Okay, thanks so much as I'm thinking you may be right. If only we hadn't upgraded last time, I wldnt be so obsessed with doing it again. Lol
lighthouse10 said:#1. What catagory did you pay for? category V
#2. Which Ship? Dream
#3. Number of Nights? 4
#4. Month/Year of Sailing 11/17/2013
#5. What was your Port of Arrival time assignment? no PAT - concierge
#6. What time did you check-in? on-line at the terminal by about 9:45am, checked in by 10:30 and went straight to supervisor's desk.
#7. What catagory were you offered for upgrade? T and R
#8. How much was the upgrade? $400 for the T and $1400 for the R. We took the R as a splurge and it was totally worth it. We would never have been able to afford to book it ahead of time, but with the upgrade price, we ended up saving over $6k from what that suite would have cost had we paid full price. We ended up paying less altogether than what it would have cost had we even booked a cat T ahead of time - a tremendous deal and we loved every second. Only problem is, we're totally spoiled now!

Wow...#12000 was a score! Great for you! I don't imagine that comes up very often as an upgrade opportunity.
Where is the supervisor desk?
How do some people know how much it would have cost to upgrade before a cruise (for comparisons). When I pull up a future cruise it doesn't show any possible upgrades yet. Possibly a certain amount of days prior?

Sometimes people mention how much it would have cost to book the category they ultimately end up upgrading to ahead of time. To do that, you can just pull up your reservation and see what the price is for the category you have in mind. For instance, I had been watching DCL's site before our September cruise on the Dream, and the cost for a category T (1-bedroom suite) was around $5,300. I could have "upgraded" to that category at any time. We chose to take our chances and wait until we got to port since there were 4 showing as available. DH and I had paid about $1,300 for category 7A and the port upgrade to category T cost $1,100 (it was Labor Day weekend, so the prices were a little higher). So our total price was around $2,400, or $2,900 less than it would have cost for us to upgrade to a category T before we sailed.
I really think it's a crapshoot. We waited in the garage in June and there were about 20-30 people ahead of us but we were first in the supervisor's line for an upgrade. I think if you do all of your docs and info online and don't have a bunch of carryon that has to be scanned, you will be better off. But just my 2 cents. Not everyone wants to try and upgrade. So, at least you have that going for you. Good luck!
Does anyone know where the supervisors desk is at Port of Miami?

I also too a picture if the upgrade sheet. I'll post it soon.
I had the same question!!
Also, if we have two rooms (a Verandah and an Inside) for a family of five, can we upgrade and combine both rooms into one if we are able to snag a suite? Or would we only be able to upgrade one room to one room (and would I feel guilty in Concierge while my older teens are in an inside? No!)

We ended up not taking the upgrade.... this was our first cruise and we knew that if we took the upgrade we would never want to leave the room and experience the cruise! It was pretty awesome to even have the chance to upgrade though! I hope someone else was able to take advantage!![]()
