Let's talk High School Football playoffs!!

Our team stank this year. 3 - 7. And as a marching band parent, all I can say is I'm glad. I am so done with marching band for the year. :rotfl:

Our team is still in playoffs.... Lima Central Catholic in Lima, OH Go T-Birds!
Tomorrow night is regional finals then hopefully next week state semi-finals. Good Luck everyone!

Us too! We are 12-0 now. We play quarter finals tonight. We're very excited.

We think we hve a good chance to win tonight, and if so, we'll play semi-finals on Black Friday, and then the state championship game will be Dec 2nd (yeah, a Thursday!) and we're (hopefully) going!

Hopefully, meaning we WILL go if our team makes it. :)

Phew! We won 14-3 but it was a fight the whole way. We actually have 1 more W to earn before we're in the finals. Go Tornadoes!!

Our team WON yesterday. We held them scoreless until 4 minutes left in the game when we put in our JV squad. :thumbsup2 This was without our top running back and our all state defensive lineman (injured early in the game). Hopefully he will be back for finals next week. I think they kept the running back out because they were doing ok without him (sprained ankle) and wanted him to rest for next week.

#2 in the nation St Thomas rolled over its 1st round opponent in the playoffs 59-0. Looking foward to the rematch against Manetee this year.

Our local team (where my grandchildren go to school) is one game away from the state championship. They are undefeated and playing in Marquette this afternoon. They had no school yesterday, so the team could go up early and practice and so parents/families, etc. could drive up there for the game as it's a l-o-n-g way up there from mid-Michigan. If they win today, they will play in Ford Field the day after Thanksgiving for the championship.

Another local team (where DH went, and our kids went) is also in the playoffs today. They won their division by the skin of their teeth, but have won every game since then. If they win today, they too will be in the championship game at Ford Field the day after Thanksgiving.

So, we are pretty excited about the football playoffs this year. :goodvibes

Our local team will be in the state championship game next Friday at Ford Field, first time ever.

The other local team got beat in the semi-final. :(

HS football barely exists in NJ. My son's HS only had about 20 players on their team and made it to the state playoffs (lost in the first round), but that was still quite an achievement.

My son is in the marching band and they won the state championship for the second year in a row, 3 in the last 4 years. They also placed 2nd in All-States for the northeast. They were awesome, and we are sad to see the marching band season end.

Remember to be gracious winners. It could be much worse. My tenure in varsity football, 3 seasons, 3-32 record.

Ouch.

Our Regina Regals won the Iowa 2-A Football Championship on Saturday, beating North Polk 21 - 0!! This is only our second year in Class 2-A.

The Regals have had an amazing season, with an undefeated record 14 - 0, and even beating Solon, the eventual Class 3-A Champions!

Our defense has been incredible:
- Eight shut-outs
- Only one touchdown given up all season by our first team defense
- No school has scored more than one touchdown against us, and most of those were against the reserves that were put in late in the second halves
- Defense gave up a state-best 4.1 points per game

As well as gracious losers. One perennial football powerhouse in our state is notorious for their poor sportsmanship and the comments from people there to the various articles about the state tournament are downright embarrassing for that school. They are whining about their loss to a better team, saying that the teams the did make the semi's and finals really aren't any good, just lucky-nevermind that they are undefeated where this other team has lost twice this season :confused3. It is really sad.

Our team annihilated Warren Collegiate in the semi-finals on Saturday. I believe the final score was 52-7. We had a running clock throughout the second half. Our Hudson Tigers play Saturday at 10 on Ford Field. We'll be there with the rest of our City dressed in orange and black! For a small town, we travel very well in support of our teams. :woohoo:

Very very important. When we beat our rival school, there were people from their school who slashed the tires on teh cars from our school. After that, we were told never to park in their school parking lot again because our school admins. did not consider it safe.

What was even worse, when we went to state championships, we lost and students from the other school were throwing rocks at our busses, a few cars had their windows smashed out, etc. We were afraid to think what would have happened if we had beat them.

It's high school football. It has gotten so out of control in some places.

But that goes for anything. We went to Magic Music Days in Disney and our rival school was there as well and they were sitting next to us at teh awards ceremony and they were cursing at us and flipping us off. The band directors adn chaperones form their shcool did nothing about it. They finally stopped when Disney security threatened to throw them all out.

It exists here but no one bothers to go see it other than the kids parents and the football players girlfriends. Sure not a big crowd drawer! I never even realized people went to those games other than kids parents even in other states until people on the Dis started talking about how it is the big night out in places!

There were 36,000 people in attendance at the state semi-finals this past weekend here in MN. We draw about 5000 at our regular home games here. It isn't as "big" as it is in Texas but a good portion of the town shows up for games.

As you can see from my avatar and user name, I am from the south. I went to HS in Alabama, and also attended UA. My HS stadium seated nearly 20,000 people. Our school only had 850 students. We sold out EVERY game. Think about it.

Yeah, HS football is like a religion in many parts of America. Sad that it hasn't taken off up here. Without the funding that comes from football revenue, many other sports wouldn't be played in southern schools.

Don Bosco is one of the better schools in the nation. They won the national championship last year.
STA wont 49-7 next up Boyd Anderson who we beat 52-13 during the regular season.

DH and DD14 went to the semi-finals tonight, even though it's a 2 1/2 hour drive and it's freezing outside. And WE WON!!! State championship will be played next Thursday at 11:00am. Yes, DH and I are both taking off work! And DD doesn't even go to public school! :lmao:

But thankfully, we haven't experienced any poor sportsmanship from winners or losers this season.

We are state bound also!!!

Friday at 3:30!! Go Tornadoes!!

Only DD will be attending from our home though. DH and I have to work and can't get off. :( DD is hoping for her 3rd state championship ring. Here's hoping!! HS is big here but not like Texas.

We had some sore losers last week. :( Christian school, too. They were trying to start fights in the locker room and they actually had to call in police. This week a large group of them showed up at the game. I guess they came back for a little more of what they got last week. ;) Towards the end of the game this week, there were several incidences of the other team really trying to just hurt players on our team for next week's game. Can you say "flag on the play?" Luckily, no one got hurt.
