I am laughing at the visual image I have in my head of you doing just that. Good for you!!! Carpet in bathrooms is SO wrong in many ways!!! :lmao:

ITA! The house came that way (none there now though! :thumbsup2 ).

And I've got to tell you, that the reality was probably as funny as what you're visualizing! :rotfl2: DH said he'd take care of it first thing in the morning and looked like this when he said it -

Got to leave now, I'll check in later!

Your grocery shopping expeditions sound like mine. How does it add up so quickly?!?!?!
How do they eat it so quickly is what I really want to know!

went in the bathroom and yanked all the carpet up off the floor (small bathroom ), and told him that I guess he could handle putting vinyl in there on his own.
I knew there was a reason I liked you - that is hillarious! Love it:lmao:

My Dh usually sleeps thru the puking episodes it is DS who usually gets up with me. We "bowl" trained DD very young. She has now graduated to the toilet, but there are times she still takes that dang bowl to bed. She pukes in the middle of the night for no reason.

Okay, here is my funny puke story - it is a neighborhood classic, everyone knows it and drags it out every once in awhile! Love my neighbors!

DD was maybe 3 it was late in the evening, she had gone to bed and woke up screaming, she had thrown up all over herself, the bed etc. DS and I go rushing in, DH is an early bird and had gone to bed, he sleeps with earplugs and was clueless.

I get DD into the bathtub in my master bath, she was covered in puke.:scared: I am getting her calmed and rinsed off when all of a sudden the power goes out:scared1:(our power almost never goes out) the house goes pitch black and DD who is terrified of the power going out starts to scream all the louder. Now she is in the tub, I cannot let go of her, I cannot see a thing or her, she is slippery and panicking, DS has gone looking for the flashlights and I was heard to say very loudly "Where the F#@!& is your Father?" :rolleyes1

DS comes running into the bathroom with a flashlight at the same time that DH jumped out of bed and comes rushing into the bathroom, his tighty whities as well as his wide open eyeballs are illuminated by the flashlight, he is confused, has no idea what is going on and has that mad scientist look to him and all I can do is start to laugh. I have water dripping off of my hair from the shower, puke all over me from DD and I am standing there laughing hysterically to the point they were all concerned thinking I might be headed for a padded cell.

I'm still in my pajamas; give me a few minutes to pull myself together!! :lmao:
But, it's not Sunday:confused3 why are you still in your Jammies - what is it almost NOON?????? Gheesh:lmao:
One of my greatest motherly "victories" was getting them to actually make it to the bathroom in time.
It's the little things in life....................:goodvibes

One of the benefits of working from home 2/3 of the time. :surfweb: As long as the work gets done, I can wear ANYTHING!

Maybe she's afraid the power will go out again, and her mother will go berserk (you know, she's trying to avoid the whole bathroom fiasco thing :rolleyes1 )! :rotfl2:

When they talked me into taking this job, one of the benefits was supposed to be that I could work from home as much as I wanted to (that pajama thing was a real lure for me too! ;) ). Unfortunately, my internet at home is dial-up, so I seldom get to work from there (I'd never have time to talk to the two of you as slow as my dial-up is! :rotfl2: ).

All this from the person who ripped out carpet to avoid cleaning the puke - should there not be some Kettle and Black involved here:rotfl:

Given my family history, they are always a little on edge:lmao:

Every once in awhile, DH will stop what he is doing and just stare at me.....:confused3 ........I'll look at him and say "What" and his response "Just checking" and he will return to what ever he was doing:rotfl2:

I would have thought they would have sold the travel, luxury hotel rooms and room service!

Wow:eek: people still have dial-up:rotfl2: and here I thought I lived in the boonies! I guess you should be glad you have plumbing..........you do have plumbing right?????

Personally, I don't know if I would be disciplined enough to work from home. I think the jammies would keep my brain thinking that I should be sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee yacking with my next door neighbor!

How are Chachi and your DH doing???? Is Tigger hanging in there in your absence?

Good Morning Girls:

I just have to brag :dance3: DS's teeth and his smile are awesome, amazing and beautiful! I came home last night after meeting a friend and walked in and he smiled, wow.....just wow........amazing what a difference!

It is cold, windy and was spitting sleet on my way to work. I am busily researching scholarships and slumber party game ideas this morning. :rolleyes1
Just wanted to pop in and say Hi - HI!!!!

Have a great day

Good morning to you too. :cool1:

Isn't it nice when they FINALLY get those braces off? Did he like the goody bag you made for him?

Not much going on here - weather is fall-like, but no snow here. They did get some up around Vail last night, I guess. The ski areas will be happy. We bought our annual passes on Sunday, so we're set!!!

Horseshowmom, hope you're enjoying your conference and your new digs, and that you got better sleep last night!

Back to work . . . .have a good day, all.
:goodvibes

I am so glad we did it. He had pretty straight teeth, but he had the fangs going on big time and he wanted them fixed. He loved his goodies (the taffy was a little hard:rotfl2: He ate all the way to the restaurant and then ate a double bacon burger, fries etc..........

We are hoping and praying we get snow here this year, last year was awful. DH and I do not ski (we really are not outdoorsy people) DS does and we are still contemplating enrolling DD into the Jr. Ski propgram that DS went to for years. She is such a sissy lala I hate to spend the bucks just to have her come home the first week and not want to go back, so DS will take her up to Mt. Rose for a day, plug her into the kiddo program and we will take it from there.

Amazing about their "bottomless pit" appetites, isn't it? :rotfl:

We had a good year for snow last year and am hoping for the same this year. DS didn't go much last year because he was scared of getting hurt for lacrosse. Then he hurt his knee anyway, so I think he decided "What the heck" and is going to go have fun!!!

I think doing the "ski test drive" with your DD is probably a good thing. Some people like skiing, but others don't. And that's okay. :thumbsup2

DS is retaking the AP Biology test on Friday. The teacher has been around for a long time and has a good reputation in general, but I think age or mean-spiritedness has caught up with him. The kids took an exam on Monday and DS told me that there were SCADS of things on there that had never been covered in class. He said there were terms on there that he had NO clue about. There were girls in class crying as they took this thing. :scared1:

The teacher graded it, and the highest grade was a middle B, and there were only 2 of them. The rest of the class got D's or F's. Apparently there was some parents calling the school that were very upset (I wasn't one of them, but this guy has changed since DD had him and I can see that he's got an onery streak now). I know that DS really studied hard this weekend for the test, so I feel like the kids were "set up". So they're doing a retest. Will be interesting to see how it all falls out.

Did the teacher agree to the retake? Who "created" the test, was it one of his old ones that maybe didn't match a new text book? Where are they getting a new test??
I hate when that stuff happens, teenagers already think the world is out to get them, let's not knowingly give them ammunition.

Hope the retake comes out better........

Yes, the teacher agreed to the retake. I don't know about how the original test was created or how he's putting together a new test.

Hey!! Novel thought. How about actually asking questions that cover THE MATERIAL YOU WENT OVER FOR WHAT THE KIDS THOUGHT WOULD BE ON THE ORIGINAL TEST?!?!?!

I'm not into spoon-feeding my kids, but when you ask at least 4 major essay questions on things never even covered in class, this is a badly written test. DS has his moments, but slacking on tests is not something he does.

Vent over.

I know where you are coming from - tests save my DS's butt more times than not:lmao:

Sounds like the teacher handed out a test that he didn't even bother to review himself. Ooops!

It will be interesting to see how the replacement goes. Since so many parents got involved did the administration step in or was it all handled by the teacher?

This guy has a PhD in Biology from Dartmouth, so he's very smart. But I think one of four things happened:

1) He knows so much about biology that he wrote the questions based on what HE knows instead of what the kids know about biology.
2) He was being a butthead and deliberately put questions on there that he knew they couldn't answer. And for what reason - I wouldn't even venture a guess.
3) He used an old test that covered more material than what THIS class actually covered and he neglected to read it, or
4) He's losing it, mentally.

I don't know how many parents complained or if the administration intervened., but one of the kids that was crying was one of our valedictorian candidates. She is a VERY smart girl who works very hard. If she's having trouble, there is a problem.

DS and I think that the teacher is "testing" the kids for their reactions right now and playing some mind games. Whatever. . . :confused3

Our administrators are pretty good about nipping dumb teacher moves in the bud. Like DS's World Geography teacher, who was (note past tense; this got nipped in the bud REAL quickly) spouting her political opinons about the war in Iraq and on global warming. That in and of itself wouldn't have been so bad but she told any of the kids who ventured an opposing opinion to "Shut up." Not cool. Just teach the subject, ma'am. They'll get those invigorating discussions in college, NOT in high school.

Plumbing, what plumbing??? Why do you think I like the hotels so much? :rolleyes1

DH says everything's great (which makes me wonder if my dog is still there... ).

That sounds like a strong indicator that there really is a problem here. I'm glad the admin is addressing it!

ITA!

Good morning, everyone.

Horseshowmom, it sounds like you might want to send someone out to check out if Chachi and Tigger are still okay. Never can tell what those husbands will do!

DS told me that the AP Biology teacher is of the mindset that the kids are "cramming" and thus, they're not fully understanding the material. I think that's a bogus complaint on his part, at least from how I saw MY kid studying. And, the entire class pointed out how no less than 4 essay questions covered some sort of biologicial process that they NEVER covered in class. His response? "I'm just preparing you for the AP exam." Well, buddy, the AP exam ain't until May. Maybe you should concentrate on learning the materials at hand.

My personal feeling is that this sends a message to the teacher - if only 2 kids out of your class got middle B's and the rest D's and F's, you are NOT doing your job! It's your personal failure; not that of your students. This is an AP class with bright students. It isn't as though it's filled with kids who can't learn the material or aren't motivated to do well. DS wants to be a Biology MAJOR in college, for heaven's sake!!!

Thanks for letting me vent; I feel much better now.

Back to work. Check in when you can!!!

Morning Girls! Surprise OSHA inspector just showed up:eek: we are fully compliant but it is a PITA....................

Sandy:

Sounds like the teacher handed out a test and had no idea what was on it then is trying to back peddle with the results.

Teacher needs to suck it up, admit there is a problem and correct it. Why is this concept so hard for people, we all make mistakes.

MY DS had several AP teachers give them a trial AP exam to see where they were at but they were warned ahead of time and the "grade" did not affect their class grade, it was purely informational.

Studying vs. cramming - who cares, what has that got to do with anything. That is a really lame excuse. IMO - Are they supposed to retain for immediate retrieval every single bit of knowledge they learn in High School?

Totally agree with you on the if the majority are failing then the teacher needs to evaluate themselves. However, I had a professor in one of my college accounting classes whose mindset was if 1 passes, then the rest of you are not getting it and it was not her it was us. She was a miserable teacher and we were all pretty much on our own except for the experienced bookkeeper in the class who had taken it to "refresh" and thus was the only A in the class and the excuse for her reasoning.:sad2:

Hope the makeup test goes better.

Horseshowmom:
You better make sure your DH has not been a frequent visitor to the animal shelter and the pet shops in search of a replacement Chachi. :lmao: I bet Tigger misses you!

Hope you are enjoying every minute of that inside plumbing!:lmao:

Today begins the week of insanity::scared1: :scared1:
DD's softball game after work where we will freeze but are in charge of snack so there will be no bailing out for us.

Friday is Homecoming and I open the snack bar for the 2 football games plus have to get DD and her Halloween costume to a friends for a costume party

Saturday DD has a softball game, then 10 girls comimg for a slumber party
Need to decorate, pick up food, pick up balloons & cake
DS has Homecoming Dance of which he and GF have decided to go casual (around here it is casual to formal, you see it all)

Sunday - Feed and then kick all the giggly girls out and prepare for the Varsity team dinner on Wednesday - clean up back yard & go to Costco for the team dinner supplies

Monday & Tuesday - Prepare 75 PB&J sandwiches for the football team for the next morning's weight lifting classes.

Tuesday - Wrap 65 potatoes in foil and get the crock pots set up for the next day. Order the 20 loaves of french bread and brown 20#'s of ground beef.

Wednesday - work 1/2 day(maybe!), pick up bread and last minute forgotten items. Rush home, prepare the french bread, fill the crock pots and set out the rest of the tater fixin's - at 5 p.m. 55 players and 5 or so coaches will arrive for dinner - point to the table and stand back or you might get trampled:lmao: The boys will clean up and take all the trash out before they leave. Clean up kitchen or leave it for DH who notice does not have much of a role here

Thursday - On our usual Friday night schedule due to Friday being a school holiday (Nevada Day) Open snack bar for the big "Valley Cup" Rivalry game, prepare for DS's last regular season football game, boo hoo:sad1: :sad1: it is Sr. Night, we have to go out onto the field and be announced with him - I am dreading this!

Friday morning - DS and I are on early morning flight to Portland, Oregon where we have a noon appointment at Oregon State Univ. Drive back to my Aunts, and have a really big drink! :drinking1 Visit with my Mother, take her on a field trip to the zoo or something along those lines. Come home Monday night............

Somewhere in all this DD wants to know when we are carving pumpkins and I need to pack for the weekend trip :faint: :faint:

Yikes - I need a nap...................
I do this to myself
I have no one to blame
I just keep reminding myself that come November, I will have too much time on my hands and will be bored!

You all have a great day!

My goodness, Melissa, I got tired just reading about what lies in store for you this week and next. :)

You are certainly one of those "It's better to wear out than rust out" girls, aren't you?!?! :lmao:

Oh, forgot to tell you, I went back to swimming lessons last night. It went much better than the first time. I am getting a lot better at putting my face in the water (my big deal). So I am actually really looking forward to next week's lesson. The girl that teaches me is a real sweetheart. She's a year younger than DD and a year older than DS and I really like her a lot. So I'll never be Olympic-caliber but if I can at least do a decent stroke and float in the deep end without panicking, hey, that's all I want!!!

Glad the OSHA inspection went well!! :thumbsup2

Horseshowmom, how is that room service going? :rotfl:
