I'd love to hear some reviews about the Liberty Tree character dinner. It is the only character meal scheduled that I am not so sure about. I scheduled it for the day we arrive. Our plane arrives at 11:00 and I scheduled dinner at 5:45. I wanted to go somewhere in the Magic Kingdom to get my kids (1 and 4) into the Disney spirit. My concern is the food. I know my husband will love it but I'm a vegetarian. Do you think there will be enough side dishes for me to eat?

Most people like this meal. My entire family (Grandmother, Grandfather, me, husband, and two kids), REALLY disliked it. The food, in our opinion, was not good. It wasn't inedible by any means, we just really did not care for it. The salad and bread was good. Meat was very substandard, veggies were of the "frozen" variety. The server felt so bad that the kids didn't like the food that he brought them out a plate of chicken tenders (my kids are not picky either--just used to *better* restaurant food).

However, having said that, your kids are younger than mine were at the time, probably not as discriminating, and will probably really enjoy the character meal. As far as vegetarian dining, you may want to let them know ahead of time and they will probably fix you a special meal.

Being a vegetarian might be a little tough unless you can make a meal out of the Declaration Salad (yummy), mashed potatoes (yummy) and veggie (I think it was corn) There's also bread and warm cherry cobbler with ice cream (unless you're non-dairy). Oh, also there's mac n'cheese. I guess you could make a meal out of it! :cool1:

We went in Jan. 05 and even my sort-of-picky mom liked it. She said she would even go back another time. :thumbsup2 We went without ADR and so ate fairly late-in fact I think we were one of the last tables to leave. One of the benefits of being among the last to eat was that the characters came around, and around, and around....My DD(then 5) enjoyed interacting with Minne, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale.

We went back in Sept. 05 but only for lunch that time-it was also very good. One thought, since they do do a seperate menu for lunch maybe they can accomodate your veggie needs. On their lunch menu they have a veggie dish, pasta dish and salmon (do you eat fish?) Maybe if you call ahead they can accomate you. I think it's worth a try.

Have a great time!

Our family really enjoys Liberty Tree Tavern! In fact, it's become our traditional "first night" dinner. We like to start our vacation w/ a character meal, and LTT is perfect - good food, traditional characters, & a pleasant atmosphere in the middle of MK! I love how you're called to your table when it's ready - "The Smiths from Wyoming!" - a cute little "intro" to WDW on your 1st night! ;) After we eat dinner at LTT, we ride a couple rides & then grab a couple of Mickey Bars & find a place on Main Street for the Parade & Wishes. :cloud9:

Following is my review of LTT from last May:

Besides breakfast at CRT, this was probably my favorite character meal! Our PS time was for 5:40 pm. We checked in early and were seated early. While we were waiting, I remembered that we hadn't yet bought autograph books for the kids, & I panicked! (I had planned to have welcome baskets w/ autograph books delivered to our cabin at FW, but I never did . . .) I asked the hostess where the nearest place was where I could purchase some books, and she very kindly told me that our server could provided us w/ some. Whew!

We were seated at a quiet table by a window in the corner. Our server was wonderful. She quickly brought us two autograph books & a pen. She was very nice to our 2 children. When she brought our food, she placed the bowl of green beans at our daughter's place & said, "This is just for you, Princess!" :rotfl: The look on my daughter's face was priceless! (She hates green beans!)

The food (except for the Stouffer's mac & cheese) was very good - the Declaration Salad w/ the strawberry salad dressing was so yummy! The rolls & apple cobbler were also quite good. The other offerings (roast beef, ham, turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans) were tasty as well.

Characters were great! Our daughter fell in love w/ Minnie Mouse at this meal. Pluto kept stealing the bread off of our table. Goofy seemed a little hurried, but Chip & Dale were hilarious!

Atmosphere - Excellent
Characters - Excellent (a wonderful first meal!)
Food - Excellent (mac & cheese notwithstanding)
Service - Excellent

When we went, it was the frozen baby carrots. They were about as bad as the ones I make at home. :teeth:

Although no one in our family is a vegetarian, all Disney restaurants will accomodate special dietary needs if you call ahead. As for the restaurant, our family really likes it...the food's not "great," but it's definitely better than some of the other dining experiences in the parks and as a family of all guys (except for my mom), we all feel like we get our money's worth.

Any WDW restaurant will offer a vegetarian meal (or essentially any other special dietary need) provided that they have 24 hours notice. I would call WDW dining and have them add that notation to each of your ADRs for your entire vacation. Once you arrive on property, stop at the concierge desk (formerly Guest Services) at your resort and be sure that the notation is there. Ask them to call the individual restaurants to be sure the chef is aware.

LTT is one of our favorites. The characters are excellent as is the food. The vege stuff would be the salad, rolls, green beans and potatoes on the main menu, but they will offer you a vegetarian entree if they have advanced notice.
