Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

The Wilderness Lodge is awesome, isn't it, Yuki? We stayed there once in one of the side buildings and while it was beautiful, it was a HIKE to our room! :thumbsup2
Next time we sure will ask for a room in the "bearface", like Joe and Mary Ellen had last time - really convenient. (Sorry, got sidetracked)

Sorry you didn't like WCC. We have never eaten there, but then we don't do restaurants where they "play games". Sorry the food was sub par, but nice of the server to pack it all up for you!

Can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

After reading for the past few hours I'm all caught up! I'm in for the rest. :)

Oh, Florida downpours....Raining so hard you can't see one minute and then perfectly clear the next. Make up your mind, Mother Nature!

I love the Wilderness Lodge. Not as much as I love the Poly, but it's pretty close. We've stayed there twice, but every single time I enter the lobby, my jaw still drops. It's just so majestic and rustic. It makes me want to put on a plaid shirt and cook baked beans over a fire or something.

WCC cornbread is the best. We haven't been back there in a few years (we were supposed to go this year but plans changed), but the last time we went, I'm pretty sure I ate an entire basket of cornbread by myself. So good.

I'm sorry you didn't find the skillet BLOW YOUR MIND AMAZING. Come to think of it, I never really found it to be that either. I mean, it was good and, as I said before, I could survive off the cornbread, but it wasn't really anywhere near the greatest thing I've ever eaten.

Can't wait to hear more about your relaxing day! :thumbsup2

I know, Mother Nature is so fickle! At least there's always sunshine after it rains. That sounds like a song...

Haha, I totally feel the same about WL!! It's definitely my kind of camping. Disney style.

Yeah, that cornbread is just...............the BEST. I really want some right now.

Yeah, I was expecting the Skillet to be SO GOOD, but it was only ok. It wasn't bad, but nothing spectacular. It was good enough.

Wooow, a hike to the front EVERY DAY. What great exercise right? Bearface? I guess that's the main building? I wonder if all rooms in that building is considered a preferred room...

Oh, I liked WCC, but the food wasn't as great as I had hoped. Maybe I built it up too much? I loved the atmosphere though! It was very nice of the server. And I loved my Mickey stickers!

After reading for the past few hours I'm all caught up! I'm in for the rest. :)

It took you a few hours???? Wow...I sure talk a lot. Great to have you here Shannon!

Real Life Update

I'm sorry for not being around as often as I used to or updating more than I should!

I promise I'll have an update up tomorrow for sures.

Things have been pretty busy around here. I attended an intense 2 week seminar on family violence at school and now have 3 papers to look forward to writing....I also have another paper and an exam to work on for another course of mine.

The good news is, I'll be done by August 15th and that will be it for my undergrad! I'm finally graduating at last. Just need to get through this hump of essays. My gosh, I hate essays....

On another happy note, Andrew and I are headed to the BIG APPLE at the end of August!!! I've been wanting to return there for a visit for.....a handful of years now and I'm really excited about it. I hope to meet up with some New York DISers *coughLia,Rachel,Su-Lynn,Christinacough* I only have 4 short days in the city, but let's make it work!

Right after my NYC trip, I'll be flying to Salt Lake City to attend a company conference with my mom! My dad couldn't make it, so she's taking me instead. I'm really looking forward to spending some quality time with her.

I'll have to start on those papers soon so I can't promise I'll be able to finish my TR before the anniversary of my trip....Hope you guys will still stick around! :grouphug:

No worries, you know I will be sticking around!

Congrats on being almost done! I still have three more years until I am done my second go-around of undergrad. :headache: I am jealous! At least I will have two degrees to my name and a very diverse and broad education! :thumbsup2

Your trips sound like fun! I haven't been to NYC in 12 years I think? I would love to go back someday. Take lots of pictures!

No problemo, take your time!

:woohoo::cheer2::banana::dancer:party::mickeyjum For Yuki graduating soon! Congrats!

When in August are you gonna be in New York?! We're gonna be there August 14th to the 16th for collage tours and the city!!!

Karin, Jim and I ate there out on the "outer deck" which jets out into the quiet lobby and there were no games out there. It was actually very quiet. Jim sort of let the hostess know he was not up for craziness, and she picked up on the cue - he was really happy with our seating:thumbsup2 I'm sure you could ask to be seated out there - they seem to use it for people with no ADRs - we met a nice family of 7 who were seated out there with no ressies. It was our favorite meal of the trip that year - Just down home meat and potatoes and gravy, but done really well!

Yeah, two degrees to your name sounds pretty good! I'm pretty sure this won't be the end of my schooling, just the end of my first, haha.

Oh yeah, I'll take TONS OF PICTURES. It'll be another mini-TR!

No problemo, take your time!

Awww, thanks Kelly! How was your trip? Are you writing a TR?

I'll be there 21st-24th....so we won't be able to see each other. It would've been really cool to meet up though!

Chapter 22. Day 5 pt.2-Chilling at the Contemporary

It didn't take long for the boat to arrive so we both got on with this one other large family. I would say they had 3 generations. I love seeing all 3 generations enjoying a family vacation like that.

When I have kids, I know I would LOVE to bring my parents along on my trips. My mom has only been to DisneyWorld once, but it was a SUPER long time ago. Like....back when I was.....7 I think? She brought my grandmother there and me and my siblings thought it was SO UNFAIR. They also visited Universal Studios and she LOVED the rides there. My mom is also a thrill-junkie. I guess that's where I get it from.

Yeah...my mommy is pretty hardcore....Anyways, moving on!

As soon as we were settled and the boat started moving, I turned on my vidcam and Andrew and I both said, "We're on a boat!" Yes....I'm really strange like that, but I couldn't help it! It's a very funny song.

I loved the boat ride over. I mean, I just like boat rides in general. Being on the water or near the water. It's so calming and there's always a nice breeze. I would love to live near the waterfront, but those places are always the most expensive. Well, at least I'm close enough to the lake.

Oh yeah, my TR. So, after we get off the boat, we are greeted with this view.
DSC00584.jpg

It's soooo cool!!! So big too!

You know what's even cooler? This.
DSC00585.jpg

I'm not even DVC but I've been excited for Bay Lake Towers since they announced it. It just looks very cool and the loft design is cool and the water play area looks like so much fun!

Here, I think I'm trying to fix my bag or something....
DSC00586.jpg

Haha, Andrew and his Asian "v".
DSC00587.jpg

And then he takes this one.
DSC00588.jpg

Yeah, Contemperorary is very cool looking. I don't want to stay there though. Aside from BLT.
DSC00589.jpg

Sorceror Mickey!
DSC00590.jpg

This one was Andrew's idea.
DSC00591.jpg

Surprisingly, we didn't take a picture with the steel Mickey structure, but I DID point out to Andrew that most people take pictures with it.

Andrew wants to eat here, only because he thinks it looks really cool.
DSC00593.jpg

Ok....This chapter should be turned into a drinking game for everytime you read "cool".

So, while I was in the ladies room, freshening up, Andrew took this photo of himself.
DSC00596.jpg

"Hey ladies ;)"

I'm not even kidding, that's what he wanted me to caption it with.

It had been a while since I had taken any notes for the TR, so we sat down in front of the cartoons. We thought the little boys in front of us were so cute. They were so into the cartoons!
DSC00598.jpg

We really enjoyed just sitting there, watching those old cartoons. I would love to get my hands on them, but can't find them anywhere. Disney really needs to put out a Blu ray of the classics. They would sell like hotcakes.

Andrew made the comment that these cartoons were really timeless. I mean, they rarely said anything, but they were always funny. It was the way the story was told that will always make it enjoyable to watch. We're both really into animations. Which is why we enjoy Epic Mickey so much! Our favourite part of the game is unlocking old shorts.

I guess this is one of the walls...
DSC00601.jpg

After resting for a bit, we walked about the first floor and checked out the arcade. I played some skeeball because I'm very good at it. Pop definitely had a better arcade.

We looked around the gift store. It's very pretty! And I like its open concept. They were selling a copy of the D23 magazine and I was REALLY tempted to get it, but was afraid it would be crushed in my luggage. Andrew saw me looking at the Mickey shaped cooking stuff, so he bought me a Mickey hand spatula! I love it a lot :lovestruc My favourite thing to make with it is Mickey pancakes. Wow...that was pretty bad grammar there...

At that point, I suggested going to the Poly or the Grand Floridian, but Andrew just wanted to go back to Pop (who says Pop is only good for sleeping???). Since we were there, we hopped onto the monorail to MK to board a bus for Pop.
DSC00603.jpg

DSC00604.jpg

I tried to get a photo of that wall mural next to the gift shop, but it was WAAAY too tall. It was really pretty though. I bet there are hidden mickeys in there.

We took some shots of our ride there, but mostly, we just enjoyed the view.

DSC00606.jpg

When we got back to our room, look what our mousekeeper did for us!
DSC00612.jpg

We left it up for the rest of our trip. I had wanted to decorate the window, but I thought this was MUCH better.

Coming up next: Night at DownTown

Oh my gosh, that was fast!

Yes, me too!! It was so unexpected. They also pinned up our buttons on the curtains on other days too.

Love the way mousekeeping decorated your window! Makes me want to bring my Stitch plus toy just for that.

Haha, yeah!

Makes me want to bring more plushies...Maybe it'll curb my want to buy even MORE plushies I have no space for at home anymore.

CONGRATS ON ALMOST BEING DONE WITH UNDERGRAD! Technically, I should be a year away from graduation, but because of my "mid-college crisis" it's now two years away. As far as I'm concerned, graduation cannot come soon enough.

Aw, I definitely hope you guys get to have a little NY DIS meet up. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun. Someone better have a drink for me or something! :upsidedow

Yelling out "I'm on a boat, [Word that's not exactly Disney appropriate]" while aboard any form of watercraft is perfectly acceptable, dear. Just censor yourself in front of children. ;) Basically, everything the Lonely Island guys ever do is perfection, so don't feel weird about singing their songs. Ever. On our last trip, anytime I saw anything remotely related to Pirates of the Caribbean (and even on the ride itself) I burst out into their song "Jack Sparrow" with Michael Bolton. THIS IS THE TALE OF CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW...

I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary in one of the rooms that overlooks MK. Waking up every morning to that view would be AMAZING. Of course, those rooms cost like a bajillion dollars and I am far from a bajillionaire.

Your Mousekeeper rocks!! :thumbsup2

Were you on a boat with your swim trunks...........and your flippie floppies? :rotfl:

Totally awesome what mousekeeping did to the window. Totally cute.

I did get to stay at BLT and I do have to say I like it a lot better then the normal Contemporary. It may also be because it is so new.

I don't think I've ever taken a boat to the Contemporary. Very cool. I LOVE what mousekeeping did. That's amazing!

Awww, thanks Kelly! How was your trip? Are you writing a TR?

I'll be there 21st-24th....so we won't be able to see each other. It would've been really cool to meet up though!
Our trip was great, probably our best yet!!! The dance part was not so fun, but everything else was perfect. Considering I was never able to catch up on my old one, I don't think I'm gonna do a whole TR, but I've been thinking of doing more of a... short trip summery :lmao: We're trying to convince our mom to go again next year, but we're not sure if it's gonna work out. Fingers crossed for OKW next year!

You'll deffinetly have to take a lot of pictures of NYC! I can't wait to see them!

Anyway, now that I've hijacked your TR, I'll comment on the important stuff :lmao:

As soon as we were settled and the boat started moving, I turned on my vidcam and Andrew and I both said, "We're on a boat!" Yes....I'm really strange like that, but I couldn't help it! It's a very funny song.
:rotfl2: Love it

Totally feel the same! Right near where I live there's "Ocean Drive" that has all these HUGE, gorgeous houses right on the water. we've always said we'll build our dreamhome there when we win the lottery!!!

Yeah, Contemperorary is very cool looking. I don't want to stay there though. Aside from BLT.
We've always agreed. Very beautiful and a fun hotel to visit, but the decor is just kinda not our style. Though the MK views are amazing!

Andrew wants to eat here, only because he thinks it looks really cool.
DSC00593.jpg
 The Wave! delicious! I'd recommend it when you go again

We really enjoyed just sitting there, watching those old cartoons. I would love to get my hands on them, but can't find them anywhere. Disney really needs to put out a Blu ray of the classics. They would sell like hotcakes.
I always spend so much time at the hotel watching those cartoons! They're just so awesome! And I know I for one would buy a DVD of them all in a heartbeat.

Which is why we enjoy Epic Mickey so much! Our favourite part of the game is unlocking old shorts.
:rotfl2:I've been avoiding Epic Mickey for months! I got stuck on the first robot pirate in the jungle, and can't get passed it! I could move on if I really wanted, but I don't have the heart to not fix robot Daisy.

When we got back to our room, look what our mousekeeper did for us!
DSC00612.jpg
How cool! Mousekeepers are truly the best!

Coming up next: Night at DownTown
Can't wait! My favorite place to visit in WDW at night!

:yay: an update! and :yay: I actually get to comment at this time of night - i guess IT takes Sunday off!

I've never thought about taking the boat over and exploring Contemporary - looks like a fun way to pass the time! I love water, too - are you a Cancer?
I don't keep track of astrology stuff, but sometimes the personalities fit.

Looks like Andrew was a little bored :rotfl2:

So back to Pop for the Good games, huh?

Yuki I love the Stitch window !! I have eaten at the Wave twice , once was with Jordan, Blue eyed girl and Winkers , the food was very good !!

CONGRATS ON ALMOST BEING DONE WITH UNDERGRAD! Technically, I should be a year away from graduation, but because of my "mid-college crisis" it's now two years away. As far as I'm concerned, graduation cannot come soon enough.

Thanks for the congrats!! It's been 4 long years....Well, ALMOST 4 years, but that's 3.66 years of NON-STOP schooling with NO summer vacation breaks longer than a month. According to the school system, I'm in my 6th year, haha.

Aw, I definitely hope you guys get to have a little NY DIS meet up. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun. Someone better have a drink for me or something! :upsidedow

Oh yes for sure! I really hope to meet up with Lia and we'll definitely have a drink in your honour.

Yelling out "I'm on a boat, [Word that's not exactly Disney appropriate]" while aboard any form of watercraft is perfectly acceptable, dear. THIS IS THE TALE OF CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW...

Omigosh, I LOOOVE that song!!! So freaking funny. Their songs really are perfection. I couldn't wait to get on a boat to say that, haha. Of course, there's only so much I can sing with the children around...
I've always wanted to stay at the Contemporary in one of the rooms that overlooks MK. Waking up every morning to that view would be AMAZING. Of course, those rooms cost like a bajillion dollars and I am far from a bajillionaire.

Yeah, that view would be incredible. Or even a Bay Lake view would be nice. More reason to stay at BLT!
Your Mousekeeper rocks!! :thumbsup2

She really does! We were amazed at how she got him to stay up cause he's pretty heavy.

Hahahaha, I DID have flip flops on! And actually, Andrew calls them flippy floppies too.

I was so happy with our mousekeeping. We got SOO many little towel animals, we didn't know what to do with them in the end!

Ooooooh, BLT must be SO COOL. Did you check out the the Top of the World lounge? I hear it's really pretty.

I don't think I've ever taken a boat to the Contemporary. Very cool. I LOVE what mousekeeping did. That's amazing!

You should try it on your trip if you have time, it's really very nice!
