Is Texas part of the south? or is it a western state?

Personally, I think of Texas as a southern state. Wyoming, Colorado, Oregon, California...now them there states be out west.

Texas is a southern state! maybe this will help

Neither or both. Many Texans I know would say it is a republic temporarily lending its resources to the U.S.A. Still it seems somewhat more western than southern to me.

i would not say south or west
probably mid west as it is in the middle of the country
when i hear south i think florida north or south carolina georgia
when i hear west i think california washington
all those states that run throught the middle of the country are mid states
so i guess its a mid state to me
but i dotn live there so it doesnt matter what i think
if chad lives there and he considers it a southern state then it is

I think of Texas as southwest....not exactly south, not entirely west. Hence, southwest .....not much help, am I If you were to draw an imaginary, vertical line through Teaxs, the right side would be southern and the left side would be western (IMHO)

I live in the South. I never really consider Texas a southern state, even though I know it technically is.

I would actually say southwest. They are really that far west, but when you think of a southerner, Texans don't quite seem to fit. I have never been there, but from how they are portrayed on tv and stuff, they seem to have their own culture.

I can't see how anyone can look at a map and say Texas is West. It is as middle and as south as you can get.
