For fun.... Those of us who have either rencently cruised with Disney or recently spoke with Disney, compare 2013 release date info for the Wonder or Magic. Let's see if there is a pattern! :thumbsup2

We were recently on the wonder and booked a dummy cruise with the hope of something new and interesting for 2013. The cast member doing our dummy booking said the new itineries will be out "at the beginning of the year".

Anyone else care to share?

I was on the Wonder in early December and the booking agent told me they'd be out in a month or two.

In November onboard the Wonder, I was told at the beginning of the new year...

Summer of 2008 was announced near the end of Feb. 2007 & we booked in early March soon after they opened booking (we were using points for part and had to wait on the point charts to be released before we decided to go ahead with the ressie). Right after we booked the 4 night on points we booked the 3 night on cash and did B2B's. It was about 15 months out for us from when we booked until our cruise.... Our Med cruise this past summer however was announced & released in Oct. 2009 - nearly 22 months out. There simply is no set pattern but I would guess the end of Feb. like they did in 2007 if the rumors suggest early 2012...that is still EARLY 2012.

Following our 10-Day Med Cruise on the Magic this summer (our 4th DCL Cruise in the past 2.5 years), we were asked to complete an online survey that included a question re our likelihood of sailing on specific Disney itineraries in the future. In addition to the already-announced routes (e.g. Caribbean, Alaska, Galveston, NY, etc) there were two 7-night European itineraries listed: i) Rome, Messina, Kusadasi, Athens, Heraklion and ii) Rome, Genoa, Marseilles, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca and Sardinia. No years/dates were attached, but we interpreted this to suggest a likely return to Europe in 2013. But maybe not - perhaps they're just gauging interest. While we were disappointed that the potential sailings were only 7 nights (and noted this in our comments), we'd be quick to book either one of these (or perhaps both, back-to-back) for 2013. We've heard that 2013 sailings for the magic and Wonder will be announced in early January.

Just off the 12/17 Magic cruise. There are heavy rumors about an Eastern Med for 2013 including Greek islands, Turkey, and Croatia. EVERYONE was very careful to say that this is a rumor. We were told to expect an announcement in mid January.

No one was very forthcoming about the Wonder. They did say that the line was "hemorrhaging red ink" on the MR cruises.

We were also told that they were waiting to see how advance sales were going on the NY and Galveston cruises before anything was decided (but this info was from about 6 months ago.)

I really want Greece and Turkey! I've been to both and they are fantastic! <<fingers crossed>>

I know nothing but based on what ive heard on here:

Magic- Caribbean from Galveston, Europe in the summer (maybe Greek islands?). Madria did have Magic on their schedule in May and Oct...

Wonder- Heard many rumors... I dont know whats the most reliable so Ill just go with what I think:

Bahamas/Caribbean from Miami (5-7 nights), do Alaska in the summer. (Maybe visit Hawaii before and after going to Alaksa.)
From what I have heard, there was great feedback from Alaska but not MR. That why I think they still do Alaska in 2013.

Off topic but....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

The Port of Madeira has released a 2013 schedule that shows the Magic there on April 28 and October 16, 2013.

OK, I thought I had it wrong, but I checked again and it definitely is May 28, so the Magic will be sailing later than previous years. I'm so excited about another TA, but we are also hoping for a Panama Canal trip....what to do, what to do? :confused3 Winning the lottery would help! :goodvibes

Personally, I would do the Panama Canal. Just seems more interesting to me. But Im not saying a TA cruise looks boring!

Right now, I can only afford "regular" cruises (Bahamas, Caribbean..etc.) but I hope to do a PC or trans-atlantic cruise one day, regardless of cruise line.

Just as an FYI and probably a great kept secret a TA cruise is normally pretty cheap comparative to the fact that it is a 15 day cruise. I would say the last time we priced it, it was about 1/2 the cost of going to Hawaii and you get to see some really great ports.

Of course you have to cover the cost of the flight to Europe and then back from PC or vice versa. But depending on where you live it maybe cheaper than the plane ticket to LA.

We've done the EB and WBTA, and they were anything but boring. It's a great cruise experience, and I would do it again just for the Madeira stop. You might be surprised how affordable it is, especially if you shop around for airfare. Honestly, I can't justify doing a shorter cruise for the same amount of money anymore. The reason we took the first TA was due to the phenomenal GTY prices offered "last-minute" (two months in advance).

Yes, we're leaning toward a PC, but IF they have a Greek/Turkish/wherever else itinerary, and IF we can possibly afford it by then :goodvibes, I'd love to do a BTB with the TA.

We did the EB when our kids were toddlers. We've done the Med, Eastern, Western and bahamas and the EBTA was our favorite! I'd do it in a heartbeat again if the kids wouldn't miss so much school.

& rumor has it also that she's going into drydock in Venice in August

No she won't dry dock in August, as all of Europe is still on school hols.

I bet she dry docks towards the end of September, and then that will put the ship in a position to do the transatlantic back to the US mid October. The Med can be cool in October though and choppy.

Now all we need to do, is to find the ship in other ports. Someone has reported its booked into Ville Franche in July, but we now need to find Venice and fingers crossed Greek islands and Turkey.

Why wouldn't the Magic dry dock just because Europe's school's are still on summer break? Aren't the Transatlantics usually done the begining of Sept? So end of August dry dock sounds possible to me. Then again I am no expert :)

Many Italian companies shut down in August so it can feel as if the whole country is on vacation. Hotels have no occupancy, beaches are packed, etc. On the positive side, big cities like Rome have relatively little traffic as the locals have all left town. :rotfl:
