Good morning, ladies. :goodvibes Just popping in for a moment. Work is still busy and I've got a lot on my plate but thought I'd say "Hi". I'm leaving early this afternoon for several appointments, including one where I get a manicure and pedicure. I need both BADLY!!

DD comes home tomorrow for the weekend, so we're really looking forward to that. On Saturday, a family friend is hosting his annual Oktoberfest party at his house, so we'll be there after the lacrosse game.

DS is doing well. On the girlfriend front, he is trying to decide whether he wants to ask Homecoming girl out, or if he wants to pursue Prom girl. According to him, Homecoming girl is nice, but not really putting much effort into any sort of "relationship", while Prom girl has been very attentive. I swear this kid has more romantic alternatives at 17 then I ever had at any age!!! :lmao:

Take care, and I hope that all of yesterday's issues are smoothed out by today. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Girls:

Sandy: Enjoy the pamering - I have nails this afternoon also, but sadly no pedi scheduled. When I go to Portland at the end of the month my Aunt and I will go get a Pedi - she has an awesome pedi place up there. Oktoberfest sounds like fun - good luck on that lacross game and enjoy your visit with DD. Your DS cracks me up, living on the edge - or as my DS would say, "It's good to have options"

We are headed south to Gardnerville tomorrow night for the football game. Not sure if DS is back in the starting line up, should know this afternoon. The knee is doing fine, it is still sore, but he says it is not hindering his performance. G'Ville is about an hour and a half - it is south of Carson City. We usually stop in Carson for dinner and then on to the HS. My Aunt lives down there but I haven't been to the HS since my cousin graduated 7 or so years ago. We should be back home around midnight. Oh yeah, it is supposed to rain and then snow tomorrow:eek:

Saturday we are headed to the fall preview at UNR that we skipped last weekend when we learned it would also be held this weekend. DD has a softball game on Saturday afternoon and DH has been hinting at a "Date" Saturday night (wings and beer!) I'm a cheap date, it really is my favorite thing to do! Sunday, jammies................

My boys will be headed to the local sports bar on Sunday morning for the Patriots/Cowboys game. DH works with a couple of Dallas fans and they have been talking smack at each other for a couple of weeks now. The UPS guy has delivered new jerseys for each of my boys over the last week. DS already had a "Brady" one, so DH ordered one for himself "Moss", which DS promptly stole upon arrival so DH ordered another one (not sure whose name is on it) for himself and somehow along the way a 3rd "Extra" one was ordered which they were both trying to justify to me the other night (unsuccessfully I might add, I am the family penny pincher):lmao: I give up! Last count. 2 boys / 4 Patriots jerseys:confused3 What, do they change at half time:rotfl2:

Also, having a slumber party for DD next weekend:scared: it is her 1st slumber party and a belated B-day party due to our crazy schedules. She is inviting 9 girls :scared1: do you guys have any experiences you would like to share :) any entertainment ideas???? (Please, no nail polish or makeup I don't think I could handle it:eek: !)Anything we SHOULD NOT do?

She is set on the food (make your own sub sandwiches, chips, junk, grapes & cheese) 2 of her friends are vegetarians and she wants to make sure we accomodate them:rolleyes: We will be having french toast, eggs & sausage for breakfast. Of course there will be cupcakes and ice cream also. The ages will be 8-11 and I was thinking of the hours to be 6 p.m. to 10 a.m.. I am doing the invites tonight for her to take to school tomorrow.

I'm really looking for game ideas?

I am going to replace my Twister game, I have the spinner but can't find the mat..............

There is the blindfolded scoop the cotton balls into the bowl game..........

Then I run out of ideas.................. Help!

That is about it - have a great day, back to my oh so buried desk...............

Sounds like you've got a busy weekend ahead of you. Glad to hear that DS's knee is better.

Let us know how the college visit went. It's always interesting to hear what the kid's reaction is, even to a familiar school.

10 girls for a slumber party!! :scared1: You are a MUCH braver woman than me. I think the most we ever did was 6. I'm not good in the games department so I can't help you there. We made them start watching a movie around 10:00 or 11:00 so they settled down a bit and we got a LITTLE quiet, which is hard to do with giggling girls.

Have fun. Gotta get back to work if I stand a chance of getting out of here to get my fingers and toes done today!!

Back with new nails and toes. It's a good feeling - they look human again!!

DD will be home mid-afternoon. Can't wait to have her here. Although she'll be studying for mid-terms for part of the time, it will be nice just to have her around. :goodvibes

DS has asked Prom girl over to watch movies here tomorrow night, so I guess he's making a move!! ;)

Not much else to report, other than I'm getting a haircut this afternoon, so I'll really be all groomed by the end of the week!! :lmao:

I did complete my Open Enrollment this a.m.; wasn't going to post here again until I had it done!! :rotfl:

I hope that you're doing well, and I hope that you have great weekends.

Sandy: So glad you are getting yourself all put together;)
I got me some teal and black tipped nails yesterday! :cool1: Go Panthers!

I am a french manicure kind of girl but every year for homecoming I do the teal/black "french tip" I have a thin black stripe and then a glittery teal tip. the top of the nail is pink like a french. My nail girl added DS's # to one of my nails also.

Enjoy your weekend with your DD.:goodvibes

DS is coming by in about 2 hours and we are going to lunch. Then he is back at school to take a make up test he missed this week during his physical therapy. Then he is bringing his GF to my office after school. She and I will go pick up DH and we will all head south to DS's game. My Aunt and Uncle (if it is not raining) are going to come to the game, but their DD graduated from the HS we are visiting and they are torn as to which side to sit on:rolleyes: Also, my Aunts best friend is the VP at said HS! It is supposed to be 38 and raining:scared:

Horseshowmom: Have a great weekend - will you be unreachable next week? read....too busy getting massaged and eating room service to keep up with us!

If so, have a great week if not, talk at ya next week.

You girls have a great weekend

Your nails sound much prettier than mine - I got my regular French. But my toes are purple with flowers painted on the big toes, so I'm "stylin" there. :)

Have fun at the game and stay warm.

What about DS's knee and playing time on the football field?

Horseshowmom, have a safe trip to Tennessee!!!

Chicken!
On behalf of HR personnel all over :worship: :worship:
Just didn't want to disappoint you. :)

Actually, even though the Aetna website listed all of our doctors except mine as being on the plan for 2008, I called all of the doctors this morning and VERIFIED that they were accepting the Aetna PPO for 2008. I'm taking no chances!!!!

He has padded up all week for practice. I do not know if he got his "starting" position back yet, we won't know till we get there, even he doesn't know yet.

He says he is "ready" the Dr. said he is ready and his Physical Therapist said he is ready, so I am keeping my mouth shut and (secretly hoping he sits out one more week:rolleyes1 )His coach asked him yesterday if he was good to go? and he said yes. My worry is that the game tonight is in artificial turf which is harder than regular turf, but his knee is not damaged it may just hurt like heck if he lands on it. So, keeping my mouth shut............

What she said!

Sandy: Purple toes:thumbsup2 How fun, especially with winter coming. I have a plain french on my toes also. I'm kinda boring!

Gotta run - My MIL just sent me an email regarding their visit in June for DS's graduation - something about 14 days:scared1: I've got to go think of how to respond. I love my MIL, but 14 days of my FIL:scared: he might not make it!:lmao:

:goodvibes That is actually very smart - providers come and go and not all of them have contracts that coincide with your "benefit year". Always call and verify with the provider before visiting for the first time. :thumbsup2 Too bad my employees could not all be smart and on the ball like you!

I agree with you; I'd be secretly hoping he didn't play much (if at all) tonight. Fingers crossed that all goes well.

Maybe you could set them up in the pop up camper in the driveway? That might discourage them from staying longer than a few days. :rotfl:

Now, Purple Toes has to get back to work!!!!!! Ta ta!!

Aw shucks. Now I'm blushing. I'm sure many would call me paranoid. I think it's the cyncial lawyer coming out!!!

I actually had that thought go thru my head :guilty: :guilty: Oh dear, I think I will tell them we moved and give them an acquaintances address (since my only 2 real friends live too far away) :lmao:

I am the same way - my DH's company is in open enrollment next month. We are not making any changes to our benefits (will update FLEX #'s but no other changes) thus, we don't have anything to turn in and I still follow up with his HR dept. to make sure we remain enrolled. I am paranoid and cynical and suspicious and and and maybe I should have gone to law school.................instead of accounting school! Actually, if I could do anything, I would love to be an investigator for the Gaming Control Board here in NV. You get to be nosey, ask any questions you want and everyone is afraid since they must pass their financial background clearances to get their gaming licenses. (I worked for a family that went thru the investigation, I got all the paperwork in order)

My DS is sitting right here, reading over my shoulder...............He says to tell you that if the Rockies win their series against the D'Backs then they will face the Red Sox at the World Series. He says, you and I will not be allowed to speak for the duration of the World Series! :lmao: :lmao:

Gotta go, he wants food as usual!

Tell your DS that the Sox gotta get past the Indians FIRST!!!!!!!!!!!! Then they can play the Rockies. :)

My ultimate job would have been FBI Agent. DH and I were accepted into the program, but it was too late. Long story that I'll have to tell you sometime.

Works for me. You can forward your mail here. Might be a long commute to work, though.

I am thinking that is a foregone conclusion :rotfl2:

Oh, now I am intrigued:rotfl:

Good Morning Girls:

Horseshowmom: Are you enjoying room service right about now:goodvibes I wish you a wonderful relaxing week - while Sandy and I bite off our fingernails during overtime & extra innings!

So, Sandy............How about them Rockies:cool1: The Sox lost Saturday night,:sad2: badly, it was all good until close to the end.............I am not a huge baseball fan, it is slow and boring IMO but I will watch the end, especially like the other night! DS was in total agony and DH had given up and gone to bed! All is not yet lost however................

The Patriots game was good, per my boys, all I know was that they were gone all day, the house was quiet with just me and DD hanging out doing nothing! She slept til 11:30 and I enjoyed an entire pot of coffee all by myself while reading the paper - it is the little luxuries in life that make my day!

Last night our Wolfpack took on Boise State - we lost by 2 points in the 4th overtime - it was nuts! We were all on our feet yelling at the TV!

Spent Saturday at UNR. Had breakfast at the main dining facility (actually very good) it is an all you can eat food court type facility and the food was very good with lots of options. We took a tour of a couple of the dorms, sat thru presentations from the school of Science and the school of Business then decided we were done. (We skipped the campus tour) DS came home with a whole new enthusiasm towards UNR. He really liked the dorm and the funny thing is he didn't like the "new" dorm with private potty & shower as much as he liked the older dorms with the communal potty & showers. He said the new one felt hotelish and the old one fit his mental image/expectation of a dorm. There is another dorm we did not see that has what they call "suite" style which has a changing area with a sink. No potty or shower. He said that would be his 2nd choice and the newest dorm would be his 3rd choice.

Now we are trying to sort out the dining plan and what would be the best for him. Do we go "PLatinum" and he gets 21 meal "swipes" a week that do not carry over (use or lose per week) or do we go with the "Gold" plan that gives him 11 meal "swipes" a week but can be carried over week to week until the end of the Spring Semester. Both options come with "Cardcash" that they can use in various places on campus. Right now I am trying to determine what constitues a "swipe" and at what facilties a "swipe" is good at. My DH says that if we go with the Platinum then we should just plan to have a family dinner once a week with him to use up his balance for the week. (Except, during the orientation they told us that parents who join their kids for a meal are served free of charge). There is only an $80 difference between the Gold and the Platinum plans so that is my project this week along with his dorm application. BTW - he is still planning on applying to OSU and Humboldt but mainly to see "if he can get in" In all honesty, OSU is way out of our price range and we told him that. Humboldt is a little more doable although he doesn't like the structure of the dining plan. Great, that be my kid.......picks a college based on the meal plan and the availability of paint ball!

That's about it here - hope you all have a great day..............

Good morning to you too. Horseshowmom, I hope you got all of your work done and your In-Service Day went well on Saturday. Hope you're living in luxury and room service this week!! Enjoy yourself. :)

My goodness, this Rockies team is amazing. But they're killing my sleep patterns. I stayed up late Thursday and Friday for the games until the end, and thankfully last nights' game only lasted 9 innings, otherwise I would be exhausted this morning!! But they warm my heart.

Saw that the Red Sox had a difficult time Saturday night (well, I READ about it in the paper, as one more night of late night baseball would do me in so I didn't watch it.) Hang in there!!!

The Patriots game was good, per my boys, all I know was that they were gone all day, the house was quiet with just me and DD hanging out doing nothing! She slept til 11:30 and I enjoyed an entire pot of coffee all by myself while reading the paper - it is the little luxuries in life that make my day!
Sounds like a wonderful Sunday morning. We went out to brunch - took DD and DS before DD had to drive back to Boulder to study for mid-terms. I had the best biscuits and gravy, which is a big diet "no-no", but what the heck. . .

Last night our Wolfpack took on Boise State - we lost by 2 points in the 4th overtime - it was nuts! We were all on our feet yelling at the TV!
Sorry about your loss. Nebraska lost again - there's a lot of stuff going on there that needs to be fixed. We're still deciding if we're going back for the Texas A&M game next Saturday.

Glad that the campus tour went well. As for the meal plans, you know your kid best as to how often he'll visit the cafeteria. Breakfast is something that our DD never really did at the college cafeteria. I don't remember the exact choices, but they wer similar to yours - 21 meals per week, 14 per week, and something less. We went with the 14 for her and it seemed to work out well. It has some sort of cardcash like yours does, but I am too dense to have ever figured out the details - DD knew what it was and that was all that mattered.

At least your DS knows what's important - food and paintball. Having a good curriculum is just a little further down on the list!!! :rotfl:

That's about it here - hope you all have a great day..............
You too.

Weekend here was nice. Grilled steaks on Friday night and watched the Rockies game. Slept in a bit on Saturday morning and went to DS's lacrosse game. Went to the Oktoberfest party Saturday night, which was a lot of fun. Did the delicious brunch Sunday morning and DH and I ran a lot of errands yesterday afternoon. I made penne pasta for dinner last night and we sipped wine while the Rockies defeated the Diamondbacks YET AGAIN!!!!!

Tonight is more baseball, and maybe more wine. I have to watch myself - I get so nervous that I can hardly stand to watch the game, but then I can't stand to not know what's going on!!! Nuts, isn't it?

Well, back to work I guess. Have a great day, gals!!!

Hey Melissa!!! Just noticed you're filing YOUR taxes today, just like us. Guess we're even more alike than I thought. With DH being self-employed, this is an annual event!!! :rotfl2:
