Lesson Learned - T-Shirt Ruined!

So I read all of the rave reviews for transfer paper from AmyMickey but being generally impatient, decided surely the stuff from the local store would work as it was just one white shirt for now. Spent two days working on design and lettering for gift for my brother-in-law. Washed shirt first, ironed out wrinkles from shirt and pillowcase, set iron on cotton/no steam, and got up the courage to iron on the transfer. Now that it is done and cool, I find I can't peel all of the backing off - it's stuck to the shirt - and the colors are terrible. I think in the end, it would cost me less to just pay someone to do shirts for me. (Big Frog is just down the street.) If I get up the nerve to try it again, I'll be ordering my transfer paper!

Sorry about your troubles....that's why everyone recommends amy M_I_C_K_E_Y's transfers-- they work wonderfully and are worth every penny. Give it another try with amy's and you'll be hooked on them. I have tshirts from 2 1/2 years ago that still look like new using her transfers.

I decided to make t-shirts last minute and won't have time to order from her...I've used the transfers from staples before, but was thinking of getting them at Michaels. Which ones did you use? I have yet to pre-wash the tops...will do that today.

IDK how much time you have, but once, I did email Amy and ask her to priority ship them to me. I just paid the extra cost. It was worth it to me because my kids wear these shirts over and over.

I ordered from Amy before my last trip and the next morning had an email saying that they were being shipped. I was very happy with the quality and how quickly they were received.

The shirts I made the kids have been washed multiple times and you cannot tell at all.

The ones I used that I had horrible experience with were Printworks. I can't recall if they were from AC Moore or Joann's or Michael's as I was in all three places.

I have made a number of birthday shirts for my son with iron-on but it makes the shirt "hard" and stiff...Really want to make shirts for our trip but not if they are like that. So are you saying Amy's are different?

I finally got up the courage to do some shirts last night and used Amy's transfers. They look great!

Amy does non-Disney designs and you can find her on this board but on her site, she sells transfer paper. Just look for AmyMickey.

Hey thanks guys, so I think I get it now....

Amy's transfer papers are the best, just get them and print your design on the transfer papers and then iron away !!
