Let's talk about.......BAR B QUE'S!!!

It is actually "summer" here in Miami, we do not have a spring, we go straight to summer after Feb. 15! We went Bar B Que grill shopping today, and bought a Jenn Aire! It was around $750.00 and we have NO idea how to cook on it, but, with trial and error we will learn......we pick it up on Thurs. So, what kind of grill do you have?

I'm not sure of the brand, but we use the thing all the time! Being that we live in Chicago, grilling season is short, and we really look forward to it. It was nice here on Sunday and we grilled filets- yummy!!

we bought a kenmore elite last spring...$1400.00 we use it year round, it's under a roof on our deck...8 burners, side burner, 2 warming things, and it's stainless steel...I LOVE IT! that is when DH lets me use it...it's his "man kitchen"

Is your JennAire gas or charcoal?
We have a gas grill that I use all the time because I love to grill. Even in the dead of winter when it's cold (for Texas anyway), I will be o ut there grilling burgers or chicken or whatever. I would rather die than give up my grill.


Oh..and don't forget to buy a 'grill set' of tools, which includes a grill brush, giant spatula, etc. The grill brush is a MUST! You must brush the grill before each use to get rid of crusty particles that may have stuck or burned on there from the last use. To avoid getting stuff stuck on there, I recommend using PAM or another non-stick spray on your grates prior to use. Really helps keep your food from sticking and keeps cleanup to a minimum.

My family and I are getting my DH a Weber grill for his 40th birthday next month. He's always wanted one.

We grill 12 months out of the year, which, here in Maine, can be a challenge. We keep a shovel right on the deck and will make a path to the grill when necessary!

We have a cheapie Char-Broil but I was looking at some nicer grills the other day. Probably won't upgrade until next summer though. We have a patio and fence to put in this summer. UGH!

Here in central Texas, Grilling is a 12 month affair. I have a 15 yr old gas grill that works fine and I think I've replaced or rebuilt every piece on it other than the central "firebox".

I've seen ones like you have at Home Depot and drool over them everytime I go there (Home Depot = Toys R Us for adults!).

My favorite grill gadget is a wok type item. Its box shaped with slanted sides and holes all around.

I like to take shrimp and peppers cut into strips and grill them. I toss them with olive oil and lowry's season salt before I throw them on the grill. It only takes a few minutes and they taste great, especially if you use some of the flavored wood chips. I've got a great sauce I use on them if anyone wants it.

I love my gas grill. We can grill year-round, but for some reason we don't grill as often during the winter. I love getting a huge salmon filet, sprinkling it with some Paul Prudhomme sesoning, wrapping it in foil and placing it out on the grill - mmm...the best!

We have a cheapie charcoal grill that is on its last leg. I would really like to buy the charcoal/gas combo if we can afford it. My husband loves to BBQ, did so for the first time last night. I think if we had a gas grill we would probally grill year round, but with a charcaol, it is just too hard in these Chicago winters.

We just bought a new Kenmore gas grill last weekend =) We, too, are in Central Texas and grill year round. DH also got a fire pit for Xmas and we cook foil packs on it as well =)

Fish, shrimp kabobs, corn, steak, chicken, it's all good on a grill! DH always makes us his own marinades =)

We live in Vermont and grill year round. We keep our grill under our covered porch. We bought a Stainless Kenmore last year and WE LOVE IT. We can remove the grate on one side of the grill and insert a cast iron pan. We grill potatoes and onions, zuccini and summer squash - yummy!

Yes, its a Gas Grill, but can also be used if you have a Gas line in your house, which we don't. So, I guess I will be using the foil packs a lot too. And, I will get some Pam spray, they have that for grills also.

We use good old charcoal at our house. Luckily here in Florida we can grill all year round. We have a screened porch and DH has even grilled out there during thunderstorms.

We have an older gas BBQ grille out back that we use time to time...plus an old hibachi style i will fire up with some charcoal..

Newest one is a portable charcoal grill i haul out (along with a Coleman camping stove) to beautiful Presque Isle Park on Lake Erie....

we'll do an all day picnic..bacon...eggs...homefries for breakfat...

spend some time fishing..tanning..swimming..

then do lunch...some burgers....salads...dogs...onions on the grill in an aluminum foil "boat"...

then back to the beach...

supper is either chicken, chops, ribs or steak...various salads and veggies....

I remember those Hibachi's too, do they still sell those? I also got a cover and a tool set for it. Jenn Aire is top of the line according to my DH!

PoohBear 123.....mine was a gift from about 10 years back...when BBQ-*** out back, i prefer using the hibachi...what a great job it does...

I'd take it out to Presque Isle...but, even though its rather small compared to BBQ grills....it weighs a ton...

anyway...the last time i remember seeing one for sale was at the Malll at A sporting good store spring of 2003..

PoohBear123--I recommend the book How to Grill by Steven Raichlen. It is a great grill book and I think it will be a great help to you in learning to use your grill.
