Let's start a new December rental car thread

Steve - that is a very good rate for the full sized car. ($216.60 total) for 10 days. Which company are your reservations with? and how many people are you traveling with? (and how big are they?) Do you really need the mini-van?

I had a 10-day rental recently (mid-September) for $221 total, and after hours of research, I thought that was exceptional...although I did drop off at a different airport, I found no cheaper price even if I had returned it to MCO. That was through Alamo

Could you give me more info on the "priceless" code? Where does this come from? and what is "priceless?"

Currently I have a 7-day rental for a full-size with Budget, for $146.71 total. for December 5-12. That includes an upgrade coupon for a Premium, if available. (Hmmm - the agent said that upgrades are "not guaranteed" - we'll see how well that works out. That is still the best price I have found so far for a full-size for that week, so it is worth the shot.) It was found through the "Mastercard Promotion" on the "specials" page.

I got a midsize car from Alamo (I hope Im not sorry).
Dec 7-12 with a 1 day free coupon from the entertainment book
$123.93 total with taxes and all.
I had to call in though because online ti wouldnt let me use any discount codes.

I booked Dec 4 to 10 last night for $142 incl tax with National. Intermediate Emerald Aisle, Priceless Vacations code, $20 Entertainment Coupon. I'm hoping that will come down to around $115, that's what I paid in early December in previous years.

There's that Priceless Vacation code - can you please bring me up to speed on that? (hah - what a pun.) Where does it come from?

Thanks -

Maddle

I've had a minivan booked with National for months now for Nov. 27-Dec. 2 (5 days) using Priceless (6600330) and the Ent. Book $20 off coupon, bringing the total after all taxes, etc., to $188. I have checked the price for months and it hasn't moved. Well, it moved yesterday alright -- UP $20! Glad I booked early.

The Priceless Vacation website:

http://www.pricelessvacations.com/cars/

The contract code for National does not charge the 9.8% airport tax. I used it successfully in May.

Alamo dec 10-19th 188.89 total including everything, rates have been dropping like crazy was 215 i vary between the 15 bucks off or the one free day coupon to see which is cheaper, the rates have been dropping everyday so i go in and modify and get the new rate mid size 188.89

Anyone notice any changes yet for their December rental rates?

If you look at the details this is not a 10-day rate -- it's a 9-day rate plus 1 hr. I have exactly the same dates but arrive 10:30AM return 5:30PM and I'm down for $234.34, a true 10-day rate. (It has recently dropped to $225.58 but I haven't rebooked yet.)

12/5 - 12/11 through Dollar for a minivan with the Orlando Magicard code totals to $205.54 including taxes and fees.

Erikthewise - You are correct - I didn't notice that detail, just the "length of rental = 10 days.".....I think you should go ahead and rebook that $225 and not let it get away.

Who is your reservation with (and yours, too, Steve?) and is it for a full size?

On the one hand, I am glad to see that rates are dropping, but this means I/we have to start the hunt all over again....sigh....

Both reservations are with National. We are 4, DW, DD14, DD11 and DD14's friend (14). So my original thought was to get the Full Size. Then DD14 asked if we could pick up her friend in Tampa for a couple of days at Disney/Universal. This pushed us into the Mini-van realm and upped the cost by $100 :earseek:

So it looks like we will be needing the mini-van specifically because we will have 6 people and only 5 seatbelts in the full-size. That full-size would have been nice too...darn!

The Priceless vacation code gives you a discount off the price of the rental as well as dropping the "concession fee" from your rental. The discount varies depending on the base rate for the rental. I have successfully used this code with an Ent. Book free weekend day coupon in Tampa 2 weeks ago.

I have the same rate. Are you using the Priceless code and the $20 Entertainment coupon?

Sorcha

I can't get the Priceless website to work on the car rentals section. Do you need anything from there or to belong to use the code or is it a discount code that anyone can use?

Thanks.

Sorcha - Yes these are the codes I used for this rate. I was able to get it dropped to $137.00 last week. Noticed it has gone back up again this week.

Sorry - for the delayed response!

I've got a rate of $66.04, including taxes and fees, for an intermediate (Emerald Aisle) from National for December 9-12th.

This dropped last week from my original rate of $73.29.

I'm using the Priceless contract code, with a coupon for 1 free weekend day - also from priceless.

I'm really happy with this! I was only looking to get a compact, as it is a quick Mousefest solo trip - but it's cheaper to go with the Aisle!!

Bump

Just wanted to see if anyone has see a drop in rates for December yet. I haven't.

Steve

None here. Current rates are about $18 higher than I have reserved ($160 vs $142) for 12/4 to 12/10. I'm concerned about availability, usually rates for this time of year drop this close. Last year I paid around $115.

Mine's still at $255 for 10 days, and I reserved at $225. I'm not too concerned about availability -- if they were booked to capacity, the rates would be higher still. Last year we went the weekend after Thanksgiving and the rates went sky-high the last month, but we had no problem with availability.
