LG Appliances...where did they come from?

I know this post is several months old but I wanted to add. Our LG refrigerator that was purchased in june 09 == is no longer working. It started sounding really odd a few days ago. We leveled it and vacuumed the back and bottom. Today the cooling controls are no longer lit for the refrigerator and the freezer controls bumped up to 6 and 7. Normal operation is at 4 for both. It is a Stainless Steel french door freezer on the bottom. I called LG who first said that I had to call sears since that is were I purchased it from. The warrenty is only for 1 yr. Sears wanted to send out their tech. I ended up calling LG back and spoke to their rep. He explained that there is ice inside the unit-- that is the noise we are hearing (except when we open the french doors). He says the seal is worn or doors are not closing-- neither is the case. He said we need some type of 'board' for the temp controls. I stressed to him that is was just over 1.5yrs old. That a refrigerator should last aleast 8 yrs if not more. He said if I faxed him the sales receipt he will see if management will ok to service it under warrenty.

At the moment - all my freezer stuff is in the basement freezer and the refrigerator stuff just went out on the rear - unheated enclosed porch. It will only get up to the 20's the next few days so basically it will freeze. Thank god that we didn't have a full refrig. I stuck the milk and juice in the freezer part since that is still cold. I have the ice cubes still in there so I can monitor the temp.

We got it at a good deal. about $850- normally $1200 or so. I dont' know what we will do if they say that they won't extend the warrenty. Our repair company says they will service it for a $100 service call. They did say LG was slow with getting parts sent out. If they don't cover it I dont' know if it is foolish to go buy a new (different brand) refrig or pay up for the service on it and hope it doesn't break down in a few years again.

We have an LG washer - front loader--- that we LOVE. Just not lovin' the refrig right now.
