Let's speculate about Polynesian some more!

How likely do you think the Polynesian tower will be part of a new/old association?

As Poly resale owners, I'm becoming more and more indifferent towards the tower for two reasons: the lack of transportation options (especially when compared to the location of the DVC longhouses: it's a relatively easy walk to the GCH and TTC) and what will most definitely be a very high point chart. I can't see myself being excited to drain my points and then having to tell my kids they have two options: hoof it all away across the resort to get to the GCH monorail, or take the short cut and hoof it over to a completely different resort to get on it.

The thing I look forward to most once the decision is announced is reading all of the reactions on these boards. It should be fun reading.

I think the point chart will turn my 5 day portion of my split stay into 4 day portion.

There was no way to make FW part of another association because DVC doesn’t exist there.

So, I don’t think that would have anything to do with it..but, you are correct that maybe they don’t want to announce because it blows their messaging out of the water and want to wait as long as they can?

I can say that if the do make it the same, they will lose some credibility that resale will be restricted in the future…

Put us out of our misery!!

I agree with this. At this point it feels like they’re just reluctant to admit that they’re picking and choosing where to implement restrictions instead of having the integrity to stick with one set of rules.

I was hoping for a new association for a few reasons that many have already stated in these chats but as a Riviera owner, it’s really disappointing as it diminishes the value the resort further by doing this.

I guess it’s still early to assume but it is pretty telling they’re still not revealing anything. The only thing that gives me pause still is that they’re not heavily ROFRing Poly resale to begin preparing for direct sales of the same association.

And here I am going in a circle with my thought process again 😅

Likewise, we'll either see a lot of owners complaining about the influx new owners booking their longhouse studios at 11 months when they didn't care about the tower or owners complaining that their resale points are no good at the tower even though it's on PVB resort property. As a prospective buyer there's pros/cons to both, same association takes the pressure off of me to buy now while in active sales and I can buy resale whenever down the line and new association gives me the benefit of locking out current PVB owners and the bungalow points from being attached to the tower and buying direct means I'll be able to pair it together with my RIV points. Either way I don't have a choice so I'm not stressing over it but it's all very interesting.

I agree with you. Exercise ROFR now and it likely tips their hand. By not exercising ROFR before the announcement allows them to be flexible with their decision without having tipped their hand one way or another. If it's announced the same, they have the option to exercise ROFR aggressively, decreasing the number of potential direct buyers becoming actual resale buyers.

If it turns out to be a separate association, we will all remember them clearly having tipped their hand that it would be a separate association by not exercising ROFR all this time, since hindsight is 20/20. 🤣

Ahh very true- Disney would play mind games with us like that. I wonder if their teams read our forums and laugh at our speculations and mental gymnastics😅

I assure you, as a new resale owner at Poly, I will probably complain either way. We are only human. Yes, I want 11 month access, but no I don’t want those point charts. Oh and yes, I want the original studios all to myself, too.

There's almost no chance this opens late next year right? They have so much left to do. How long did the new Disney land hotel take to build?

Totally different construction technique, but VDH was not even topped off a year before opening. Poly2 seems reasonably doable and ahead of where VDH was.

Disney is saying it will open late next year. No idea if it actually will open on time. Look how long it’s taking them to build the Bake Shop at boardwalk.

Welp... Riviera opened late-2019. If we go by that timeline, the point charts were released and sales began to current owners at end of March 2019. So maybe we will hear a lot more news in the next 4 months. Crossing my fingers that it is NOT the same association as PVB1. 🤞
