Let the Memories Begin--A Mother/Son Adventure of a Lifetime!-update 8/6-17 the end!

Thanks for the info on the camera. I will have to check that out. I need something that runs on its own so the auto setting would work great for me!!! I am not a good picture taker at all.

We might try staying late this time at the parks. I am sure the crowds will be high due to Easter week so we may take in some more EMH.

Can't wait to hear all about DL. Even if you don't do a trip, I will have to at least get some pictures. I bet your children are super excited about flying.

I've been thinking about a trip report...so if I can remember to take notes along the way I might! :rotfl: actually DS(10) is saying he is not going because he doesn't want to fly! :confused3. Told him it takes 3 hrs vs 23 hrs!

Hope you guys were as blessed as we were with the weather not getting as bad as expected. So far, I have not read of anybody in DIStown having any damage.

Hi Erika - Hope you are doing OK with all the storm!

I second that. Hope you are OK.

Hope you guys were as blessed as we were with the weather not getting as bad as expected. So far, I have not read of anybody in DIStown having any damage.

Thank you for the well wishes! We did come out okay and very lucky! There was a tornado touched down in the county next to ours and took out 70% of the town. The town is called, Moscow, Ohio on the river. You should google it and look at the devestation there. We have camped there before with the scouts at the dam near the town. When the storm came into our county, it did some damage and a few homes were destroyed but was relatively calm when it got to us. It then touched down 3 small tornadoes in the other neighboring county which is where I work. People lost homes and in some spots, we never did find the electric line that was there.

In my home state of Kentucky, there was a lot of damage. My dad's wife is from West Liberty, Kentucky. Her aunt owned a flower shop there and it is totally gone. Complete devestation! Google it as well.

I worked all weekend at the electric company. As of Sunday night, all of our customers had power restored. It was a long, exhausting weekend but at the end of every day, I was thankful that I came home to a home, it was warm with power, and my family was there. These type of things really put life in perspective.

I have pictures loaded and hope to have an update this afternoon. I also had some Disney luck and changed my last 3 nights from OKW. It didn't come through on my waitlist but through DVC reservation checking. I will keep you wandering about that until this afternoon......................................

When I last left you, Jeremy and I had spent a Magical time at MVMCP and stayed out until 1:00 in the morning. The next day was Saturday, November 19th and it was supposed to be our Epcot day.

Now after a late night before, I had decided we would sleep in. However, we were on vacation and Jeremy and I were both in the "go, go, let's have fun" mode so we were up by 8, possibly even 7:30 if my memory serves me right.

I got up and was getting ready when Jeremy woke. He spotted these hot air ballons out the balcony window. You can't even see them in the picture as they were in the distance but it was very pretty and what a lovely day it was starting to be.

We ate breakfast and was soon on the Boardwalk heading to Epcot.

100_0590.jpg

This was our first time going through the International Gateway and I will have to admit I was too excited to even take pictures. We loved the Gateway. It is a hidden gem to Epcot in my opinion. We were just a few minutes after rope drop. In all our excitement, I did get one picture before we headed to get fastpasses for Soarin.

100_0591.jpg

With fastpasses in hand, Jeremy was not in the mood for Test Track this trip but wanted to ride to Livin With the Land. There was no one, and I mean no one, in line. We were on the ride completely by ourselves. It was sort of creepy but fun also.

100_0592.jpg

I did something I had never done before and took pictures during the ride. So, I present to you....Livin With the Land.

After our solo adventure through the land, we headed to The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

100_0626.jpg

After the ride, Jeremy was ready to head to one of his favorite rides at Epcot...Spaceship Earth.

100_0630.jpg

On the way, I spotted these cuties! I loved these Christmas trees.

100_0631.jpg

The line was short and we were soon going up in earth.

Up Next:

What happened on Spaceship Earth that really "honked off" Jeremy?
Will we survive the entire day at Epcot?
What does Jeremy find at Epcot that becomes his new favorite thing to do at Disney?

Plus....where did we switch our last 3 nights of spring break? Here is a hint....I hope Tom doesn't snore in the other lobby at this resort! :rotfl2:

Oh, and we are at the 30 day mark!!! Let's end with some dancing! :dance3::dance3::banana::dancer:

Snoring in the lobby? I sense a story I missed somehow.

I've still never seen The Land, one of these days I swear!

Very glad you guys made it through ok, just heard from my exMIL confirming the same, she's in Evansville so not far from some nasty stuff as well.

I'm not sure either about the snoring in the lobby? But I am excited to see where you switched to. I love hearing about other's resort switches!

Great update. Love the picture of Jeremy on the balcony and I love the view you had. It's lovely!

I had such a blast going in the IG for rope drop. It was so cool.

Love your pictures on LWTL. They look almost identical to the ones I am going to post in one of my next updates (well, except for the pumpkins :rotfl:)

I have a canon dslr. I think both canon and Nikon make good cameras - both dslr and others.

ps - excited that you updated and glad you were not affected by the recent storms! :thumbsup2

Glad she was okay. Parts of Indiania got hit very hard.

I can remember riding Living with the Land when I was kid going to Disney with my mom and dad. I know that at the time I thought it was a strange ride to have in an amusement park but pretty neat. You should ride it. I have heard it is neat at night as well. I am thinking about doing the behind the seeds tour the last day we are at Boardwalk before we change resorts. Tom and I want to go to the DVC meeting at Atlantic Dance Hall that afternoon before we head to the other resort and thought that would be a fun thing to do while we were still close to Epcot.

The snoring story was at the very beginning of my last trip report! You should go back and read it. I could have died................................

The snoring story is at the very beginning of my last trip. Check it out. It is pretty funny what DH did.

I too had a blast with the IG. I can't wait to show Tom all about it.

I was sort of shocked to see the pumpkins in LWTL since it was Christmas throughout the park, but it was Thanksgiving week.

Thanks for the info on the camera. I am going to the city this weekend so I think I will stop and look. I do much better picking those things out when Tom is not with me.

ps - excited that you updated and glad you were not affected by the recent storms! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I am committed to get this report done. I am at the 29 day mark so I would like to have this one complete and a little pre-trip report before we leave.

When Michael and I were on our anniversary trip in February, Living with the Land is the first ride we went on - and I am pretty sure we were the first riders of the day. No one else in our boat - none in any boat in sight. We shoulda made out :rotfl2:

My girls love that ride too - and we are going to do the Behind the Seeds tour in April - they have been asking to do it for a while. I am hoping that I get an annual pass discount!

Ohh Snoring in the lobby- the pther lobby- Kidani???

Congrats.

On a Disney high- in bed at 1 am and then up againby 7:30 or 8. Way to Go. :cheer2:

Great updates Erika!!! :thumbsup2

I was a little behind, but I'm all caught up now!

YES you should definitely do the Behind the Seeds Tour!!! Yes yes yes! I loved it & so did my DH! Luke was really interested too which I thought was fairly impressive for a 3 year old! Although he does plant a garden every year with us, so that probably made him more interested in it! It honestly was the BEST $$$ ever spent at Disney (so far anyway!) -- such an inexpensive tour & seriously worth every penny! (Did you read my TR about the tour? If not, I have a Table of Contents on the first page of my TR, you should check it out!!!)

About the camera. I have a Canon Rebel Xsi and I know a few other DISers have the same one, including Brook (brookelizabeth) and Michelle (SoonerGirl). I know you follow both of their reports & mine if you want to see what type of pics the camera takes! Up until this point, I've only used the Automatic settings. I hope to possibly use some manual settings next trip, but for now, I'm sticking with Auto!

I am loving your MVMCP updates!!! I swear I could watch that parade over and over again on YouTube five thousand times a night and never get sick of it. I have to figure out a way to video it, take pictures, and watch the looks on my kids faces during the parade! LOL! Probably impossible, but I'll try!

Don't you just love the International Gateway??? We were soooo spoiled by staying at the Beach Club in September! I think we walked over to Epcot almost every evening just to get dessert and watch Illuminations. I will really miss it on future trips!

I can't wait to read about where you're staying! I'm going back now to find that story about snoring! :lmao:

I was pretty proud of myself. I never take ride pictures and those turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. :)

I used to always leave with a new determination to start a good garden of my own. After a few failed attempts at that (and a few non-attempts) I have quit all of my garden dreaming. Now I just leave knowing that Living with the Land will be there for me to enjoy, and my produce will continue to come from a grocery store. :upsidedow

We have talked about this for several years. Since Jill is pregnant and will not be able to ride thrill rides this summer, this may be the time to do it. I am excited about the thought of this. ::yes::

Hm snoring in the lobby?? I must have missed that one!

Love the Living with the Land pics.:thumbsup2 We like to do that every year.

Love those little Christmas trees.:goodvibes

:yay::dance3::yay: for 30 days!!!!:woohoo:

I love the Christmas party! It is so much fun.

The IG is a true gem in my opinion. We went to Epcot a lot of nights and did just the same thing you did.

Right now, we are going to do the Behind the Seeds tour. I may not book it until we get there in case something changes. I think it will be something fun to do while we spend time waiting for the DVC meeting before switching resorts. I did read it on your report.

I saw you updated on your report so I need to head over there. Hope the new baby is doing well!

We used to raise a garden at our old house every summer. Tom would complain about having to till it and plant it but then I would take over. He never complained once there was fresh veggies on the table. :thumbsup2

I think the tour would be a great idea for you guys. I bet Brooklyn and Bella would love it!

Hm snoring in the lobby?? I must have missed that one!

Love the Living with the Land pics.:thumbsup2 We like to do that every year.

:yay::dance3::yay: for 30 days!!!!:woohoo:

Those trees were adorable. I would have loved one of those at home.

We love living with the land. My favorite part is the greenhouses.
