Letting Our Sorcerer Passes Expire

We’re about to let our (4) Sorcerer Passes expire since we likely won’t be back to WDW for about a year. When the Sorcerer Pass first became available, we jumped at the chance to buy, especially since we had two trips planned that year.

Now, with all the discounts WDW has been rolling out lately (and wanting to visit Epic), I’m wondering if we might see better ticket deals or even a lower-tier DVC pass option in the future.

I’m not too concerned about saving a few dollars by renewing now versus buying later. I'll just pray they don’t pause sales right before I need to purchase. I've been tempted to maybe pay for just 1 pass.

Curious what others are thinking, anyone else considering letting theirs expire?

When the passes went back on sale after COVID, we got lucky and last-minute upgraded 10-day tickets to annual passes. I remember thinking at the time, "Never let these lapse!"

I let my Sorcerer pass expire in October, after a Sept. trip, because I didn’t foresee returning within 12 months. I just bought a new Sorcerer today for a trip next week and also today I booked another trip in January. The pass is about $300 more than the 9-day hopper I would have purchased for each trip so it made sense.

We have Sorcerer (are DVC and FL resident) and went to renew online just now and it will only let us renew up to the incredi for more money. I did online chat and was told to clear my cookies, which I did and still no sorcerer renewal showing. Ugh. Guess we need to stop at a counter at the parks.

What I did is let mine expire but will be buying the new voucher as I know I’ll activate it within the year.

So, you could just buy them new as soon as within a year if your next trip so that it will still be valid to activate.

I *believe* you can renew online using resident privileges. That said, not sure if you can crossover from DVC to resident for renewal.

We are letting ours expire too (3 in August and 1 in October). We are going to Europe next spring break including DL Paris. I’d rather put the $4k in pass renewals towards that. Our only Disney trip next year will be for the Princess Races in February. We only plan to do 1 park day so we’ll just buy a single day ticket.

We’ve taken like 2 years off from having Universal Passes so I could see us getting those again at some point next year.

You can call MS to renew a Sorcerer AP, or else do it in person.

You have to call MS to renew a DVC Sorcerer pass.

I have an Incredipass that I activated in February. I have 3 more trips planned with it. This was a pass from years ago that was in my MDE. It had been there for maybe 10 years. I was surprised to learn that I also got the photo package with it. Does anyone know what it costs to renew an incredipass or a sorcerer pass? (I know they will go up before needing renewal but I'm trying to get an idea if it will be worth it long term to keep it.

I'm also itching to book a couple of days in May and just go because I have the pass and some points........

I am both but our pass is FL resident and I want to renew to same Sorcerer but it only allows me to do Incredi which is the more expensive one. Ugh. I emailed and they told me to call the AP help desk. I will prob just stop at counter this week. Then I can get the plastic card.

Renew is like $950 plus tax VS like $1250 plus tax. Not exact but estimate on what i recall from looking last night.

I think it is highly unlikely that you'll see a better ticket deal or lower-tier DVC pass option in the future.

I think it depends on when you go and how many trips you have planned.

I don't see a lower tier DVC annual pass, but they are offering some discounted tickets as a part of Membership Magic Beyond+. Perhaps those would better suit your needs and provide more flexibility?

We are FL based, roughly 2-3 hours door to door.. For us APs are a no brainer.... sometimes we go for the day, or for a weekend, or for a week. We know we will be back. We are at the Vacation kingdom in some fashion or another typically at least once a month....

For many others, I question if the passes really make it worth it - especially when I saw for FL residents a promotion this year that was I think $60/day for 4 day tickets. Though I think we may have saved money so far over just buying those tickets over and over again (not sure if they limited it to one time per customer), I'd have to double check...

Let mine expire in January. Have held one for the last 5 years or more. I live in the northeast and usually make it down 1-2 times a year (about 10 days annually) It’s about break-even for me, so has been worth it, but I absolutely hate having to deal with Park reservations!

Especially since none of my travel mates use AP’s (last Nov we needed to switch a park day in our plan a week in advance and I almost couldn’t go to MK because MK wasn’t allowing new park reservations for for the day we were switching to on Veterans Day weekend). Got it sorted out by calling the AP line, but it was really stressful.

However I just did a 4-day trip in March and the park-hopper pricing was >$700, which did seem like a lot for four days! 😬

Going to Europe this fall, probably back to WDW next spring. I’ll have to reassess then whether to go back to AP. I’ll definitely be doing fewer trips without one. It’s too bad DVC can’t offer some sort of special discounted DVC AP with a maximum number of days a year (ie 14 or 21). I’d sign up for that!

Yeah, something like year around access to the 50% discount on kids’ (ages 3-9) 3-day or longer tickets. The small window of most of tickets deals are tough. Definitely improve the MMB ticket deal, 10% is not great.

A MMB-tier annual pass with a few additional blackout dates or max number of days in the $500-$700 range would be great. I'd more than make up the difference buying food and drinks.

We would too! Or a park hopper ticket that could be used for a specified number of days over multiple trips.

Discounted is the most important part!

I love the sound of that. Wishful thinking😂

We are letting our passes expire this November. We have decided to do other destinations and have no plans to return until mid to late 2027.

There is NO WAY I'd waste my money renewing the pass if I didn't have at least a couple trips planned for the upcoming year.
