Let's Talk Remodeling

binny,
your house looks wonderful!!! Good job!!

My stucco guy is finally coming today!! (Maybe I shouldn't say that too loud)
He needs to stucco the new columns on the front porch, and my husband needs to finish the new porch roof with the copper and then the front will be finally done.
During our remodeling phase of the main part of the house, my husband built 2 new roof peaks in the front, installed french door and new windows, a new porch and a new front door. I'll have to post some before and after, it doesn't look like the same house!

Binny, nice job - it came out great.

I love covered porches and porch swings!

Thank you!

It was a lot of work but I am really happy with it! A few more months and we will start back up on the ktchen. Its always something isnt it?

Yes, we must have pictures! That seems to be the lastest remodeling craze here, stucco-ing the front of brick homes. There is one in our neighborhood that was done & it really gave the house a whole new look! My poor husband was quite sad that I had noticed it! ;)

Does anyone remember where, or approximately where, in this thread AMITY was describing how to change the color of a light fixture? I like my dining room light, but it's gold toned and I'd like to change it to a black finish. I know there was some special products and process that was described in great detail.

FINALLY got the cupboard around the fridge, the floor in and MOST of the trim board in....

It was a paint product from Michael's. She used this on her light fixtures & her cabinet hardware in the bathroom. http://www.michaels.com/art/online/displayProductPage?productNum=cp0234&channelid=

I missed this thread and went searching for it. Anyone still around?

We finally got our stucco done in the front and the copper roof and tile on the front porch. Still need to take photos

Our biggest project this summer has been DH finally building our waterfall on our back hill! It took him almost the entire summer. (May till August)

Looks great! That looks like a LOT of work! WOW!

You must have been reading my mind. I emailed Am_I_There_Yet earlier this week (since she's no longer on the DIS) to let her know I finally finished up my backsplash grout. I know I know. MONTHS later. lol But a trip & summer got in the way. With holidays approaching, I decided to get back to work.

In Feb, we installed tile & maybe some of you will remember that the grout dried lighter than the chart showed it would. Lived with it all summer & still didn't like how light it was. Purchased 3 colors of grout dye from www.groutdye.com, and I missed a custom blend, put it on the unsealed grout, followed instructions, and ITS PERFECT NOW!!! :thumbsup2 I'll be sealing it this week now. FINALLY.

Next will be staining the molding we bought for tops of cabinets; and having installed. Decided not to do the installation of that ourselves. We have a carpenter friend who owes us for some computer work & he'll be doing it.

Getting there!! This is the longest its ever taken us on a project. Pathetic really. lol

That picture is beautiful!

We're finally almost done re-finishing up our basement. I don't know if I mentioned it here that we got flooded last April. We ended up installing one of those Bdry systems (well, the Bdry people installed it) and had to basically redo the entire basement that we had really just finished! At least it looks better now cause we took the time to fix it up. I'll post before and after pics when we finish finishing up

Anyways...when I have time, I'll go thru this thread, hope to see some cool pics :)
We are doing our kitchen cabinets right now...so I'll post some pics soon.

Ok...so I went thru "Most" of this thread...it sucks that alot of the pics have been removed from the hosting sites!!

I hope some of the original posters (and NEW people) post on here!

There is more than one way to get photos & updates here you know. ;)
