Let's Get Ready for the Holidays

I think I fall into the too-much-junk camp with many of you. One other thing I do for my kids is to look ahead as the local theaters release their shows for the next season and try to make a "package" where they get to do lunch and a show with mom and/or dad. I try to find a Christmas one -- we gave our girls a trip to the Nutcracker one year -- or something playing in January/February. I've also done this for birthdays.

The more I think about it, I think my DD10 and DD7 (who share a room) will be getting a room makeover for Christmas. They have too much little-kid stuff, no desks, and have been begging to do this. We can give them some of the stuff (bedding, accessories) or Christmas morning and then spend the rest of the break doing the reno.

I like these kind of ideas better, but they sometimes mean a lot more work for me!
