Letterman VS Palin

I dontthink this has to do with politics per say, so i assume its safe to post. What are the opinions on Lettermans joke about Palins daughter? From what i read now, Mrs.Palin is trying to get Dave fired for his jokes. I think that in a way, Sarah needs to just move on. The joke was about her other daughter. and even so there is a difference between telling a joke, and acting on it. Dave is a comedian. He makes jokes. He has apoligized, which was the right thing to do. But Palin is continuing. Opinions? And PLEASE dont start a flame war.

He never apologized - he hemmed and hawed. What was funny about his "joke"? When Imus made a "joke" about "nappy headed hos" it wasn't funny either and he was fired. Should've stayed fired. If Letterman has to resort to these kind of "jokes" then he should be let go. The rest of us in corporate America have to be very cautious in what we say and do or we'll get the ax. Letterman's joke wasn't appropriate nor did it have an ounce of truth to it. It was just plain mean and tacky.

It was utterly tasteless, and if it had been directed at my daughter, I would be just as outraged as Sarah Palin.

If Letterman ever truly apologizes, and that's a big "if," it still would not change the ugliness of his words.

as for the palin joke....children of politicians should be off limits as targets for comedians.......

I don't like how Lettermen said the joke wasn't aimed at the 14 year old, but the 18 year. Oh, so now it is okay??? I don't think he would have said that about either of Obama's daughters regardless of age...

He should just say, I am sorry, and hopefully mean it. I don't know if he should be fired.

I don't want Letterman fired and I didn't want Imus fired. Luckily the smarter heads prevailed in the end for Don.

Here in America you should be able to joke about anything at anytime. Those that find it funny can laugh and those that don't can not laugh. It is not up to one person to tell any other person what is and is not funny regardless of how distasteful you find it.

I remember there was a time when a popular saying was "I may not agree with what you say but I will fight for your right to say it". Bring those days back.

In addition, I'm not really sure I see it's significance on the Dis Unplugged Board.

I'm going to let this go, but I'll be honest....I dont see this going well or lasting long.

Here in America you CAN joke about anything at anytime. David Letterman wasn't arrested for making the joke. But just as he can make the joke, others can come out and say they found it offensive. I absolutely believe in his right to say it, just as I believe in other's right to comment on it. I don't believe he should be fired for it, but I do think people need to remember, just because you have the constituntional right to say something, that does not mean there might not be consequences for saying it.

I think Letterman went too far, I think Sara Palin needs to move on now.
It's over, all she is doing is keeping it in the news.
