Let the memories (of our May 2011 trip) begin! *UPDATED SEPT. 18th- LINK to NEW TR!*

Beatriz looks so cute in her rain coat! :lovestruc
San Angel Inn looks so nice... always very romantic. We are actually not going to return there this trip. We are trying La Hacienda since we've never eaten there. Hopefully, the food is good there also.

It's all about the food!!!

As promised, I looked up the recipe for Kouzzina's Cinnamon Stewed Chicken. I haven't made it yet, but the chicken is out thawing, so today or tomorrow.

I'll let you know how it came out. :)

Edit to add: I just realized that although you did have a wonderful meal at Kouzzina, it was not your trip report that described the Cinnamon Stewed Chicken. But I'm going to leave the link up anyway, because another poster raved about it and it sounds really good. I haven't made it at home yet.

Am glad you enjoyed your meal at San Angel Inn and the ambiance was amazing! :thumbsup2

Oh no on it raining again.

I love your last picture!!

My two year old could eat a Disney kids meal at home. But at WDW- no way. There is way too much excitement and heat and exhaustion to finish a meal. It would be great if they had something like some fast food places do, where they have big kid meals (the current size) and kid meals (a reasonable size)

I'm glad you enjoyed your meal. The ambiance it what attracts me there too.

Yummy update!!! Sounds like you had a great experience at San Angel.

San Angel was one of the first restaurants at EPCOT that Mark and I dined at. You are right, the atmosphere can't be beat!!!

Your plate looks super! So do the dessert and the churros!

So nice that Beatriz behaved for you, but that pout at the end... Priceless!

San Angel was a highlight. I know the menu has been modified many times and not everyone is a fan but we thoroughly enjoyed it. Beatriz behaving like a little princess did not hurt either. ;)

I have been subscribed, but just now finally read it all! Loving your report! Your daughter is adorable! :cutie: And your trials with the potty made me just make a plan with my DH on potty breaks...so THANK YOU! :thumbsup2

We are also eating at San Angel, and due to the mixed reviews, I'm a bit nervous about it....but like you, we booked it for the ambiance! I'm getting more excited about it now after your review. :goodvibes

Hi Brook! :welcome: It is very nice to see you here. I follow your adventures at your TR too even though I do not comment often. Can I say jealous of your TA job?? :lmao:

Make sure you enforce lots of potty breaks. I think part of the reason why she wanted to pee all the time is pure excitement and anticipation.

Don't be nervous about your San Angel meal. Even though the food is not the most exquisite you can find at Disney it is still VERY GOOD and you cannot beat the location.
;)

We want to try La Hacienda next time too. I have seen pictures of their food around here and it looks AMAZING. Are you guys going for the seat down? I was thinking about trying it as a CS next time...

I was wondering... :lmao:
How did it go??

Oh no on it raining again.

It was a whole afternoon of miserable, miserable weather....:guilty:

I love B's rain coat picture!

Thanks. I wish they had it on my size...;)

My daughter is petite for her age and even though she is great on variety at home she is not strong on quantity.

When she was 2 she did not have her dining plan and we were fine just sharing our meals with her or eating at buffets and making small plates for her. But this time we had no choice but to purchase her a plan and we ended up eating most of her food. :rolleyes1

Just a quick update to say we are curretly enjoying our yearly Summer vacation in Cape Cod, MA so no updates this week.

Enjoy!!!

Hope you have great weather for your trip and that you will have lots of pictures to share.

Sounds like you had a nice experience at San Angel! (: I think it would be totally cool eating there having walked inside the Mexico pavilion multiple times, with the stars overhead and the Gran Fiesta Tour floating by, very nice. The food looked great, the beef sirloin especially! I also could go for churros anytime. Like you, I LOVE them! And those look really good with the caramel and sugar, yum :goodvibes That was so sweet of the CMs to sing to you guys knowing about your anniversary, too cute :teeth:

Great picture of Beatriz out in the rain with her little raincoat, so cute with her pouty lip. Rain is NO fun in Disney :sad2:

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

Hope you have a great time, Q! (: I've been to Cape Cod many times since I live so close, so I was curious, where in Cape Cod? Chatham? Dennis? Yarmouth? There are many but I'm just naming off a few. All great places to stay at, being so close to the beach :goodvibes

We love it here. We rented a place in Yarmouth South this time. Any beaches you recommend?

I can't remember many beaches, but I know that some sharks were spotted in certain areas along Cape Cod. I hope that doesn't put a damper on things, but I think Yarmouth was far from those places :thumbsup2

Ooooh, Cape Cod is on my short-list. I hope you have a fantastic trip! :goodvibes

:beach:
Eight days, one road trip, one house, four adults, three children, one rainy day, seven sunny ones, one blackout, one visit to the Cape Cod mall, three different beaches, countless dips in the pool, one trip to the Cape Cod chip factory, one yummy meal at the Brazilian Grill, some fish & chips from Seafood Sam's, clam chowder from Captain Parker's, two visits to the Cape Cod Creamery, canolis from Carluccios, jerk chicken from the Jerk Cafe, one trip to the outlets, one visit to the house of the New England Patriots (go Pats go!), three trips to TJ Maxx and Job Lot, burritos from Chipotle, filling up on Brazilian groceries at Supermercado Gol, lots of laughs with great friends and even some tears (from the kids).

What a nice vacation! See you next year Cape Cod...

Welcome back!

Oh, I love your mini Cape Cod report!!!

I live about an hour and a half (maybe 2 in traffic) and my last trip to the Cape was when I was 6 or 7 years old. A lot of friends from my area go for a week or two, though.

I thought of you as our newscasters kept talking about shark sitings on the Cape while you were there. Hope it didn't disrupt your trip at all. Did you see any fins???

Also *jealous* of your trip to Foxboro/Patriots place! We need to do that sometime soon.

I forgot to mention that on our way back home yesterday we stopped to do some shopping at a Disney Store in New Hampshire.

Since we have no Disney Stores in Quebec and paying the shipping to Canada makes shopping at the Disney website not worth it we embraced the opportunity with opened arms.

Here is what we got:

For Beatriz:
4981044350894

104830M

For myself:
105163M

400002548423

Joey got himself yet another Animal t-shirt but I did not find a picture of it on the website.

Next up:
Back to our May TR: Are we still at Epcot??

You are right. The rain can totally spoil a day at Disney (specially at World Showcase) but we tried to make the best of it and ended up with great memories of the hours spent in the Mexican pavillon.

And those churros tasted as good as they looked.

Have a great Summer vacation!! :cool1:

Thank you. :) Your trip is so close now. I am getting very excited for you.

Ooooh, Cape Cod is on my short-list. I hope you have a fantastic trip! :goodvibes

Thank you very much. We had a wonderful time. I recommend Cape Cod to anyone, specially family. It is an Americana sort of Summer at its best. :thumbsup2

Welcome back!

WE  CAPE COD.

As I said before it is Americana at its best and if you love the Beach Club it is truly a sin you haven't been there in so many years. This was our third time in three years and we will certainly be coming back. Montreal is around 600 Km away and just to be able to sit by the ocean and smell the sea is worth the trip for me.

No shark sightings for us. We tried to stick to beaches on the bay side because we were told most of the sharks were seen on the Atlantic side but I do not know how truthful that is. It did not stop me from bathing in the water and people around us did not seem to mind it either. :confused3

And let's not forget the clam chowder. The best one I have ever had... by far! My apologies to Cape May cafe. ;)

We visited Foxboro the same day we went to the outlets in Wrentham (where I got myself a coveted pair of Ugg boots by the way ;) ). Too bad we got there a little too late because apparently the players were out practicing that afternoon. If your family loves football I recommend. They have lots of restaurants nearby and a nice giftshop. As a Patriots fan, I loved it.

Day 3- May,14th 2011- Last hours at Epcot.

So after our meal at San Angel Inn we were not very sure of what we wanted to do. The original plan was to go back to the hotel after super but I wanted to stay at the park a little longer since it did not seem like we had accomplished much due to the rain.
So we head out and the rain had stopped and the skies were finally clearing so we decide to go back to the Future World:

I wanted to go see Captain EO but on our way over there we got distracted by this:

Last year our visit to the characters was not very successful with Beatriz nearly freaking out of fear but she actually asked to go meet them when she saw them through the window this time.

The wait time was only 15 minutes and then it was the moment of truth:

So we still had about 20 minutes before park closing time and we wanted to squeeze in a ride. We ran to Test Track and measured Beatriz but unfortunately she was still too small. :( We asked the CM if there was enough time for both of us to ride using the swap pass but the answer was no. So for the second time in two years I forfeited my right to ride Test Track in favor of my husband. Now, if that is not love ...

While Joey was in the ride Beatriz and I explored the exit area of Test Track. She had lots of fun going in and out the big cars and exploring the interactive games. It is amazing how many things we overlook when we are just rushing from one ride to the next.

So by the time Joey came out Illuminations was about to start and for a minute we considered running to grab a viewing spot but ultimately decided against it. We preferred to leave right away and beat the crowds out of the park.

But not before a last picture with a topiary!

Beatriz fell asleep in the bus on our way to the hotel and that gave us the chance to explore the gift shop at Pop Century for the first time.

We usually just look around during the week and leave the real shopping for the last day. This time I had the mission of buying gifts for my BFF's baby shower. She is a Disney freak just like me and I knew I wanted to bring her gifts from WDW. It was lots of fun.

Back in our room we were tempted to leave Beatriz spend the night like this:
