Lets "Help" DVC choose the next theme!

Sorry, I get confuseed what thread I'm on. Capri is awesome, have you been there? Cypress is great also. We were all set to book a trip there and then found out my wife was pregnant. Another great idea.

DAVE

Which was the great idea - Capri or your wife being pregnant?

These suggestions are fantastic. Keep 'em coming.

I would love a Wild Wild West/Ghost Town theme or an Italian theme.

I may be wrong but wasn't the inital plan for Eagle Pines designed as a tuscan/mediterranian theme?

I'd like to see a resort where pets are welcome! I'm sure they could come up with a theme around that. Maybe they could call it "Animal Kingdom Lodge"!

Dog Parks

Kitty Condos

Watering Holes

Fly Ball

Agility Contests

Watch out folks, I'm really getting into this!!!

Hey, I kinda liked the Kalamazoo DVC resort idea! For those of us "down on the farm", K'zoo is "Parieee", and only two hours away, too! :rotfl:

All of these ideas are good ones, but the Wild West theme just won't do if you happened to catch the movie "Westworld". Scarey! Give me Castaway Cay without getting on a boat, and I would be in Heaven!

I think MG's idea of a colonial "Williamsburg" kind of thing would fit with the overall " Americana" that was so much a part of Walt's Dreams.

Pity Disney doesn't own The Wizard of Oz, it would be interesting for a theme, yellow brick pathways, etc. You could have Munchinland, Emerald City, Winki land, etc. The pool could be themed with a Twister style water slide. A great poolside bar, modelled after Dorothy's crashed Kansas house. Plus, think of the cocktails, "Oh waiter, I'd like two Flying Monkeys please, a ruby slipper and a Glindapolitan"

Then for food, well, there's endless possiblities, the Wizard's palace. "Should I save room for Aunt Em's warm berry cobbler with vanilla sauce?"

Then again it could be amazingly cloying after a while.

So my alternative would be something Roman or Mediteranian. Given so much is known about Roman style with Pompeii and it was a waterside town, there would be more than enough basis for coming up with some very nice designs.

OK, I went to the beginning of the thread and read all of your ideas. I must say they are better than my AKL. You all are really doing a great job!

DAVE, you're a genius!!! I've heard that the folks at Disney read this board. Who knows, maybe it will happen!!

PS. Instead of AKL, they could call it "Pluto's"!

There were some really great ideas coming out of this thread. I'd like to see one or two of them in my lifetime

Indeed. I referenced this movie earlier in the thread. It's an older movie, and I wasn't sure if anyone here had seen it. :smokin:

A colonial theme. It could even be a large resort, and have an entire colonial village. This could be VERY nice if done to full potential.

Like Liberty Tree Tavern, American Adventure, etc... :smokin:

I love this idea! :thumbsup2

I still maintain that everybody needs to see Capri at least once in their lives I don't care if it's a tourist trap in the summer (we were there in spring before crowds hit so it was PERFECT - so quiet) it's popular for a reason.

If Disney could figure out a way to make this work as a resort. . I'd be the first one in line with a check!

Actually the author of the book westworld was based on was heavily inspired by Disney World

Is there any room around back of Typhoon Lagoon? Cause it seems to me that it has a "resort town" theme itself that is crying out for an actual RESORT!

Or the Hymalayan Themed AKVillas out our own backdoor of AK near Everest, right? Or is that area all filled up with useful park-running stuff?

I love the idea of Pompeii, so long as we can all avoid getting stuck there when the volcano goes off...... What about Ostia? Lovely, lovely....... I bet they hesitate to do anything too much like Portofino, though. Maybe one of those lovely greek fishing islands - that is some amazingly neat architecture.

How about Madison County Villas? Yeah, they could have lots of covered bridges connecting up the farmhouse theme villas.....Tributes to John Wayne and Red Delicous apples in the decor, it being the birthplace of both. Well on second thought, maybe it wouldn't sell so well. ;)

These are such fun ideas to read! Keep them coming!

I like this Typhoon Lagoon theme. Lush and tropical works for us as we travel from freezing upstate NY. We also like the water parks and it would be close to Disney's West side. Any land there to work with?

I remember watching the movie. Some runaway cowboy robot killing everyone. That's what disney needs. lol

I'd like to see a Ski Lodge theme. Goes along with Blizzard Beach.

I've always liked the Mexican/Adobe style buildings with archways. Although, the Mexican theme would lend itself to water saving landscaping with cactus and aloe...if it could take the high humidity of FL.
