Has anyone done the Character dining at Liberty tree tavern? We really like the crystal palace but are considering LTT this time instead. Thoughts? Thanks

We've done both in one trip and are doing both again during our June, 2007 trip.

The dinner at the Liberty Tree Tavern is turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, veggies, mac and cheese, rolls and salad. The last time we were there, our dessert was pie and ice cream. I think it may have changed though.

The service at the Liberty Tree Tavern was great. The servers were very attentive and were quick to remove and replace the dishes and food.

The characters at the Liberty Tree Tavern seemed to interact with us more than at the Crystal Palace. My daughter was wearing a cowboy hat and Goofy got it and placed it on his head and did a little dance with our daughter. Chip and Dale came to the table too. Chip kept pointing to our son's roll, letting him know he better start eating. Next thing you know, Chip had a roll from our basket and had stuffed it down into his costume. Our son thought that was so funny.

I think you would be pleased if you were to choose the Liberty Tree.

We have done both and also have both booked for this year. Last year was the first time we tried LTT, and we ate there before MNSSHP. LTT is great, the service was excellent, character interaction was wonderful, not rushed even though it was very busy, and the food was great! I love Crystal Palace though too for all meals. I say do both if you can!;)

We like both, with an edge to the Crystal Palace (we are major Pooh fans!). LTT is very pretty inside and the food is pretty good. I like it there for lunch, too, which is not a character meal. Quiet, cool and very relaxing. A nice change from the bustle of the parks. Since there are different rooms, it is not overly noisy.

You might try searchign this topic, it's asked alot. I love it, been twice and to CP once. Characters come around more often, food is family style which means to getting up and down for the buffet, I like that alot!

LTT is a must for us every trip. We like Crystal Palace very much, but LTT is very special -- very "Disney."
It is a lot quieter and more intimate than CP. The theme is an old-fashioned, colonial Thanksgiving dinner. Characters and cast members are dressed up as if they are living in George Washington's time.
When your table is ready, they call out: "Hear ye, hear ye -- now seating the Smith family from the state of Pennsylvania!"
Just classic and corny Disney stuff that makes you want to go back the first night you're home.
The food is good and satisfying -- not great, but again satisfying and all-you-can eat.
On a hot day, you will wolf down about a half-dozen glasses of the pink lemonade.
Have fun whatever you choose!

We love LTT!! It's always our first TS meal every Disney vacation. We really enjoy the meal, it's good stick-to-your-ribs comfort food, and the character interaction is wonderful. Even though we're pretty much a group of 4 adults (DD is 18 and DS is 15) the characters still visit us as much as the tables with small children, pose for pictures and have fun with us. We'll be there again on Aug. 26 and we can't wait!! :thumbsup2

Yeah!! LTT is our 1st ADR during our August free dining trip. Now I am SOOOO excited! Did someone say ham? I was worried there would only be turkey and I am not a turkey fan but was going to "deal" with it.

Done both, many times. I prefer a Crystal Palace breakfast and a LTT tavern dinner. But, that's me. :)

It is very popular on these boards to make fun of LTT because they serve Stouffer's mac n cheese. I happen to like Stouffer's mac n cheese. But, if it is far beneath you to eat that, go to the Crystal Palace and eat some other kind of frozen food (SYSCO?).

The Grand Floridian has an excellent dinner buffet. Cinderella, Prince Charming and the mice stop by. :)

Hey,

We used to do CP every trip but our last trip (during free dining) was very disappointing, so we will not be going back this year. Maybe it was becasue the place was so busy or maybe it was just an off night but the food was gross, and the charcters seemed spent. We were there for over 1 1/2 and never did get to see Piglet or Pooh.

This year we will try LLT before MNSSHP. We're very excited about it. It looks beautiful inside and we are looking forward to family style dining instead of buffet. In fact we are not doing any buffets this trip.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure you and your family will have a magical trip!

Like previous posters have said, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. Our preference is LTT. There's something special about it, much more homey feeling. It was one of our favorite meals. If you've been to CP before, I think you would enjoy trying LTT! Have fun where ever you end up!
