Let's plan Together! Jan 2009

Not to threadjack (sorry!) but from the article it looks like they will continue operating under some special circumstances clauses. Reduced flights probably, but I am willing to bet anythign from MSP isn't touched since it's their home base.

Their majority stockholder (who is NOT a member of their board, or CEO, Vp, anythign like that - just a money man) is suspected of fraud, and they are backing away from him. To do so, they have to file bankrupty since he owns the majority of stock - this way, they can take his shares and resell them to make up operating cost. They are one of the few airlines that wasn't losing money, so it's not an issue of them going under.

I'm trying to think positively, hoping you're right...!!!

We'll be there January 11th - 21st. Flying NWA, not too happy about that but it's the only airline that would get us to Orlando in the am. I didn't find out about the checked baggage fee until after I booked the flights. :sad2:

We booked for $249/person, it was actually cheaper to stay 10 days rather than 7.

We are also flying NWA we are going Jan2-8. What is the baggage charge?
I must not have read the fine print.

really? Based on just the airfare, or overall?

because i know that <start sarcasm> my wife and kids would be totally destroyed emotionally if we had to stay an extra 3 days <end sarcasm>

To the internetz! :surfweb:

As far as I know, it's 15.00 for the first checked bag, 25.00 for the second and 100.00/each for third and subsequent bags.

We are going January 13-21, and also flying NWA out of Detroit, the baggage charge will be $15 for the first bag and I think $25 or so for the second bag, not sure, I know that we are each only taking 1 bag! I can't complain too much though, our flights with all taxes, etc. were only $100 each r/t:cool1:

Hi Everyone!

Just found this post. My husband, daughter(2) and I will be down Jan 21-31. I can't wait!:yay: We will be staying at SSR for the first half and then moving to BWV for the second half.

I think I have all of our ADRs set. We will be getting APs and the DDE card (Tables in Wonderland?). I am trying to decide if it would be worth it to get the DDP for the first part of the trip also. We have reservations at LeCellier, Chef Mickey's and Turf Club for dinner some of those nights.

We still need airfare, though. AirTran seems to have the cheapest right now out of Buffalo. I am a little nervous as I have never flown on AirTran and We are spoiled by direct flights on SouthWest. Any thoughts/experiences to help me decide?

Thanks to all,
Krissy:hippie:

For what I found on Expedia, it was $1385 for 5 of us to fly for 10 days, it would have been $2,000 round trip if we had only stayed 7 days. We are staying with my mom in her timeshare for the first 7 days and then to POP for our first time on Disney property. So, with airfare and staying at POP for 3 nights, it's cheaper to stay for 10 days....darn! :rotfl:

Hi, I'm new here! I was looking for codes for Jan 2009 so I just looked through this thread and didnt see any? Have they not come out yet?
Any help would be great! Thanks

I don't live in Buffalo however I just got GREAT rates from southwest for Jan 10-17. We were originally going 10-16 but extended our stay by one day to get $89 each way and with 4 of us it was 798 total. I had been looking for a while and we had planned to drive. We looked at AirTran which had cheap rates but didn't like the fact we had to choose seating before hand and the seats left were very limited. So my dh suggested sunday to look at Southwest again (I had checked earlier in the week and rates had dropped from 159 to 109). 89 each way is the cheapest I've seen in some time. If it was me I'd keep checking every day. They will release cheaper fares as time gets closer. Good luck!

How on EARTH did you swing that? We're flying NWA out of Metro as well (1/22) and our tickets are almost 200/ea!

Well, I'm signing on to this thread...hubby just pretty much DARED me to book us another trip in January LOL I said that next year (we booked BB for free dining) was sounding so far away but I really wanted to go during the cooler months....etc. He said "What you should have done is booked January, that way we could get back there quicker" HUH????? Is that a challenge!!!!

So now, finding a code to make January work....LOL And still keep our Fall BB free dining in place :) LOL

Just came across this thread. We will be in WDW from Jan 12 - 16. Everything's booked. We're staying at Pop, on the dining plan. We've made 4 ADRS - Kona Cafe, Garden Grill, Biergarten, and 1900 Park Fare. We can't wait! Now, we're just hoping some codes or discounts will be released to help with the $ sitch.

We will be there Jan. 15th-18th & I've gotta know, will MK be horribly crowdede on Friday, the 16th? I'm planning on taking my dd 6 & my ds 2 to MK by myself on this day while dh is at a training in Orlando...can I manage it or will the crowds be too much for me to deal with on my own? TIA for any advice, tips, etc.

PS
We are staying on property so transportation isn't really a concern.

We are planning to stay at WDW for a few days before and after our Disney Cruise on Jan. 31. Are there any resort deals out there??? We booked the cruise last year while onboard, but we haven't made any resort reservations yet. If you know of any deals, I would love the help! Thanks!

Hello! As far as I know, the only discount for the end of January is an annual passholder room discount! You can check the Disney passholder site for more details. Or if you are a AAA member, I belive they give room discounts as well. Not sure the percentage off or how much savings, but it is worth looking into both! :)
