If anybody's going to be seeing Off Kilter perform in the next few weeks, I was wondering if someone might perhaps do ALL the Off Kilter fans a favor.
As you may know, there are many internet "radio" stations, including the Dis's own one, which are broadcast via Live365 or other systems. Among the many WONDERFUL Disney music that's played on these stations are several selections from Off Kilter.
However, Internet radio is being threatened by MUCH higher rates, and many groups (Yahoo, Live365, and many many others) have banded together to try to have Congress change this. As listeners, many people have contacted legislators to ask them to oppose the higher rates. But, it's not only listeners who can and should be trying to convince the legislators. The Artists too should be speaking out.
While Off Kilter is very popular & beloved by many of us here on the Dis, many more people, while hunting around online for music first experience their wonderful music and fun. Additionally, when you're away from the parks for far too long, the sound of Alive or Mari Mac can bring the magic home or to work.
So, if anybody's going to see Off Kilter in the next few weeks, if you would, ask them if they know about what's been going on with Internet radio, and if they'd like to make their voices heard, with the legislators, not just the fans. I can't & won't speculate how the Dis or other stations individually feel about the rate changes, I know many broadcasters fear they will have to cease operation and we'll lose the wonderful opportunities to hear Off Kilter away from the parks other than their CDs (which I love, don't misunderstand!).
Make sure that they know about what's going on, if you would, since it would be a shame for them to not even know that one venue for their music may be silenced.
Thanks, & keep on singing along to Sweet Home Alberta!
