I don't post much, I guess I am a little shy though I make up for it in person. I usually have a wait and see method. Any question I have will come up here sooner or later and be answered by a very knowledgable DISer. The thing is I just can't wait until someone gets as excited as me about MAY! My trip is scheduled for Tuesday May 4th for 4 nights, staying across the street on Harbor. This is my 2nd trip within a year. Oh I wish I would have upgraded to AP last visit. I am dragging my DH along for our anniversary along with our DS (who is not nearly as excited as he used to be about trips :confused3.)

Anyway to the point... What to expect during our trip? Whats going on at that time?

The reason I ask is our last two trips were a little crazy. We went in June 2007( I think that was the year) during the opening of Finding Nemo (never would stand in line that trip to ride it), as well as Grad nights and tons of school fieldtrips. Then we went last June the week before Summer Night Tastic (or whatever it was called) debut, grad nights and school field trips again. It was very crowded. I also found out it was right before the AP blackout dates kicked in.

I am hoping I finally chose a time that won't be so crowded. I know that the parks open alot later and close earlier. I have included a Friday as to hopefully see some parade or something. I am hoping that 'Celebrate' is gone as I wasnt very impressed. I am hoping that the ROA will be filled by the time we get there. I am not expecting Fantasmic ( I have never seen a whole show yet it hasnt been offered the last two times I went :sad2: Well it gives me a reason to keep going back.

Ok I keep going on and on. Maybe thats why I never start posting on here.

So incase you forgot after all my rambling... What should we expect or not expect the first week in May?

Thanks so much for all your valuable information, there is no place like disboards!

I might be a little nervous about the crowds that WOC will bring in. But they might stay at CA. I hope you have a low crowd, fun filled trip :goodvibes

I love May, especially early May, crowds tend to be lighter, weather is great, you should be going at a great time! Enjoy!

We are going May 1-8 (can't wait). We went last year same week (May 3-9) and found it was a great time to go...there was plenty of people there but you never had to wait longer than 15 minutes for most rides (Toy Story Mania being the exception of 30 minutes)...we have small kids so we were able to take advantage of the parent swap as well as fast passes. Also the park hours are shorter during that time (usually 10am-8pm on weekdays for DL), so it was perfect for our young family.

Thanks all for the info and well wishes. I am excited about WOC. If it is too crowded we would probably save WOC for next trip.

Does anyone know of any big events scheduled in the Anaheim area the first week in May?

Does it rain in early May much there at that time of year, I wouldn't mind the rain one bit.

Thanks again for the help!

According to the Unofficial Guide to DL, there are 2 conventions scheduled. May 5 - 9 is the Business Professionals of America/National Leadership Conference with 5100 attendees. the other is the Pri-Med West Conference Exhibition May 5 - 8 with 14,000 attendees.

We have been in May and are choosing to go again in May this year. We had a 4yo and 11mth old last time and didn't want too long of lines - Wed was the first day in DL it was around 74 degrees and no line longer than 15 min.(didn't try the 'grownup rides). Thur we went into CA, hardly any wait, some kids rides we just went around and got back on the next time. Fri it was mid 80's and we went to early entry Toon Town then caught a parade - went back to hotel, swam and rested then headed out to the night time parade. Friday there were longer lines and more Bands, Choirs, Clubs, school groups etc.

Thanks for the link Hydroguy. I had remembered seeing that post once and couldn't find it. That was exactly what I was looking for.

Depending on my work schedule, we may be going May 1-5 to celebrate our 1 year anniversary on the 2nd. We would drive down on the 1st, and since we would be blocked out that day, we would hang around the resort and DTD. Then we would be in the parks from the 2nd to part of the 5th. Looking at maybe staying at PPH if they have a good rate for then.

Anyways, I am hoping crowds will not be bad due to WOC. I hope it opens the weekend before as planned and then thins out a little before we get there!

We went at the end of April on our last trip (2006). We'll see how May goes. We'll be driving out starting on the 8th, with a check in on the 9th.

When we were there last time, they had a lot of the night time activities up and running, but it doesn't sound like that will be the case this time. Hopefully the opening of WOC won't make things too busy since we'll be there during the week instead of weekend days.
