We just returned home last night from a horrible stay at WDW. My step-daughter got her foot stuck on splash mtn and they closed the ride down on Sunday april 30 around 1130 pm. That is a whole different story and we are getting calls from disney to work it out and she goes to the dr today now that we are home as we feel she has a broken toe or two.
Anyways,
When the manager from the Boardwalk Villas was bring my 2 sons and I back to the BWV from the behind the scenes of the MK while my wife and daughter went to the hospital, i saw the liberty square riverboat. It was parked in the back in the water stil. I commented how my wife loved that ride and we were hoping to ride it but saw the refurb had been pushed to June 06.
He said not to count on riding it for at least another year.
He said that when they went to do the refurb on it, they found a lot more wrong with it.
He said the boiler needs to be replaced, as well as the hull of the ship has to be redone. He said it will take about another year he estimates.
He also stated that they will somehow tow the boat over by the contemporary and have to remove some of the water there to get a crane to get it out to start the repairs as it has to be out of the water to work on the hull. He doesnt know when it will happen, but thinks it would be done late in the evening, like 2 or 3 am so most wont see this site going on. He himself said he woud love to see it and it sure someone will be out there with a camera or video to see it. For whatever reason, that is how it has to come out he said.
this is the info i was told. He also told me he has been able to ride space mtn and rock n rollercoaster with the lights on and would never ride them again after seeing all the track inter twine with another.
Believe it or not, but this is what he said.
I am sad if it is indeed true about the boat being down. seems like it could be done faster.
