Licking fingers at the office party?

I have a weird phobia about people touching my food, and this would gross me out. I wouldn't have been able to eat that cake!

I can't even eat after my husband or kids! And let's not even talk about salad bars or buffets.....

This reminds of when I was in law school and went to Dunkin Donuts across the street for coffee. The woman was making one of those egg sandwich things and she took the egg thing off the plate without gloves and put it on the bagel and LICKED HER FINGERS and then took the other part of the bagel and pressed down with the FINGERS SHE JUST LICKED! I was horrified!

I never went back in there....
Should of reported her to the manager and said if it happen again you would report it to the state.

There was another birthday cake yesterday. The birthday girl sat in the so called "cutting chair" and so she quickly said she would cut it to avoid the licker, but the licker wouldn't allow it. She didn't even wash her hands first!!! I don't think she knows how to take a hint. I think only two pieces got eaten and then she wondered if it was a waste of her time? That is crazy. :sad2:

Next time hand her a pair of disposable gloves.

Things like y'all are mentioning are exactly the reason I refuse to eat at pot-lucks. People can be so gross :crazy2:. I know restaurants can be bad, too, but at least there are rules in the restaurant (supposedly) and the health department checks on them sometimes (supposedly).

I don't understand why y'all don't just tell this girl that what she is doing is incredibly nasty and that she can't cut the cakes anymore :confused3. If I paid for the cakes or if it was my birthday, I'd be really mad if someone ruined them like that.

I don't usually notice or care about food handling all that much - somehow I have survived :teeth: However, if it were that blatant I'd feel weird too, especially if she wasn't a good friend or family member. Not sure what I'd do though. I adore chocolate cake, and it would be a real dilemma for me - refuse the cake or accept it with spit? Hmmmmmmm - tough one! :rotfl:

Please, just tell the finger-licker why you won't eat a piece of cake she's cut. She probably doesn't even realize she's doing it or that it's grossing people out. She might even stop insisting on cutting every cake.

At my DS's scout banquet, the mom's had to cut the cakes for dessert...after cutting the first slice, we were all tempted to lick our fingers, like we would at home...I brought disinfecting wipes with me, carry them in my purse for shopping cart handles, etc. so we were able to clean up without putting our slobber all over the place. It was weird though, all the mom's, including me raised our hands about 4 inches toward our faces, then looked at the other moms and started to giggle. Sent our boys for the wipes and a big pile of napkins.
