I wanted to go to HH this coming weekend -- last weekend of September -- Sat thru Wed. But was afraid to borrow 2004 points because I have an October use year.

Looks like that was a wise decision. Even if I cancelled and DVC "restored" the points to this year they would expire the next day anyway.

That's the only positive thing in my life for the past month. So now I'm schedule for HHI on October 9th. Let's pray that Karl or Lenny or Squiggy or whatever hurricane is violating the Atlantic by then stays away.:earsboy:

If I read some of the reports correctly, when DVC was being so accommodating following the recent hurricanes, they were also letting people bank outside of the normal guidelines. If so, one would assume that the same priviledge would be extended to those who might need to "un-borrow" points.

Let us know how things work out.

Good example of having to really "think" about use year. I ran into something similar when I booked my March trip for next year, using April 2005 use year points. A light bulb went off one day and I thought---hmm...I better swap those borrowed points to the October 2004 trip and use current use year for the March trip. Still run the risk of losing points, but if something were to come up before end of December I could cancel and then still bank........my poor DH has no clue all the brain power it takes me to manage the points, use years, and different resorts!!

DVC did let points become "unborrowed" as a result of the hurricanes. I was surprised but they were restoring points to the original use year.

Yeah, I worry around the end of the UY too. Ours is February, so that MLK weekend trip to VB keeps to current year or old banked points, none borrowed (you never know when a snowstorm is gonna sock us in) - well, this year I actually rented the points from another member, who has a more accommodating UY for January stays. And now that I have a proven trustworthy trading partner with an opposite UY to mine, perhaps we'll trade ressies at each others' home resorts.
