Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Other than the orange flavour, they have the lemon one right? Hm...maybe I should try making that one next.

The orange one is the Grand Marnier. I haven't tried that one yet. I didn't feel like spending the $9 and change last trip ;) Too bad they don't count as a snack or beverage on the DDP!

Ohhh, it's the Grand Marnier!

It was $9? I don't remember that....I just knew I had to try it =P

Oh, don't think about it! You use your KTTW card so it's not money, and you're on vacation, so the calories don't count, right? :cloud9:

Yeah I had a lemon one! So good! Did you get any snow up there?

That is a great location at POP. I loved staying in the 70's during my 2008 solo trip! I think my favorite is the 60's, though. Hmm..or the 50's... ok, I just love it all!! But I do love that mickey phone so much!

I am so happy you have such a strong love for DHS...ahem.. MGM!! because so do I. I think because it resonated with me so much when I was a child, the same way MK did, I get that feeling there too.

I looove all the TOT pictures! My favorite ride ever! And yayyy, thanks for the shoutout! Looking down works too of course ;)

You are so right about Fantasmic. Do you believe there are people who start waiting 90 MINUTES ahead of time? What are they thinking? Any seat is a good seat.

That's exactly what I did! Haha, well it's really easy to work off the "calories" anyways, so it's OKAY in Disney!

Yeah, we got some snow, but not as much as predicted. Most of the schools in the area closed down, but MY university decided to stay open :sad2:

Great TR! I am just catching up and really enjoying myself:cool1:

Can't wait for the next installment:thumbsup2
Hey there! :welcome: Glad to have you join us!

Wow, your trip is coming up so soon!!

Liaaa! Now it's MY turn to catch up on YOUR updates, haha.

Tru dat! I love everything about the Pop, and I haven't even SEEN everything. I just know I'll love it.

Yeah, it must've had a big impact on you, you're in the biz! I really love DHS (I want to say MGM, but the two trips I've gone, it was MGM, then DHS, so might as well stick with the new one). The atmosphere and the streetmosphere performers, and I think the photopass are even cooler!

Yeah, looking down DOES work. Andrew actually did a lot of looking down in AK. There's so much to see.

Exactly. It's not like LMA where at least half the seats, you'll have some pillar in the way.

AK is probably the BEST place to look down at Disney. I love all the different stones and animal footprints they added to make it look like you're really just along a trail in the jungle. :wizard:

Yeaaah! And all the donkey prints you see in Asia and a bunch of others I think Andrew took pictures of. I didn't even know, until he pointed them out to me!

Chapter 16. Day 4 pt.1- My oh my, what a wonderful day!

Plenty of sunshine in my way, zipedee-doodah-zipedee-eh! (I’m pretty sure it’s not spelt that way)

Wow, I can’t believe I’m finally onto day 4! This was my oh so magical Magic Kingdom day when I finally joined the Pirate’s League!!! Ever since it was formed, I have wanted to be a part of it. I did consider it for my trip when it was first being offered, but I wasn’t about to pay THAT MUCH money, just yet.

But then something wonderful showed up. A deal. Isn’t that our favourite word here? A DEAL? A couple of months before my trip, the First Mate packages were being offered up for the low low price of $30!! I knew I had to grab that deal. I was going to be a pirate!!!

So, let’s get this pirate-y day started!

Well...it started off with a funny story really...I wrote in my notes to get up at 7am. My initial plan was to get to MK by 8am to wait for rope drop at 9am. CRAZY RIGHT? Well, all the guides told me I had to get there at least 45mins early to get a good spot right in front of the gates, which we did! BUT, I forgot the park opened at 9am.

So this is how our morning unravelled. Thinking rope drop was at 8am, we woke up at 7am, got to the bus stop at 7:30am, but the bus didn’t arrive until 7:45am. In my trip notes, I’m panicking and writing about how I should’ve given myself more than 5 minutes to wait for the bus and how I should give myself 15 mins next time. I’m also writing about how I hoped we wouldn’t miss rope drop because this was our ONLY MK day and Lia would probably kill me if I missed it.

We get to the park and I notice how empty it is. Either....I missed rope drop, and people were already heading in...or....hey, the gates aren’t even open yet! OOPS, I was worried for NOTHING because the park doesn’t open until 9am, and we were there at 8:10am, YAAAY! Well...not yay for Andrew. The day before, I got all these hours mixed up. I knew we had to get up at 7am, because I mistook the park opening at 8am, then I thought, we should get up at 6am for rope drop at 8am, but Andrew talked me out of it.

There’s a part in the video where Andrew says, “She almost made me wake up at 6am to get to a park that opens at 9am.” Yeah....I don’t look so good there. But everything worked out, right? We got to the very front, and it was very empty. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me to take more pictures of the front of the station. Maybe next time. For some reason, MK was the only park that had swarms of bugs all over the bag check tables and the turnstiles. We didn’t even know what they were! They didn’t look like mosquitoes or flies or any but we’ve ever seen. They were landing on people and looked like they were sucking blood. It was gross. I whipped out my wet naps soaked with bug spray and just wiped myself all over. These products were recommended for children, but they worked pretty well for us! Especially since that was the ONLY place that had the bugs. SO WEIRD.

This is our vantage point of the station from where we were standing. We were about...10 people behind the gates. In the end, we didn’t get to watch much of the show after all, due to my commando touring plans for the day.

Here we are, patiently waiting for rope drop. Andrew took a picture of his reflection in my glasses, on purpose this time!
DSC00384.jpg

At around 8:30am, we saw THIS behind us.
DSC00385.jpg

And THIS.
DSC00386.jpg

Andrew was convinced that it was a good idea for us to get up at 7am after all. Another 30 mins, and we would be behind THAT.

Here’s a shot of the people in front of us.
DSC00387.jpg

I’m not sure how it started. It was probably the Roots bag Andrew was wearing with CANADA on it, but we started talking to the people right in front and next to us. They were from Canada too! I think they were....somewhere in northern Ontario, I don’t really remember. They made frequent trips to WDW to escape our horrible weather. We talked about how much we love the weather in Florida and how much of the parks we’ve done so far. It was a VERY nice chat. It’s always nice to meet fellow Canadians that love Disney, right Jen?

I think Andrew stretch his arm out to take this picture.
DSC00388.jpg

Even thought I didn’t see much of it (partly due to my height, and partly due to where I was standing), it was still SUCH A JOY to hear that Welcome song, and the mayor, and Mickey’s voice. I love countdowns. Of any kind. New years, release of Harry Potter books, park openings, love them all! So I was very excited to finally get into the Magic Kingdom.

After the gates were open, it was a mad dash up Main Street, USA. Seriously, I was jogging. I knew how important it was to get those headliners in for the day before the lines got longer. Andrew took some shots while we “ran” (not THAT much, but a CM DID tell us to slow down...) down the street towards Tomorrowland.
DSC00389.jpg

DSC00390.jpg

The thing with this picture is that Andrew wasn’t even paying attention to what he was taking a picture of. It’s totally foreshadowing our day.
DSC00391.jpg

Ok, I just need to interrupt this TR to let y’all know that the Welcome song is stuck in my head right now. All because of the cds Jen gave me. It’s SUCH a catchy song! And so is the medley of trolley songs. “I’m going right down the middle of Main street, USA...” Ok...now THAT’S stuck in my head. We now return to the regular programming.

Andrew starting doing something that is very similar to what we are doing in Glenn’s TR right now. He started creating “Spot the Yuki” pictures. They’re all pretty obvious, but I thought it would be a good idea for the TR, so I let him do it. My brother was actually very into being able to “spot” me in pictures.

Sooo, just like in Glenn’s TR, first to spot the correct number of “Yuki’s” wins! The number of Yuki’s includes parts of me and even my Minnie Mouse ears. Have fun!

Here’s a photo of the entrance to Tomorrowland as we ran towards it, and me trying to hold my vidcam steady as I videotaped the castle.
DSC00393.jpg

And we’re finally at Space Mountain! Before we got there, we were stopped at another rope into Tomorrowland where the CMs made us promise that were would be NO RUNNING. It was pretty cute. Then they lead us towards the rides. Almost everybody headed for Space Mountain. Some went to Buzz.
DSC00397.jpg

Something I tried to do while at WDW was to take a picture of the signs of all the rides and I attractions I went on. I think I forgot about this goal right after I turned into pirate. Hmmm, I wonder if that has any connections.

It WAS a walk on! Of course, that also meant we walked right past all the cool new games that were installed for that queue. I did press as much buttons as I could passing it. I hope to actually play some of it next time. The ride was super empty. It was so early in the day that the ride photos weren’t up yet! Oh wells, I don’t think we posed on that one.

Next on my list was Buzz, but on our way there, I met my favourite Disney furry creature of all, STITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There was NO LINE. I was so LUCKY!!!! So, of course, I RAN towards him, being the giddy little 6-yr old that I am.
DSC00400.jpg

OH MY GAWD, I love Stitch soooo much. I told him that I loved him and he hugged me again. Then I showed him my Stitch keychain on my bag, and he acted all happy and blew me a kiss!!!! Oh my gosh, I love him so much. Look how HAPPY I am.
DSC00401.jpg

After my awesome interaction with Stitch, we headed on to Buzz.
DSC00402.jpg

I love this animatronic and how it blends the animation of the face so well.
DSC00410.jpg

Our space machines? What are these things called again?
DSC00411.jpg

I was.....worst that horrible. TERRIBLE at this game. I had absolutely no aim. How do you aim in this game???? I was shooting blanks. Sometime in the middle of the game, I looked down at Andrew’s score, and said to him, “How are you doing so much better????” Apparently, he didn’t even know about the scores until the end of the ride.

Before we exited, I told him to hurry up and take pictures of our scores. Here’s my VERY SAD results.
DSC00413.jpg

Is it possible to get the lowest score of the day. Cause I’m pretty sure I did it. Can I get a pin for it?

Andrew did so much better than me. I think about...80 000 points BUT, he wasn’t able to get a picture of his score in time and got this.
DSC00414.jpg

It’s over 9 thousand!!!!! (Well of course it is, but I’m referencing something. Kristin and Dina will get it)

Here’s our redneck photo of the ride.
DSC00416.jpg

Andrew thinks I look really cute in this one. I actually knew when the picture was being taken, so I posed for this one. The unposed version would definitely not be as cute.

Next on the docket, The Haunted Mansion! We hoofed it over to the other side of the park, all according to the UG’s touring plans. I’m pretty sure this is as far as we got in following the plan. It still worked out great in the end for us. Here are some photos of our walk over.

This is near the castle right? I don’t think I even saw it.
DSC00417.jpg

Wow, why am I so much ahead of him? I guess I knew he would catch up.
DSC00419.jpg

Looks like he caught up.
DSC00420.jpg

If you haven’t noticed, because I was turning into a pirate and didn’t want to actually pay for a pirate costume to go with my face make-up, I chose a pirate-y outfit for the day. Striped tank top with blue shorts, and an Octopus hair tie.

I have NO CLUE what I am doing in this photo. Was I stretching my arm? Showing him something? Pointing the way? Whatever it was, I turned out looking like a tour guide pointing out the Castle to people.
DSC00422.jpg

I just love how empty Frontierland was. So serene and quiet.
DSC00424.jpg

It just isn’t as scary when it’s super bright outside.
DSC00425.jpg

It was awesome as usual. Andrew actually got a bit spooked in the graveyard scene when they pop out at you. There’s so much to look at in the dining room scene. I never noticed the duelling paintings! We tried to look for Hidden Mickeys but didn’t find that much. I love this ride.

We tried to get a picture of Madame Leota with her eyes open. I told Andrew to watch for it. I didn’t know her head actually moves a bit too! So cool.

Ok, looks like I maxed out my limit on pictures, so it looks like I’ll have to save the pirates experience for the NEXT update. Ta ta for now!

Coming up next: Pirates League for sure!

Love the update.

Now I have the Welcome Medley and the other songs in my head! Totally addicting, right? :lmao:

I can't wait to see you turned into a pirate.

11 Yukis !!! Counting the ear inthe corner !!! Now to go back and read !!!:rotfl2:

:rotfl2: You crack me up Rosie. But nopes!

Great Update Yuki!!!

Thanks!

Love the update.

It is SOOO addicting. Such good and catchy songs!!

Oooh, me turning into a pirate will be epic. In epic proportions.

Shoot! I get 11 Yuki's too.

Nopes, that's not the right number.

Hm.....should I allow re-guesses? What does the Rules Committee say about that?

Fun update, Yuki! And to think I'll be there with Tom and Karin, running around for evening EMHs, just two weeks from Sunday!!! Seriously, though, your updates are so much fun! You do a great job conveying your pure joy. :goodvibes
