I got a call on the weekend from a cm letting me know that the night we had booked for dinner at the Liberty Tree was closing at 3:30 due to a company buy out and that our ressie was cancelled!
Wondering if this has happened to anyone and whats up with that?
I was so annoyed because i had all of our ressie's done and when i went to find another place we would have wanted to eat at they were all booked!!!
Guess i will just keep on trying. Its not a huge deal but what a disapointment! :confused3

You would think if they were going to let a company rent out a restaurant that they would have to do it before the 180 day window

Hi! This hasn't happened to me, but there was a post this past week from someone who had her reservation at Crystal Palace cancelled on Sept. 10th. She was told it was due to Night of Joy. Night of Joy has been sceduled for months, certainly prior to the 180 days. The park is open to the public until 7 PM. If I recall the poster said all reservations after 4PM were being cancelled.

What day was your ADR? Stinks that Disney isn't honoring these ADRs. Hope they help you get something else.

Did the CM offer to re-book you at a different place or night?

I would have been livid. It's not like you can just switch restaurants easily with the ADR system this close to the visit.

I'm wondering that myself. The only time I've experienced such a thing was when our ADR was cancelled due to Disney changing their refurb schedule - they rebooked us to another restaurant and gave us passes for the preferred viewing area for Illuminations. I would really think that they would at least offer to find you alternate dining accommodations.

This was my thought too..

I have Disney cancel a ressie by mistake (CRT), but they quickly fixed the problem. It was the only time in 30+ years.

I was wondering the same thing because when I read other threads where people say WDW had to cancel one of their ADR's, they had a couple of alternate restaurants available if the guest was willing to accept one of them.

That is a good point - I hope they didn't just say too bad.

OP...well, at least they called you and gave you a "heads up". My mom and sis showed up for a much anticipated ADR at the Coral Reef one time and were informed at that time of the same kind of situation. They may not have even chosen to go to EPCOT that day if it weren't for their ADR at CR. They were frustrated and disappointed. They ended up having a completely lousy meal at Tutto.

For a pile of cash -- enough cash to buy out the restaurant -- the 180-day window goes out the window.

She offered to book a lunch there which i did, but wasn't really wanting. Usually i would have been mad but she actually sounded sorry and she was so nice that i couldnt get mad at her and anyways its not like she did it.

I understand that if a company offers money to be there then of course they would take it, heck i would. It just sucks for all the families who have made their plans to be there that day. We are doing MK that day so it was handy being able to eat dinner there.
It was for sept 10th.

Now i've been on since she called me almost everyday trying to see if i can make a reservation and it just keeps coming up that there are no times available.

So im wondering if anyone else on here, had the same reservation for the same day?
Im hoping that this wasnt just a mix up and that it really is unavailable that night

Exactly...someone crunched the numbers and made a business decision that the bottom line would be better served leasing the restaurant out, rather than serving the average patron.

Honestly I wouldn't have been happy if this happened to me, but I can understand the business side of the decision.

However, the displaced customers would be better served if CMs had 2-3 other options lined up and available to offer.

Thats a stinker - Especially the person who said that they showed up to find out their ADRs were canceled.

This is the exact reason that I check my reservations on the disneyworld website every day!

It happened to us last January...They cancelled our reservation because of the Fantasyland Expansion Press Conference.....Like they didn't know that was scheduled months in advance....we had to scramble to find another.

It does happen occasionally as Disney will rent out anything from a restaurant to an entire park to one of their cruise ships for private parties, press events, etc. And there's no 180-day window for this, in fact there is no window at all. If you get cancelled for it they are supposed to assist you to find an alternate ADR (which they did when they offered lunch).

Sep 10 is a Night of Joy night so the park will be closing early as well. So make sure you take that into account in case you didn't know.....

I really like lunch better at LTT. Sorry they had to cancel your dinner.
