Lexus "December to remember" AKA "the thread to remember" AKA "All Hail NU&

You think??? OMG, I think she's on to me! What's your major? Maybe that will explain why you seem to be surrounded by NY haters. The key to NU is to pretend you're a rich European or Middle Eastern student. Then you'll fit right in with the "in" crowd. Try hanging at the Armani Cafe on Newbury St. They'll appreciate the Burberry much more over there too.

No, we both paid for the new buildings. Where the Library is now was a parking lot when I was there. The Marino Center was also a parking lot. Come to think of it, most of our Campus was a parking lot back then. :p "Stars" was our cafeteria and believe me we got no gourmet grub then.

I also remember being told as a Freshman that we were living on the edge of the "most dangerous" section of Boston.

Stars is closed. Hasn't been open all year...yet it is untouched on the inside. Coffee cups and chairs and everthing still in their places...weird.

And believe me, once you cross over Ruggles it still isn't fun. ;)

Why are you so mean to me? Honestly...get over the whole Burberry scarf thing, I used that as an example.

BTW, not many people here are loaded. Not as much as you'd expect with this insane tuition, anyway. No one really has expensive things or is very materialistic.

Err....Margie, when I was there, the Library was right on the quad. Are you saying there's a new one? I never heard of the Marino Center. Dirt parking lots is what I remember. Having to walk a mile to class is what I remember. Good thing I had the limo drop me off on Huntington.

(and it's still on the edge of the "most dangerous" section of Boston)

the Northeastern population is DEFINITELY not the group to base your entire opinion of the Commonwealth on. Especially considering the neighborhood it borders. It's not the nicest part of town.

Nice enough school. The internships they get have always been top notch. I guess it's competitive for out of staters, but wicked easy to get into if you're a state resident because of the lack of housing - they've been trying to promote commuters for years.

I'm not being mean to you...you just don't see that yet. You're looking at me with whatever the opposite of rose-colored glasses are.

Whose got a pantone color wheel??!? I want to know what the opposite of rose colored is.

I don't believe that when someone responds to every post that I make in a malicious or sarcastic way is nice. And I don't see how viewing your actions as rude and mean are looking through the situation with rose colored glasses.

BTW, the Marnio center is our new gym. Located right across from the T stop and Cabot. Really nice gym. The 37,000 a year they charge us isn't for the classes, its for all the new crap they keep building.

No you missed my point, you only see it as malicious because you are taking everything as an attack...thus my reference to OPPOSITE of rose colored glasses. For example, I said something about the Yankees ONCE, and suddenly you see me as a rabid Yankee hater who wants to attack you simply because you are from LI. That was a big leap.

Methinks you are taking this whole thread way too seriously. The only mean thing I've done to you is keep you from studying with all this frivolity. Don't you have tests coming up, young lady?? Maybe it's all that Dashboard Confessional you listen to that makes you see everything as so negative. Carrabba is good, but he can be such a downer.

Don't make me use smileys...I hate smileys. But no, I'm not being mean or malicious to you.

Why would you even bring up the Yankees when it was irrelevant to the thread? I also mentioned my background on the issue, how I was sick and tired of everyone around here and the whole Yankees/Sox/New Yorkers suck thing. I explained myself, which explains the "big leap".

I also stated more than a few times that I was having a bad day. One might think that they would realize this after me explaing myself. Methinks you have just been pushing my buttons, and winning, considering my vulnerable state right now.

I don't have studying, I'm an art major (changing my major next year), and I don't have any written tests. My work is all caught up with.

And if you haven't noticed, that dashboard quote is a HAPPY quote. I've had it for over a year, but I don't want to touch it, since it is all pretty and colorful. Yes, Carrabba can be a downer, which is why I can't listen to DC all the time. Ruins a persons outlook on life, ya know ;)

It could be worse....you could be a Britney Spears fan.

But EvilP....(you don't mind me calling you EvilP since we're such close friends now right?).....I haven't been teasing you constantly about the Yankees since the Sox choked this Fall have I? I said something once, yet you add me to the pile of people who have been doing it to you all along. I have been making silly comments on this thread about rich people which, I remind you, was started over a comment about a CAR COMMERCIAL! But how do you know I really don't have a Lexus and a Burberry scarf or that I am simply making fun of the whole notion of a Rich channel from the same point of view that you have? (I guess that would be RTV?)

Vulnerable state?!?! That's Carrabba talking again.

So how does an art major get graded when art is supposed to be subjective? I've always wondered that.

BTW, it sucks you've been having a tough time this Fall, but pixie dust will only make it worse. It's highly overrated. Think about it...what good is it to have everyone tell you how sorry they are for you and try to boost you up with stuff like, "Hang in there, things will get better." or "Your friends are only teasing you about your wealth because they're jealous." and crap like that? Isn't it better and more therapeutic to get p-ed off at me? Think about it.

I make no apologies for my work ethic or my principles, it is how I grew up and how I will teach my children and if they work hard they too will be entitled to treat themselves to nice things.
I'm getting back into this thread three pages late, but just wanted to address the above quote. Good for you! I really mean that :D I wish there were more people that had that kind of attitude and spirit. No one should ever have to hide, or be made to feel bad about, the fact that they have nice things, especially if it is due to hard work. :D :D :D

Back to cars for a moment:

If you really want a car that is a little more affordable than a Lexus but almost as high of quality......buy a Toyota.....it's almost the same thing.

That's exactly what I've been doing. I went to a local dealer to look at the regular Camry's and Solara versions and the Avalon caught my eye. Very nice indeed.

RUDisney,

You will love your new Town and Country. I gave up my 10 year old Lexus with 205,000 miles on it for this van. Had to have it when our 3rd child (accident-I mean blessing came along).

Wow, lots of Christmas spirit in here!

It must be a NY thing because I wasn't offended at all by the initial posts making fun of the commercials, nor the tongue-in-cheek crack about a separate TV channel....and I have a big house, a Lexus and I'm filthy stinking rich. So rich, in fact, that I'm buying everyone on this thread (except for the other rich folks, of course) their very own Lexus wrapped in a bow made from Burberry scarves!

Great...just have that delivered to my home address...no need for the bow... ;)

I honestly don't recall you teasing me about the Yankees this season, sorry.

Vulnerable state, yeah...it's not the whole freshman blues thing either. I learned of a family member passing today, amungst other bad news and general crappy luck. Yes, I know, thats life, but it has been an exceptionally bad day. Did I ask for pixie dust? No, I just tried to explain why I was short tempered today.

I agree, no one should live in a world of all pixie dust. Sometimes a little pixie dust from a friend is good, sometimes you need someone to tell it to you straight. I don't think that getting p-ed off at you is better, but thats just IMHO.

BTW, art work is graded on your use and ability of the principals of art, whether its good composition, and if you are using the skills you have learned to improve in your homework. It's also graded on effort, how much time you put into it, etc.

I suppose you may be right...but I definitely think asking for pixie dust from total strangers is a rather odd practice which is prevalent around here. Glad to hear that a future fellow alumnus wasn't delving into that sort of thing. Makes me feel better about you using all those buildings Marge and I helped pay for.

So, ok...does this mean you're still p'd off at me for teasing you about your scarf and the baseball team or are you felling better about that now?

Alright, grading on effort I can understand, one can usually tell how much a student is putting into a class. Grading on application of basic principals I can understand. But composition, I'm not so sure about. Who's to say one person's idea of good composition is better than anothers? I mean some professional person with an artistic background thought putting ribbons on mid-priced luxury cars was great composition and look at all the trouble he/she has caused here! There was practically a riot. If you are really going to change your major....what are you thinking of changing it to? Cuz, you know, if you switch to Marketing, in 5 years you can come up with some better ads for Lexus.

This is what I picked out for you DD. Please excuse the hideous color scheme, but I think you can overlook that when I tell you this baby has a V8 in it and I'm not talking about the cold Campbell's soup in a can kind of V8 either.

....and let it be known that Mermaid cooks one heck of a lobster dinner. She looks darn good in that K-mart scarf I gave her too.
