Let's survey this guy!

I must've had "survey this guy" tattooed on my forehead this weekend. I got hit with the "email" survey twice while walking from Soaring to GRR. And, on the way out, an exit-poller asked if I'd do an on-site survey. So my opinion from this weekend counts double. (Would count triple if I'd thought to give a different email address to the second person near GRR instead of telling her I'd already been claimed.) Usually, they just glance at me and find another target.

So if the Cove Bar cover charge goes away, you're welcome. Griped about that on both my surveys. Also plugged cheese dogs at Award Wieners 'cause now that someone's mentioned them in another thread, I want one.

I think I'm gonna make a point of getting polled during every visit so my opinions seem more common. Maybe I can get ranch dressing in the toppings bar at TPG. :)

I wonder what it is that causes the survey-taking CMs as certain people to take surveys over and over again  Me, I have no kids & am always in the Park either with other adults or solo, so maybe they think, "Ah! It'll be easy to get her to take the survey, as she has no stroller to park or kids with her that won't want to sit still long enough for her to take the survey!". Or maybe it's "Hey! She looks like she's been here about a million times, and will be ok with taking 5 minutes or so to answer some questions!"

Or it could just be random.

It's too bad you didn't get the survey that pays $100 when you're done. They used to pay either $100 in cash, $100 in Disney gift cards, or a $50 gift card for certain surveys. I have done so many surveys for them, but I guess I don't have the 'Let's survey this girl and pay her money' look about me!!:rotfl2:

Supposedly, the DVC folks have been known to stalk the lobby of the GCH and prey on unsuspecting guests relaxing in the comfy chairs, approaching them to listen to their DVC presentation. At the end of the presentation, the guests get a $100 gift card or cash. Again, I have not been so lucky...I got trapped on the phone with a DVC person once, and even though he was a nice, pleasant person, I didn't get $100 at the end!!

What?! That is insane! Sign me right up!!

OP, you must have been having such a good time you looked like you'd be willing to oblige.

I participated in an on-site survey when we stayed at the GCH in July and got $100 cash at the end.. Not bad for an hour!
During the discussion, one of the participants mentioned that he would like to see bellman available to help guests with their luggage at checkin and sure enough the next morning a row of bellmen were lined up in the lobby with carts to assist guests.. I wonder what else they have done as a result of guest surveys?

I have either done in park or email 4 surveys since mid August and none of them were for the bucks.

I have lost track of how many surveys I and DH have done. Some have been really short, 2 or 3 questions, and a few in the 5-10 minute range. I have also done several e-mail surveys; a couple of those were quite long. Never have we been offered any $$; boy, that would be nice.

I don't know if $100 would be enough to sit through a DVC presentation. I'd want to see the money up front.

OTOH, I'd gladly give an hour or so of my time to an in-depth survey/focus group if I knew the suggestions would be acted on as quickly as Wendy's experience.

We got $50, and it was WELL worth it. Our guide was lovely, low-pressure, casual and kind. DS got to be watched over in their kidcare area, and he watched Shrek (which led to an interesting discussion of if they should be showing a Dreamworks film at Disneyland), hubby and I got to sit in a nice air conditioned room and have water and coffee and sit in comfy chairs...lovely.

And then the guide was totally cool when we said we couldn't do it at that time, very lowkey, very nice...and 1.5 years later he was happy to take our money when we did buy in.

We got it b/c there was a stand-up thing in our room at PPH advertising that bonus. We're glad we took advantage of it (and were glad even BEFORE we finally bought in)!

I always have Ranch at TGP, I dip my onion rings in ranch & bbq sauce. :) I just ask for it at the counter, they have it because they have chicken strips. :) :)

We did the DVC presentation for some FP's. It was extremely easy and very low pressure. We said No and we were allowed to go, no high pressure at all.

I be willing to bet that they didn't add bellhops because of the participants suggestion. I'd bet they wondered why they weren't out when you arrived and a manager was told to get his crew to work.

I'm with you! I'm not in a position where I could afford to turn down $100 - or even $50, for that matter - and that includes both Disney money or cold, hard cash!! I would sit through a DVC presentation if I were approached at the GCH and I would take a 90-minute survey about the parks. I know that back in 2008, there were some DIS'ers approached inside DL to go to the Disneyland Hotel and take a 90-minute survey for $100 (either in cash form or in gift card form). I remember one person from the DIS turned it down!!:scared1: They couldn't take the 90 minutes out of the day to go to the DLH!!:scared1:

Eventually, I think the CM's started giving out only cash instead of gift cards. Some folks got $50 and some got $100 and the rest of us got nothing!! It's a very random, luck of the draw king of thing.

Sherry, for $50 or $100 it would take special circumstances for me to miss and hour of my day. I'm not from SoCal like yourself and Laura. So if I add up my trip expenses and divide by my time in the parks, I might be paying a lot to be there. Would $75 cover the cost of the time I was missing, maybe but it would be better if I was leaving the park for the day rather than going to dinner or an attraction or show.

No kidding, there is no way I would pass that up! A Disney gift card is just about the same as cash to me as much money as we spend there!

I can see that aspect of it too, I might be less willing if I were trying to fit a lot into my trip and just really didn't have the time. Then again, I'd look at it as an investment of sorts. Maybe that 90-minute break would afford me a character meal I might have not otherwise planned and then it's a win-win. :)

I'd feel ever so slightly guilty if I was paid to listen to a DVC pitch. There's a 0% chance that I'll ever sign up. It'd be less than 0 if such a thing was possible. :) So I'd be taking up the time of some kid trying to sell a product to make a buck and put food on the table, knowing they'll never close the deal. Bad karma.

OTOH, I'm perfectly willing to spend the same amount of time discussing aspects of the resort that do interest me and I'd do it for free. Tho I'd have no qualms about taking money, if offered, since I'd feel I was providing valuable information.

We were asked to participate in the DVC presentation in feb...$50 each, but we declined..it was our last day of our first ever trip to Disney. The holiday cost me $5000 so $100 was not going to be worth one hour of my last day in the park:sad1:

Right, but that's you. I would do it. And it doesn't matter where I am from. I may as well be from another state. When was the last time I was at DLR? Umm...December 19th of last year. For one day. And when is my next DLR trip? Umm...I don't have a date set....because money is a big issue...which is why $50 or $100 would be like gold to me!;)

We told them when they signed us up that we were not going to buy, they wanted us to do it anyway so we did. I didn't see it as not letting someone put food on their table, they get paid whether we buy or not so really it's more helping someone. The guy was really nice too, he gave us a couple of follow up home phone calls but he wasn't pushy at all. We wanted to buy in but we didn't like how it's only for 50 years...and when we would have bought in it would have been for 47 years because 3 years had already passed.

I'm with you Sherry!!!! I would absolutely 100% do it!!! We have, we did Shell Vacation Club presentations for $100 in Disney Dollars more then once and we did the DVC deal as well. If they offered me $50 or $100 to do it again I would in a flat second. :)

But....
Given I don't know the details of your trip, but let's say you were 2 people with 5 days at DLR.

$5,000/2 people (?) = $2,500/person
$2,500/ 5 days (?) = $500/day

$100 for one hour would be a great value in my opinion if you are looking at it in terms of overall cost of your trip.

I have done many a survey and DLR. I have never been offered cash for one.
