Don’t beat me up for this please!

Here is the thing. I really want to write a thank you letter to the manager of the GCH, but I write like I talk. I want a letter that sounds very nice and professional. So…2 things… do you think that I should pay someone from ebay $20.00 to write it for me? Or is there anyone who loves to write who would be willing to help? I just don’t want to sound stupid I guess. Thank you for reading this and not beating me up.

I read your post with no problem. Why would you think you are unable to write a letter? I think if you set your mind to it you would do a fabulous job. :cool1:

Sit down and think of exactly what you want to say. Make a brief outline and write away.

Best of luck!!

I agree with fran99999! I had no difficulty reading your post, and furthermore, I believe that if you write the way you speak you will sound more sincere AND professional...

Wow, people are charging $20 for a thank you note? Maybe I should get in the business. I'm not sure exactly what you're writing the thank you note for, but here's a general one for free...and I don't even know the particulars! By the way, your writing seems fine without anyone's help, but here's the standard...since you are the one who experienced it, I am sure you can write something better.

GCH
[Address]

[Your address]

[Date]

Dear [Insert name here],

I wanted to express my appreciation for the time I spent at GCH. My party [or family] and I experienced [insert three things...ie, great service, helpful staff...make it as personalized as possible.] This all contributed to a wonderful experience and we would certainly return to GCH in the future.

Thank you for helping to make our vacation a memorable one. We look forward to staying with you again.

Sincerely (or Cordially, or Gratefully),

[Your name]

Also, if there was a staff member who was particularly helpful, you could mention this as a third sentence after the second. [Employee X] was particularly [helpful, outstanding] by [Insert experience, ie. obtaining last-minute dinner reservations.]

Good luck! I am sure any manager is happy to receive accolades, whatever the format.

don't pay someone! if you use the word processing program on your computer it has spell check (and my personal favorite-grammer check).

just write your letter and then have someone read it out loud to you (or read it out loud to yourself).

You are all GREAT!!!

I guess because I had some trouble in school at an early age I still get nervous about things like writing letters and thank you notes. For my wedding thank you notes I wrote out about ten different sayings, checked them on the computer, had my mother check them, then I made little changes to them so they would fit the person I was sending the thank you note to. In fact I will tell you all a little secret... I always type my posts in Microsoft Word before I post them on this site (yes, this one also).

Thank you all for your positive feedback and encouragement. I am going to write a nice letter on my own, (“I can do it!” I tell my DD to say that all the time) Maybe I should listen to myself a little.

Liamandcaili, thank you for a great start.

I love the people on this board!!! You are all like extended family.

Thank you again. I am off to get my letter done and NOT pay anyone to do it.

If you want someone to read over your letter, feel free to email it to me. Please save yourself the $20.

I also had no problems reading your post.
