier to read. Things like snack lists, CS options and drink list I don’t have on the phone (yet) and am not sure if I will. Right now I’ve left it to ADR’s, room ressie info, shuttle info and then then daily touring plans.

I was able to layer in most of the entertainment we want to see into the daily touring plans. It did tweak a few things in terms of arrival and departure times but for the most part, we are intact. I am most worried about Tuesday the 17th. We have planned MK for that day, ideally EMH at 8am and rope drop but they are showing a crowd level of NINE for that day and MK as being “worst”. So that one will be interesting…shades of our last trip I fear. I still can’t fit in F! but will keep my ears open if they add a second show or whatever.

I have added in the new pizza place in Italy as a possible lunch option, or as an alternative to Kouzzina if the timing just doesn’t work out right, it would be fun to check it out so we will see on that one. It would be OOP though I think.

I’ve made our first night dinner “priority seating” reservation at Margaritaville for the 19th. It isn’t really a ressie, it just means a reduced wait time so…we will see. Tomorrow I can do the same at Hard Rock for the 20th. I may make a 2nd one at Margaritaville for the 21st. Jeff really wants to eat there at least twice. I have a different place planned but having a backup plan might be a good idea. Though they “say” dinner wait times aren’t anything like Disney.

Still, I am skeptical. The crowd reports for Harry Potter are INSANE! I’m glad we switched the order of the trip. We have a week to get on the right time zone and used to getting up early, we will need that for WWOHP. I’m also glad because theoretically it is value season at WWOHP by the time we get there, meaning crowds should be better (more folks back in school) and FD is going on at Disney so hopefully people are over there. I’m scared about the crowds! Glad I’ve been reading up as that day is going to require some touring strategy for sure.

Shopping wise I am THIS close to being done. My fancy new organic sunscreen arrived so we are almost in good shape there. Worried it’s not quite enough so need to get more but will get back up of something else here. I picked up new shirts for our photo shoot for 5 of us, still have to find one for Kendall. I also got each boy a new shirt for the trip, they both could use another one, especially Eric who just did a HUGE closet purge and has a seriously whittled down wardrobe. I'll toss them at them as they pack, they will love that! I almost bought Snowy (Eric's polar bear who apparently "won" the decision of who got to go to Disney out of all the animals) a new outfit, but resisted. I thought he needed a new swimsuit but he's at least changed into a beach tee and jeans shorts and looks much more comfortable now. He was wearing an Vancouver 2010 Olympic Sweatshirt.

:rotfl:

We figured out Sandie’s birthday and this Tink is on her way to her, today, so should be there in plenty of time. I am so excited about this. I had to send the other bag back (well actually, sending it today, haven’t made it to the post office yet lol). It wasn’t our first choice but I think she will like it. When I bought it I asked the seller if it was possible to include a note as it was a gift and we were having it sent direct. She offered to gift wrap it and put a card with it! She’s going to take a picture of the present and email it to me. How incredibly sweet is that!

It isn't as similar in style to mine and K's as I'd have liked but it is Tink, it is the same size and it is very Sandie so that's all that matters. I do have my eye on a Snow White one....like I need another bag.

:rotfl2:

Other than that we need to deal with shoes for K&T, I’d hoped to do it this past weekend but K’s lack of enthusiasm on the subject wasn’t exactly inspiring. Granted, that’s applying to everything this summer (she is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO bored) lol but still. Doesn’t make one inspired to go birthday shopping either and my goodness does she have quite the list of things she wants! Bleh. 14. I swear she’s 2 years behind T. He didn’t speak in 7th grade and she seems to be going through some of the same sullenness. Not attractive at all. I hope she snaps out of it at Disney. I think she will….most of the time. Hopefully we are at the resorts long enough with the daily pool time for the teens to meet other teens there, that will help quite a bit. Otherwise I have a feeling I’m going to have to get my beach volleyball skills up to par, and quickly!

I’ve picked up some glow bracelets and glow in the dark silly bandz, am probably going to get a few more pins. I cannot find the spray mister fan things for the life of me, long gone, so I’ll have to buy one there I guess.

Ouch.

And OUCH is the budget. It’s a frightening amount of money . We have to get into DVC so it doesn’t feel so painful. That’s all I know! Even if we weren’t staying deluxe, the rest of the costs would likely be the same. OUCH. Of course the super long trip aspect does add to it.

I've done a little bit of looking at the HP souvie prices and am concerned the kids souvie budget may fall short but....hopefully grandma steps in. :rotfl:

Car $50.00
Evan OOP food $148.00
1 OOP lunch (T, E2 and J while we are at tea) $30.00
Town Car to Universal/MCO $138.00 (already paid)

Drinks $300.00
Universal Dining $1,000.00
Checking luggage! $120.00
OOP CS Breakfasts $180.00
WCC OOP Breakfast $100.00
Cape May OOP Breakfast $161.15
Garden View Tea $51.45
Souvies $450.00
MSB Haircuts $28.00
Garden Grocer $120.00 (already paid)
Illuminations Cruise $175.00
Resort Photo Session $99.95
Photopass CD $99.95 (will pre-order next week)
Mousekeeping $40.00
Refillable Mugs $83.04
Bell Services $36.00
The Kitchen (Breakfast at HRH) $100.00

I would LOVE to add a massage for me at WL…I had one there last year and it was SOOOOO good but….I just don’t see it in the budget.

I have looked into catering for our Illuminations Cruise. Right now our plan is dinner at Kouzzina at 5;10. That’s early for us so I imagine we will all eat on the lighter side. We need to be at the dock at 8, boat leaves at 8:30, fireworks at 9, back around 9:40 I think. I am thinking it would be lovely to have something on the boat. They do provide chips (chips, at night, of all things?) and soda/water. I’m thinking I’m taking all of those back to the room afterwards, we will have bought them with the cruise lol. But other than the water, and maybe soda for the kids, not something I’l l want to have at that hour.

So I got prices on wine, bubbly, beer, cookies, cake or tuxedo strawberries. If we do anything it will probably be cookies and wine or bubbly. Love the idea of the tuxedo strawberries but they are pricey!!!! We can order up to 24 hours before the cruise so we will decide there once we check into the YC and hook up with Sandie. Too bad we can bring our own stuff on board but, oh well!

DCA Day 4 continues....Taxi's and Treats!

I like Sandie's bag- just different enough, I think.

YES! Go with the strawberries- perfect choice! But understand if price is an issue. The kids will love the cookies just as much!

I"m glad to you switched the order, so you can be used to the East Coast time- you'll need every minute at the Potter place. :thumbsup2

I would really like to do the strawberries and either a bottle of bubbly or white but...they are $25 for 5 or 6 berries! OUCH! I could easily drop $100 and end up with 10 berries and one bottle of wine. :(

The cookies are a better deal at 3 big ones for $4. It would probably be too hot for coffee but I bet I could do coffee though and maybe airline bottles of baileys....hmmn.

Potter lines are scary, 2 hours+ for Ollivanders, 90 minutes for FJ.....

The only problem with chocolate covered strawberries .....if it's humid they might sweat. That happened with the ones at my Wishes dessert party last year.

Can you bring food onto the boat? If you can, you could get sandwiches and such from the grab and go section of your resort food court. Make a picnic of it.

Sadly, no. I would totally do that if I could It's either do it through private dining (24 hours ahead of time or more) or forget it. I'll have 18 cans of soda/bottled water and 18 bags of chips though lol.

Good point on the berries and yes I am quite sure it will be humid.

I am SO impressed with this seller!

it shipped priority today!

pixie dust!

I swear I have that same wrapping paper!

Wow, that really is a very nice gift wrap and card! And I like the bag a lot, too!

I hope Sandie will like it. :goodvibes

It looks like you are really very much on top of everything! :thumbsup2

I would not bother with getting anything for the llluminations cruise. I think it will be an event in itself and it does not need plussing (even though I would not mind that bottle of something bubbly, but that would be really expensive, won't it?). You could always get a treat after the cruise...

Crap - I hate when I can't see pictures!

Awww...they will still be there when you get off work, I promise!

Isn't that seller amazing? What a nice surprise and added touch. I need to go give some great feedback.

I'm ambivalent about the cruise, if Sandie wants to (she'd mentioned it originally) then we can add it and if not, that's ok too.

I could do wine or bubbly and cookies for $50-60, or just 4 beers for about $25

Beer and cookies just don't go together in my book. BLEH.

:rotfl:

In reality a bottle of bubbly or wine is about the same as 4 grey goose slushies so....just sayin'

:rotfl:

I was about 10 chapters behind so it took a while to catch up. Love the DL TR and all the photos.

Your plans are great. Don't stress. It's going to be an amazing trip!

Oh and this:
Having had some good Pooh we wandered out.
made me immediately think of Zzub.

I love that bag! So cute.

I think you should look into DVC. If you bought in, what would you pick for your home resort?

Your budget reminded me that I need to do one ASAP. Budgets are not my thing at all. I don't balance my checking account. I estimate. Terrible I know. What's worse is my mom is an accountant :rotfl: Apparently, I learned nothing.

Did you book your resort photo session?

I'm not stressed actually. Momentary moments of panic until I write down whatever it is I realized I've forgotten (most recently it was having mousekeeping and bell services and baggage fees in the budget lol) but overall, not really stressed.

Mildly worried the E's will be bummed about no POP though. It sounds like Jeff may have spilled the beans on water park....either that or Evan is testing me.

Both are possible.

Zzub.

:rotfl:

Dan gets credit for the good Pooh....

We do plan to do DVC at some point, it's more a matter of when and where than if. Resale is our plan though.

Home resort is a big question. Jeff votes for GCV actually and me, I'm not sure at all!

Budgets suck. And I know, despite having a decent one, I'll have missed things.

I did book the photo session :thumbsup2

I hope Sandie likes the bag!

I'd like to add on points, but will probably stick with BLT. My other two options are BWV and BCV. SSR, OKW, and AKV don't appeal to me at all.

I still have to book the photo session. Tomorrow is our 30 day mark, but I don't want to do the session on our check-in date. Can you book 30 days from check-in? Or does it have to be 30 days from the date of the photo session?

Good question, it says 30 days and I guess b/c we were already past it, it didn't even come up. Or right on it, I'm not sure lol! I booked it last week sometime, for the 14th so it was probably right around it at 30 days. They didn't ask what date we arrived.

It was wide open though so I can't imagine you'll have a problem. I had to call back and change the time so we could fit in the ranger tour and it was not an issue at all.

I'm pretty open on the DVC resort, they all have pro's and cons. SSR and OKW don't excite me by themselves but at SSR we'd have 11 months out on a tree house and I like the prices at both so...who knows!

I'll know a lot more after staying at WL and YC this trip. There is a lot about BLT that appeals to me.

Conceptually I like AKV but it might be too remote, hard to tell until I try it, which I will one of these days!

We have tried several DVC's and even then it is hard! I wouldn't know which to choose either!

OKAY wow LOVE that post so informative lots going on there! I have to learn that APP for my phone! I will go check it out! I love it! I love my little trip binder, and I pretty much just do it for fun, but on the phone, too cool!

Beautiful gift for your MIL, and I am sure she will be tickled. How couldn't she be??!!

BUDGETS, hmmmm... I have never really been that good with budgets... My DH takes the time and does the homework to get the best value on airfare, hotels, points, etc., and he is very savvy with that. With everything else... we are not as disciplined :rolleyes1 Call us gluttons I guess, because generally it is fabulous food and wine that gets us every time, especially when we are on vacation alone!!

I am sure you are sooo excited for your trip! Coming up so fast now! YAY!!:yay:

I'm kind of surprised you guys haven't bought yet!

it's very cool, I used it for the Cali trip and it was lovely just having it all there! I am going to have to remember to charge my phone during pool time I think though, or at least when I shower for dinner or it won't make it through the pm touring plan. I love the phone but the apps can drain the battery lol!

Hope so! She's really picky so who knows....but she'll like the spirit of it if nothing else.

I hear you there, it's not exactly a small drink budget.

:rotfl:

Well, we have RCI (which we can exchange to Disney) so it is hard to want another time share, and the fees, etc... we like to do other vacations too, so DH isn't really interested. We have had great luck renting points, and so we are okay with this set up.

Thanks for the photo session info. I'm going to call in the morning and see what's available.

The tree house looks great. I like the layout and space. Not sure about VWL. Never really considered it. I'm not exactly an outdoorsy person. So, I'm not sure how I'd like that whole theme.

I agree with you about AKV. It seems remote. I definitely want to try it. I love that AKV and BLT have 2 full baths in a one bedroom. And the 2 bedrooms have three baths.

I am looking forward to your review of the YC. It looks so beautiful. I can't wait to stay there in November.

Not identical but probably similar, I have a Google phone with the Android OS, it's the HTC Hero but I'm pretty sure it's the same OS so the app should work on yours!

Thanks for the photo session info. I'm going to call in the morning and see what's available.

I bet it's wide open, do they do them at the Contemporary? I can't recall but it seems like they have them at most deluxes. Is that where you plan to do them? They told me they'd do about 4 different locations/settings, I'm interested to see how they pull that off in 20 minutes with 6 people!

Well, if you don't like outdoorsy I'd probably avoid the Treehouse. They are kind of remote on their own and do have a woodsy them inside, though look a lot lighter than VWL. I see the treehouses as being a deluxe version of the FW Cabins. Which we loved but isn't for everyone.

I agree with you about AKV. It seems remote. I definitely want to try it. I love that AKV and BLT have 2 full baths in a one bedroom. And the 2 bedrooms have three baths.

Agreed, and both sleep nine which is a huge plus in m book in terms of numbers of beds. So does the tree house but it's 3 bedrooms!

I am looking forward to your review of the YC. It looks so beautiful. I can't wait to stay there in November.

I'm so excited!
