It does seem funny I feel like being a late BB, I am kind of on the GenX cusp too.

On the Gen Edge, I think connected to their devices not to each other so much.

I know I know! I just see so much of a difference from a 25 year old to a 30- something year old. you're right though :)

Don't let the Baby Boomers and Gen Xers who are writing the NYTimes articles get you down. Every generation has written about "kids these days." Soon they will writing about the people younger than us. There are lots of amazing qualities I see in fellow millenials, and those in the generation after!

Gen X here:).

And I work with those Millennials who feel when they're done working they can just sit and play on their phones instead of looking for something else to do. There is always something to do, it might not be an urgent task that needs done but always something to do. It kills me that they think its ok to just sit and not work when they are on the clock and getting paid:sad2:.

I'm sure nobody in any other generation did something similar when they were young. No one has ever been lazy except millenials. It definitely has nothing to do with being young in general.

Yes I'm sure you're right but this is my experience right now, I don't have real life experience with others.

I know there's a lot of baby boomers because of the war, but what's the reason behind all the millenials?

I totally agree with you that there is overlap in the events, media, etc. that impact us. With these kind of things they have to make a judgement call about the cutoff point.
This one is important. And not only events, but role models (people), i.e. Who has each generation looked up to?

I would have guessed that there'd be a lot of GenXers here. We're the ones with kids of the right age to be going to Disney World, and we're old enough that we have some disposable money and jobs where we can play on the Dis at work occasionally.

ETA: Yes, I know millenials are old enough to have kids, and sure, some Boomers are here because of grandkids, but we're just talking general trends.

I think you're right. I'm a boomer now, but was a in the GenX age category (40) when I first came to the Dis for info on our first Disney vacation. I don't have grand kids yet so it's for my own entertainment that I'm on the Dis.

Funny, but I am not an identity thief. You need those elements to compose a natal chart. Birthdays are easy to find online. A birthtime and city is not generally useful to anyone anyway. Of the things you should secure those two rank low. Birthday is much more dangerous, and those are pretty public already.

Totally off subject, but identity thieves can get very close to your SSN with your time of birth and place of birth because numbers were assigned based on your region, zip code, and birth time up until June 2011.
Since SSNs become public at death your info can be compared against recently deceased people with similar birthdates and birth locations to determine your SSN. Carnegie Melon researchers were able to determine people’s SSNs with freakish accuracy.

Why I'm glad I have a random SSN (I only moved to the US after 2011, so have a recent SSN).

I see no resilience in The Edge generation. I also hate that name.

Edited to add - my SSN was stolen years ago, so I have no fears in that direction.

Wow, did not know this. Guess I assumed they were more random with assignments. *sigh*
