Let’s see your tree!

Which tree do you wanna see?

Trees owned: no one really knows but probably about 40
Trees up and decorated: 12.5 (the 12 foot tree is not done yet)
2023 goal: between 25-30

But, before you judge, the news said this morning that the white house has 93 trees and I am only going to have a third of that so I'm not crazy.
No judging - just fascinated.popcorn:: Where do you put them all? What kind of trees are we talking about? I put up one (your basic green 7-footer), in the living room. I suppose if I was inclined, I could do table-top ones in the bathrooms and foyer, and maybe small ones in the bedrooms and one on the terrace. That would max me out at 7 and really be over the top for our space.

I keep saying I am going to snap some pictures but have had to work late all week. I have slowly transitioned to mostly slim/pencil trees with some exceptions. All of the trees in my tree count are at east 5.5 feel. Anything smaller, I count as décor, not a tree. So, I will not count the two 3 foot trees in the garage windows this year of the 2 foot fibre optic tree in the downstairs full bath.

I have a normal shaped (not pencil) 5.5 foot tree in the powder room downstairs because it is a weird shaped bathroom with dead space that is the width of the tree. My two Disney themed trees are very wide 7.5 foot trees (one is the fab five and the other is any other characters) They are both in my family room.

The family room also hosts the pencil tree dedicated to all of the Disney festivals, decorated with ornaments and the little passports.

I have three themed trees in the eat in kitchen, three in the dining room and two on the front porch.

The 12 foot tree in the foyer is still only half done. I am almost halfway done putting up trees.

I used to have a tree in every front facing window but have stated putting some of them to the side in some rooms. I have had two different people tell me that I am on their annual Christmas light tour and they try to count my trees through the windows :D

Our house is about 4700 square feet and I have three porches that I put trees on - so four are actually outside.

:scratchin Lemme see this "three in the kitchen and three in the dining room". I simply cannot imagine it...your spaces must be vast. :goodvibes May I also ask where you find the time? :faint:

I am extremely organized when it comes to my trees. Ornaments are stored in a sperate box for each themed tree. I have converted most of my trees to pre-lit, which saves me a lot of time. If a tree needs lights, they are stored in the m box with the ornaments for that tree. And I can refer to my spreadsheet if I can't remember something. Can I remind everyone that the White House has 98 trees up :-)

Give us pictures!!! :p

I have 16 trees in a house a bit larger than yours and as I was reading your post I was struggling to imagine how you could fit your stated goal of 25-30 trees. Then I realized I have a lot of space taken up by aquariums and houseplants. Without those, I estimate I could probably fit another 20 without it looking ridiculous. Nor do I have any porch space like you do. Bottom line, you’ve got plenty of room, go for it!

I also use a lot of pencil trees and, as I told @ronandannette when she asked me the same questions, I cover the trees with large plastic bags and store them all fully assembled in closets and the garage. Then I can just roll them into place. Now, that’s a game changer you should look into doing for yourself! ::yes::

Sister!!! I have struggled sometimes with tree placement due to adding furniture. For example, the downstairs bedroom used to have a tree in front of each of the two windows but I bought a large bedside table and not that is in front of the window so i might only put one tree in that room.

Plants ar another struggle. DH is in charge of houseplants and he does like his plants. So, I have to relocate them to make room for trees.

I wish I had the closet space to store my trees like you do. My house is very low on extra closet space. I do have on ginormous tree that is too heavy in the box to take into the attic so it is stored in the box in a hall closet but not much else fits in that closet with the tree in there. DH would never let me store them in the garage.
Do you store the trees with the decorations on them also? Disney does that. They cling wrap the tree with the decorations on and store them like you do.

Yep, the hooks are clamped/wrapped around the branches so the ornaments don’t fall off while being moved. One thing I need to go back and fix is to wire the sections of trunk together so they don’t come apart if you try to lift the tree. I didn’t think to do that the first year we started storing them fully assembled so we have to be careful if picking them up to put on the roller or to go over a step. It’s not a big issue but immobilizing the sections should make it even easier.

I only keep a few of the fuller trees in the garage along with the box for the big family tree — that’s the only one we have to assemble every year, which is by necessity because of its size and because the ornaments are always changing. All together, they only take up part of one wall when lined up and smooshed together. They’re really not taking up too much more space than they would if they were in boxes with ornaments/lights being stored in separate boxes. I keep everything with pricier or sentimental ornaments inside because I worry about temperature and humidity damage in the garage.

Tell your husband you’ll give him more room for plants if he gives you some garage space. ;) With my plants, I hang them as much as I can and I’ve widened my sills to keep the floor space as clear as possible.

I prefer to store the trees on the same level of the house I display them, but if I couldn’t do that I’d start thinking about ways to lift them into the attic fully decorated. I wouldn’t be able to keep up with the decorating otherwise!

This is the tree in our family room. It has mostly ornaments we’ve collected from vacations, special ornaments for our boys, and some ornaments that have been passed down from parents and grandparents. We also have a tree in our finished basement, but it currently only has lights on it. We put all the ornaments our boys have made over the years on that tree, we just haven’t decorated it yet.
