Let's talk sandwiches

Sandwiches ~ My favourite food group, I luv, luv, luv them.

Will eat anything on a sandwich except egg.

My favorite sandwich is a vegetarian pan bagnat: fresh mozzarella, good tomatoes, kalamata olives, fresh basil, and red onions on a hollowed out crusty loaf that's been rubbed with garlic and sprinkled with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

That sounds wonderful -- except for the onions. I'd have to 86 those! :thumbsup2

It's all about the bread for me! There's nothing like a good chewy French or sourdough.

My latest kick has been Jimmy John's. My friend got me started on them. By themselves, their sandwiches are OK--overpriced, undersized, and not particularly special. But then my friend introduced me to the trick of adding their barbecue kettle chips to the sandwich itself. WOW!!! It turns it from blah to sublime! I know it sounds strange, but turkey, provolone, and barbecue chips makes a wonderful sandwich!

omg...I must have one of these!!!

The only meat I will do on a sandwich is day after Thanksgiving. And then it's turkey, mayo, salt and pepper, and whatever other things are leftover - stuffing, cranberries, creamed onions, etc.

Good sandwich on a normal day:

Swiss cheese, mayo on white. Maybe some cucumber or avacado on there. Mmmmm.

My dad and his brother used to eat the weirdest sandwiches. They would put whatever leftover meat they had, add salad with salad dressing (Ddad was 1000 islands, uncle was French), add other condiments like mustard and sandwich spread and then their piece de resistance - cereal (Ddad used cornflakes and uncle used rice krispies). They would gross everyone else out.

Maybe this is why I don't eat sandwiches as a rule?

Wowsa sounds deeeeeeeeeeelish.

A friend introduced me to a "polish tomato sandwich"

Essentially - a crusty italian bread, slice of quality mozzerella, and thick slices fresh flavorful ripe off the vine tomato. Sprinle the bread with a little zesty vinegarette .

Thank GOd I have tomatos that should ripen soon. :woohoo:

Has anyone tried one of those new Frescata sandwiches at Wendy's? I could REALLY go for the roast turkey and pesto sandwich right now.

I'm not much of a sandwich eater (I'd rather eat leftovers or a salad) but when I do, I have three favorites...

1) Ham and Swiss with brown mustard and SWEET pickles

2) Peanutbutter and sliced bananas

3) Grilled cheese with tomato

Oh yum now you have me craving an egg salad sandwich. Must make a batch tomorrow.

I'm not sure there's anything in the world I like more than wonderful bread!

The sandwich I've made a few times in the past week consists of monterey- jack- with-jalapeno-cheese, shredded carrots, chick peas, romaine lettuce, and homemade salad dressing (only because I'm out of Vegannaise!) and salt/pepper on multigrain pitettes (miniature pitas).

If I wasn't trying to be health conscious, I'd probably eat a grilled cheese with tomato and mustard on sunflower bread every single day of my life. And I'd wash it down with an ice-cold Coke!

I LOVE sandwiches.

My favorite is tuna salad, made with spicy mustard, shredded carrots, onions, peppers, and shredded zucchini.
Put that on 12 grain bread with spinach and tomatoes - YUM YUM YUM. :teeth:

Very filling and only about 3 WW pts. :goodvibes

I've been on a turkey kick lately. Turkey, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mayo. If I have some handy, I like green pepper too. I loooooooove a good sandwich.

My favorite is roast beef and colby on a sweet roll though. I don't eat those very often though. :rotfl:

I like alot of deli meat, lettuce, sprouts from time to time, mayo. and alot of it, cheese, and black pepper.
I prefer mustard on my hot dogs, but not my sandwiches unless it is honey dijon. And will eat the tomato from time to time if it is in the sandwich, but I usually pick it out or don't put any in.
