to get a SV as far as viewing the animals go?? I mean.....being that we have never stepped foot into AKV yet added on points there....we are clueless when it comes to the views. :confused3 I have looked at the point structures and wondered if there are more SV rooms than say Standard and because of that are Standard rooms harder to come by??? What makes CV rooms all that? :rotfl2: TIA

What would a Dis Board day be.........without a ??? from Denise??!!!!:rotfl2:

There are plenty of places to view animals around the resort, but when I have the points and know that I'm going to spend the time, I love seeing the animals right from my balcony. Our first stay was a year ago, on Arusha savannah and it was outstanding. In the subdued lighting at night, the animals could be seen and heard and I didn't have to leave my room to enjoy them. In December, we had value studio on Sunset Savannah, not as many animals, but still we were lucky to have the savannah view from our balcony.
In June, I stayed with friends in value 1 bedroom that was facing the pool area, nice. I did look out and enjoy the view, but found the pool to be a bit noisy at night as I heard the shouts of people. The noise didn't keep me up, but still, I was surprised that the sound carried through the sliders. During June, my DS was in an Uzima savannah studio and what a view of animals he had. He was so pleased with his accomodations, he almost kids me a bit less about my DVC/WDW obscession:rotfl:

I have a 3 night stay with a DGF next week, and we have a savannah view studio. 90% of my stays at AKV will be in a Savannah view something. I'll book value for weekend stays, but even then, I have splurged. I bought AKV to see the animals from my room. In March, DH is joining me for a 3 night weekend, and I booked a Concierge Studio. We want to try that experience too, and his vacation time is too limited, we have to go weekends if we want to enjoy WDW/DVC as much as we can.

It's not that there aren't places to see animals away from the room. I want to see the animals from my room, while still in loungewear, enjoying a cup or glass of something. I also enjoy walking around the grounds, by the flamingos and talking to the CM's who hang around there.

Just an observation, but last week I noticed the animals were not as abundant on the savannahs. I imagine this is due to the construction, but I didn't feel let down staying in a standard view. Plus, like PP mentioned, most of our time was spent at the parks.

We will stay in SV once our kids get a little older and they both appreciate the view.

So are there views of the savannas if you get a Value or Standard??

In Jambo, standard is ONLY Pool view. In Kidani, standard will be pool or parking lot. So, if you get Value, which is only in Jambo, you do have a CHANCE to get a savannah view. However, Value (only in Jambo) can also be pool or parking lot as well.

Now having been to AKV twice, personal view is that I probably would not stay there unless I had savanna view. Sure there are viewing areas but being able to have constant view from your room of a savanna with animals is really a large plus and to us a main reason for owning at AKV. There are currently three savannas, Arusha, which is in the middle of the large U-shaped AKL/Jambo building, Uzima which is to the right side of that U, and Sunset which is to the left side. Most of the savanna views at Kidani will be of Sunset, and they are adding a new savanna outside the northern part of the Kidani

About 80% of all rooms are, and will be when Kidani is done, savanna view. None of the "standard" views is or will be savanna -- at Jambo all standard views are of the pool, at Kidani they will be in the front of the building looking at road, pool, or garden areas. The small number of value rooms, only in Jambo, which are value because of smaller room size not view, are all in the front part of Jambo (essentially the bottom of that U) with some having pool view, some parking lot, and some of the sunset savanna.

yeah I decided that if I am going to stay at AKV I want SV too. I mean if I just needed a one night stay for some reason..sure I would take whatever but if I am going to experience AKV then I want the view too. So thanks......:goodvibes

When I booked our trip for Spring Break 09 I was told that there can be no guarantee to see any animals from a Savanna View Room. I'm not sure when your going but, I guess until Kidani is completely done, the Savanna's and the animals might be sparse. I booked a standard view, 2 bedroom, in Jambo House.
