Ok, it's a political thread, but a different kind. Let's see if anyone has the guts to take this on.

1) State who you are supporting in the Presidential election.
2) Give one reason why (It must be a valid reason. Not a "because the other guy is worse" excuse.)
3) Say one thing that you like/admire/respect about the other candidate. (It must be real. Not a backhanded compliment or a sarcastic response, but something that you genuinely like/admire/respect.)

I'm doing a little experiment to see whose supporters are the most honest or reasonable. So let's show that it is okay to support one person and still see a positive aspect in another person.

Any takers?

One more thing: No political debates. No negative "how can you say that about (blank) when he..." retorts

2) I have many reasons. I am most aligned on the issues with John McCain. I truly believe that he will act and has acted in the past on what he believes is best for this country. He is a very honorable man. He has a proven track record of reaching across the aisle.
3. Obama is an excellent motivational speaker. Biden demonstrated great character as a father after his first wife was killed in an accident.

2) His politics are closer to mine than McCain's are. I like his economic plan better, it will benefit me more than McCain's. I like his stance on environmental issues, the war, abortion. I think he takes an intellectual approach to learning and solving problems and is willing to find the best people to get the advice he needs. I like that he told Biden that he will be included in decision making that involves foreign policy.
3) I really respect McCain and his contribution to this country both in his service as a soldier and his service as a senator. I respect that he has been willing as a senator to speak his mind and not necessarily follow his party.

2. Purely Economic- He understands that you can't just keep spending money you don't have. And just printing more is going to kill our economy.
3. I like that John McCain is a moderate in his political thinking and I am grateful for his very brave service to our country.

2.) I agree with every issue, he will be a Diplomat, he understands that Iraq and Afghanistan aren't about winning or losing, but about helping create a secure and stable environment/Gov't there for the Iraqis and Afghan people, by getting rid of Insurgents.

3.) As a military family member, I truly respect Senator McCain for his loyal service and sacrifice to his country.

I think the best one I can pinpoint is exactly what Colin Powell referred to while endorsing Obama on Meet the Press...intellectual vigor. We have many problems that need to be dealt with in this country. I don't think anyone on the planet is capable of fixing all of them to everyone's liking - it perfectly impossible. However, I do believe that we need someone with a brilliant mind, who does think outside his party's box, who seeks counsel from the wisest of the wise, and sometimes from those we least expect. I want someone who is brilliant. I do not think the American people should settle for anything less. Obama has a brilliant mind, but he doesn't rest on that alone - he's intellectually curious and seeks information from those who are experts in their fields. I think we're going to see great ideas and great things come from him if he is elected.
3) Say one thing that you like/admire/respect about the other candidate. (It must be real. Not a backhanded compliment or a sarcastic response, but something that you genuinely like/admire/respect.) Honestly, the thing I like most about McCain is his scrappiness. Whether he's fighting his captives, his cancer, his fellow senators, what have you - he just have a verve and a capacity to keep fighting. Whether one believes in his politics or not doesn't or shouldn't matter. His will to fight, his ability to fight is something to be admired - because most of us don't have that inner strength to keep fighting. I think it's an admirable trait and one that has helped McCain serve all Americans well over the years. I thank him for his service.

McCain/Palin ticket represents my stand on just about every issue. I trust he will keep American safe.

Obama's / Sense of humor, I enjoyed watching him at roast last week.

He's for expanding our countries public education system (hopefully for early childhood & college)
I admire his ability to get to the point of a problem and empathize with Americans who are clearly struggling right now even though he is plainly not one of them. I like his eloquence and think his personality would be soothing to this countries current state of mind.

McCain
He's for a free economy and maintaining 'the American Way' which is capitalism with all its imperfections
I admire the fact he served in our Armed Forces. I admire the fact that he survived being a POW and has been able to create a nice life for himself despite being the victim of so many violent crimes. I like that he recognizes that Isolationism is a failure that brought us into the mess that was WW2, millions of lives could have been spared had we acted sooner back then.
