Let's list 5 things we love about the summer. Maybe that will warm us all up!

In no particular order:

1.) Barbeque chicken - it tastes okay, but there is something about the smell and ritual of barbequeing chicken on the grill, on the deck, in amongst the container garden, that is so relaxing and just screams summer.

2.) The 4th of July -- I llike it more than Christmas. Why? Because family and friends get together in a relaxed atmosphere, without the worries or stresses of the holiday season, to relax and have a good time. You make potato salad, head over to a friends, enjoy a picnic, some laughs, set off some illegal fireworks, run screaming from the illegal fireworks ;), then head home. It's a fun, relaxing day. :teeth:

3.) Long days - I love that I wake up with the sun blazing and settle in for the night as the sun goes down.

4.) Fireflies, lady bugs, praying mantis and butterflies - they make me smile.

5.) Outdoor concerts and festivals - the summer breathes life into the Philadelphia area. People, food, different cultural celebrations, songs under the stars, dancing in the streets etc. :p

Anyone next? :D

1. The heat, about May it starts to get really warm, by June, we are in the 100s. By July, the pool temp is a pleasant 92 most days, by August, the pool temp is 94 to 96, and my tan looks good.

Sorry, I am not that imaginative! I love the heat!

1) Camping and kayaking/canoeing. Sitting up at 10 pm in T-Shirt and shorts, gazing at a nice campfire, and then at the summer stars. Paddling out on a mountain lake, not another human being in sight, listening to the wildlife talk.

2) Swimming in the pool. Having to duck under the umbrella to get out of the sun. Tossing the kids around in the water.

3) Softball. Running, hitting, catching, throwing. Sweating and getting dirty.

4) Walking through the neighborhood at dusk and actually seeing people out! Catching up with everyone, asking how their winter went.

5) Cookouts and clam boils. Sitting at a picnic table, having a feast. A beer on the side to wash it all down. Then stretching out on a lawn chair and dozing.

Bring it on - I'm ready! :)

Lets see.....

1) Day trips in a nice pair of shorts, t-shrits and a pair of sandles

2) sitting on the front porch sipping a cool drink and reading a nice book (I just discovered this this past summer).

3) Being able to walk along the Charles river with my Girlfriend.

4) Planning my Disney trip

5) No school!!!!!

1.) Sailing. With my parents mostly, but there is nothing like spending the day out on the ocean.

2.) 4th of July. I also enjoy this holiday. We always have a combination B-Day party for one of my nephews and the 4th of July fireworks.

3.) Cookouts. I agree with Maggie, the stuff tastes OK, but the whole ritual, and sitting around wondering if the stuff is done.

4.) Seeing DS in shorts and a tank top for the first time each summer. He is getting very tall, so he is all arms and legs now, and 'winter white'.

5.) My annual pillgramage to the Tweeter Center in Mansfield, MA to see Jimmy Buffet!!!!!!!!

I will try to come up with more when my brain unfreezes - but
