I will definitely miss the option of more than one transfer per year (which I personally took advantage of this year for my family gathering) but the enforcement of policy (Vacation Point-transfer transactions to one transfer per Member or Membership, either as transferee or transferor, during a given Use Year) will happen when people abuse the system on a regular basis.
Im assuming the occasional renter can overcome the new enforced DVC rule by doing the following:
(1) For those who rent when they are short of points - Pay for a reservation instead of transferring points from another owner and bank remaining points so you dont lose them. Youll have less control over your reservation and you might have to change rooms but youll still have the ability to extend your stay, obtain additional and/or larger accommodations.
(2) For those who rent occasionally for non-DVC vacations Depending on the number of points you need to rent, limit the number of renters to a handful which might mean targeting renters looking for longer stays if you have a lot of points so youre not targeted by DVC for a pattern of rental activity for profit
(3) For those that have leftover points You have a choice based on the number of points and your plans for the following year. Do you want to rent all you can in a one-time transfer per year or do you want to bank your points for the following year? What if you dont have any DVC plans for the following year then another option would be to make a small point rental reservation using banked and borrowed points (for example, look for renter looking for a small number of total points and make a 2007 rental reservation with 2006 banked pts and 2007 borrow pts)
Any thoughts or other suggestions?
