Liberty Tree or Crystal Palace

We're hoping to have dinner on our first day of arrival in the MK. Just looking for opinions.

Well, if you have little ones..they will definately Crystal Palace. We make it a point to eat there every trip...it is our family tradition. It does have a buffet and the food is always good.

We have also done Liberty Tree Tavern on our last trip and will do it on our April trip. The food is great. You pick from a menu and are served your food...there are no characters at this one. It has a rustic feel which we enjoy and have never had any bad food or poor service here.

As they are two different experiences, you will have to pick based on what you are looking for and who is in your group. Honestly, you can't go wrong with either.

If you have to choose between the 2, definitely go with Crystal Palace. The variety of food and the beautiful restaurant and the characters are spectacular. We like Liberty Tree Tavern's food but ever since they took the characters away, it has lost something. Hope that helps!

Personally, I'd go to The Plaza Restaurant instead. We've only done Crystal Palace for breakfast (we no longer do lunch or dinner buffets at Disney after some really bad experiences) and I'm not a "Thanksgiving" type person to eat at Liberty for dinner (we did love lunch though). I suppose if you have little ones I would pick Crystal Palace for the characters.

Yes the dinner is still Thanksgiving type food. The menu is up on Allears.net. We are trying Liberty Tree Tavern for the first time for dinner on our upcoming trip! We're excited! I love that type of food. We aren't personal fans of character meals, so we're glad they changed this one up and now we're able to try it! If you have little ones, I've heard that Crystal Palace is a MUST DO!

We love Liberty Tree, but really wish the characters were back permanently (or that we were there now when they are there temporarily!)

If you the characters aren't a priority, I'd suggest Liberty Tree. If they are a priority, CP.

At Liberty Tree Tavern, I had the turkey meal and it was quite delicious...my mother had the salad and enjoyed every bite...it was also one of my dd8's faves for kids choices. Many people enjoy the buffets too as you also get a wide range of foods and Pooh & Friends can't be beat!

I also had us booked at Cyrstal Palace but my kids couldn't care less about Pooh and his pals, so I switched to 1900 Park Fare, then we'll go back to MK for Wishes.

I'm disappointed that on our day at MK a Spectro isn't scheduled! We had a great view from LTT there in '06.

Liberty Tree Tavern. We don't like Crystal Palace. I know most people do, but last year when we were there, it was dirty and the food wasn't good. The last several years before that, while it wasn't dirty, we weren't crazy about the food. We gave it one more chance last year because our son was still into the Winnie the Pooh characters. It was lousy and that was it for us. We won't be returning since our son isn't into Winnie the Pooh et al as much this year.

We do eat at Liberty Tree every year, and while we miss Chip and Dale and the gang, we still enjoy the food and atmosphere much more than Crystal Palace. Our son does, too.

If the Winnie the Pooh characters aren't a big priority for your kids, I'd choose LTT, hands down.

Also, if you like the atmosphere at CP, you might want to try The Plaza instead. It's mostly sandwiches, but they are very good, and the atmosphere is very quaint and lovely.

We will be having dinner at LTT on our first night during an upcoming stay. I have character meals scheduled at Chef Mickeys, OHana, and 1900 Park Fare during our stay so my son will get his feel of characters later on in the trip.

We like both...but like others have said, just depends on the type of experience you are looking for. It's been a long time since we've been to CP for dinner (Dec. '08) but it was good then...and we've been to LTT twice on other trips - it's one of dh's favorites.

Definitely Crystal Palace. We always try to start our trips with a character meal!

Of the two I think CP is the better choice. I think they have a really good selection on the buffet. Other then CP I rarely eat inside MK. I choose to eat at one of the monorail resorts. If I am having my big meal at lunch I go with Kona and I go with The Wave if I am having dinner. If leaving the park isn't an option I would go with CP.

Just a word of caution...Crystal Palace has one of the longest waits from when you check-in until you are seated, so you need to plan accordingly. I think Liberty Trees menu for dinner is much the same as for lunch.

We ate at CP for breakfast and at Liberty Tree for dinner on our last trip. We enjoyed both.

Liberty Tree is like a home meal. They bring the whole meal to the table just like it would be at home. My kids liked it.

I try to stay away from buffets just because I would eat too much and feel horrible afterwards, lol.

DH & I have eaten at both and definitely prefer the Crystal Palace. We are going back there in July. The food is always great there and I love Eeyore. DH loves to eat and really enjoys the buffett.

I will say this - the Liberty Tree Tavern wasn't bad, we both ate our meals, but found the food just ok. The roast pork listed on the menu was actually ham and the Stouffer's Mac n Cheese was lukewarm (it really needs to be served super hot to be yummy!). Also, I think we may be spoiled because we have restaurants around the Boston area that are really that age and have great traditional food.
