Lesson learned. Need more days in Disney!!! Aug 2010 (NEW 1/20-COMPLETE)

Holy cow woman! You did WAY more than we did. Half that stuff I didn't even notice was there. You are my Food and Wine pal next year! That is... if you are going to go again. I didn't realize how much of a slide this expo has taken. This was my first time going so I had no idea what to see and do. Bubba had never been either so we just stuck to trying wine. I agree there wasn't much in the way of food. It's like Food & Wine, without the FOOD! And is it sad that we didn't want to spend $5 to try a sample of something? In Disney, we'd happily fork over $5 for ANYTHING :lmao: I tried those colourful macaroon things as well but I agree they were very expensive. I'm so bummed we didn't meet up. Oh well... next time I'll have to keep an eye out for your plans!

Sorry you didn't have as good as a time as your other visits. The theme sounded promising though. I'd visit Texas just to try their Mexican food. Lol. Mexican food is just so-so in NYC, surprisingly. The lychee macaron looks so yummy!

I've never really equated Mexican food with Texas, but it DOES make sense! The Food Network demonstration was for mexican food, so I guess that's where the theming went. I'm sorry I was disappointed to. I looked forward to this day so much.

I know, I'm the worst Dis friend ever for getting soooooo behind, but I'm fianlly all caught up again!!!

Loved the two updates you did (especially the Chiiiiiiinnnnnaaaaa part and soup :lmao:) and the other updates (Halloween, bday, food and wine) and can't wait to hear more! I won't get to far behind again, I promise! Now I have to go catch up on yet another TR......

Naw, you're not a bad Dis friend, we've all been really busy! And now I have an exam and a paper due next week....fun.....

Haha, all caught up on my updates, yay! I thought the soup thing was hilarious. I hope to make an update soon. Keyword being "hope".

If only I had known earlier that you'll be going! I could've been your guide!! Maybe I'll go next year....maybe.....but I won't substitute it as a meal, like I've been doing for the last 2 years. I should eat before I go.

Yeah, there's really so much going on. But it's often hard to see cause it's SO CROWDED and some booths are more popular but kind of small, so you don't even know there's something there!

One thing I looked forward to was buying the Fontaine Sante Tapenade Olive Spread, which did not disappoint. 4 boxes for $10! It's usually about $3-4 so SCORE! I'm obsessed with olives.

And yeah, I know what you mean. $5 at Disney? So cheap! $5 up here? Um....too expensive.... :rotfl:

Well, we have lots of oppurtunites to meet up. We live so close!

I started reading your trip report about an hour ago and couldn't stop reading it, it's so good! It's very funny and I love your random stories :D Definitely will finish this one and hopefully you make another trip to Disney soon so you can write more! :)

AWWW, thanks so much!!!

And :welcome: to my TR and maybe the DIS?

Unfortunately, my next trip won't be until 2013, but this TR is going to last for pretty long.....We had 8 days and I'm only done 2!

I finally watched Tangled just now! Just came home from the theatre! I know, what took me so long right???

If you're wondering, it came out yesterday. My excuse is....I had work. That's a pretty good reason not to watch it on opening day.

It was....AWESOOOME!!! Ok, I don't want to hype it up too much, but I REALLY liked it.

It made me laugh A LOT. I cried. I felt the pain. I was involved. Yup, this is definitely a classic.

The horse Maximus is AWESOME. And so is Pascal the chameleon. That little lizard is just so cute!

And the songs! I really liked the songs. Alan Menken does it again! So suited to the story, except maybe this later part....where....it felt too much like old Disney where stuff happens for the sake of happening, I think? ANYWAYS...

I knew Mandy Moore is Rapunzel's voice, but I really couldn't hear it! Especially when she sang. I think she's becoming a great voice actress. I'm so proud of her.

There were a lot of little kids at the theatre. They were so cute! Especially the little girls. Their little voices are just adorable. I love children.

Ok, that's my two-cents. I'll be watching it again with Andrew this weekend.

Oh ya! The 3D was REALLY nice. Totally worth those extra bucks.

Is anyone else excited about the new Balloon design for the Dooney and Burke bags? I was just browing the online website and saw it! Here's a photo of one of the bags.

Here's one with a white background. It's so cuute! I think I like this one more than the sketch one. Since that one's not on sale, it'll probably be in stores for a while longer, unlike the black design with the rainbow Mickey sillhouettes.

Ok, back to studying for my exam and working on my paper both due next week :surfweb:

Evening Yuki !!Sorry the F&W was a let down !!!I agree Disney spoils it for any where else !!!I really would like to go to The F & W at Epcot by myself !!It was too hard with the Guys !!!

I want to see Tangled, too! Glad you liked it. I'm watching a trailer on youtube that I haven't seen for the movie yet and it looks so good!

Yeah, Disney has a tendency to do that! I can't wait to try out F&W at Epcot either. I bet Jiggly would've loved it though.

Oh, I loved it so much. I can't wait to watch it again! The only thing they include in the trailers and not in the movie is the part where her hair makes Flynn punch himself, which I was looking forward to watching. Prepare to laugh A LOT.

Oooooooo, I like those purses! I wish they were a touch cheaper though. One day I'll be able to afford one. In other news, how are you liking the FREEZING COLD WEATHER?!?!

Hey Yuki! Great review of the Food & Wine Expo. That ice cream did look like, ah well, you know. The oysters looked good though.

Chapter 12. Day 3 pt.1- A love affair has begun

Today was the day we were going to watch Fantasmic at DHS. I heard crowd levels spike during Fantasmic days, so I decided to split DHS into two days. One for Fantasmic in the evening, and a full day when Fantasmic wasn't showing.

This is also the day I was hoping to meet up with Danica (ZeroToHero) to watch Fantasmic. More about that later.

Since I wasn't planning on entering DHS until about 5 or 6pm, I decided we should spend the day at DtD. I wanted to get most of my family and friends souvenir shopping done for the trip. Remember, there's a lesson to be learned about this.

So, on this day, we woke up at the wonderfully leisurely 10am. Yes folks. When I want to sleep in during my vacation, I really DO sleep in. I know a lot of y'all SAY you sleep in, but it's usually relative to when you usually wake up for the parks. Although to be honest, we had only been to 1 park at this point and really only needed to wake up early ONCE so far, so I'll quit yapping about this. :cool2:

We meant to go to the pool the night before, but my feet threatened to abandon me if I tried such a thing, so I decided to save it for this day.

I have no photos of the pool because I simply didn't want to leave my camera unattended on the beach chairs.

This was my first time being in a pool ALL SUMMER. Yes, it was the end of August and I didn't go to a pool at all!! A shocker, I know. I guess I just never had the time since I have school during the summer, and the school pool is just....really icky....

Ahhh, but this pool was wonderful! Our building was closest to the Hippy Dippy Pool (this may be false, but we never really bothered to check). The shape of the pool kind of threw Andrew off because he's used to swimming in 4 sided pools. The depth of the pool was also interesting......Different depths at different petals...? The deepest was the center of the flower, so we stayed there the most.

I LOOOVED the spraying (squirting?) flowers!!!! I spent a lot of time just standing and splashing under it. At one point, we got up to check out the kiddy pool. It's adorable and I really wanted to play in it, but Andrew didn't let me. :sad2:

After some more splashing around (because I'm not a fan of actually SWIMMING), we headed back to our room to shower up for DtD. When I got back, I noticed I already had a bikini tan, and I was only out there for 45 mins!!

While Andrew took his shower, I went to the Everything Pop store to pick up all the stuff I had bought the day before, and to pay off the charge on my KTTW. I just LOVED that you could send your purchases to your hotel! We did that for pretty much everything. Except for the wine in France. I had to go pick that up in front of the park at the end of the day. But it's still great that I don't have to carry all my purchases with me all day. They make it so easy to shop till I drop!

While heading out the the bus stop, we took some photos of the displays in the lobby. We really enjoyed looking at these. What a walk through memory lane!

Games were a big part of Andrew's childhood. Heck, it's a big part of his life right now! He's such a geek.... :p

I'm pointing at the cell phone in this display. My family's first cell phone looked JUST LIKE THAT.

I still remember borrowing it when I went out on weekends.

Ahh, Beauty and the Beast. I don't even recall watching that movie the first time.
DSC00271.jpg

After a short bus ride, we arrived at the Marketplace.
DSC00272.jpg

Walking through for the first time! I don't know why there's a giant puddle on the ground there. It hasn't been raining.
DSC00274.jpg

Design a Tee! Which we actually never went in. I DID take a look around the memories store it's attached to though.
DSC00275.jpg

I'm not sure why I wanted a picture. We have a few Rainforest Cafes up here.
DSC00276.jpg

And ta dah, the Marketplace! And Goofy's! We didn't go in there today, but I vowed to come back.
DSC00277.jpg

Huh....I didn't even notice Andrew taking this shot. All the mushrooms are cute but butterflies freak me out.
DSC00278.jpg

So, when we finally found the Earl.

Me: I have no idea where it is *turns the corner* Oh! THERE it is. That was easy.

The line inside wasn't long at all! I think it was around 1pm at this point...I already knew that I wanted to get the Jerk Chicken sandwich after I read about it one someone's TR, but Andrew hadn't decided yet. We got in line as he looked at the menu and settled on the Full Montagu. I stayed in line while he looked for a table.

The ordering system is so interesting! First time I've ever been in a place like this. We ordered our sammies at the counter, I picked up a coleslaw along the way cause Andrew LOVES coleslaw, and I payed at the end of the counter. They gave me a black disk thing that will light up when my order is ready.

Andrew was able to find a table right next to the counter where we pick up the food! So I sat down and drank some water and we talked about my plans for the day and BUZZZ, my food was ready!

It came with a cute little bag that later proved to be just the right size to hold our umbrella. First thing I did was set them up and take a picture.
DSC00280.jpg

The top was the Jerk and the bottom was the Montagu. We dug into the coleslaw first and it was.....THE BEST COLESLAW I'VE EVER HAD. I even wrote down the recipe on the cup to try to recreate it. I haven't tried yet....but I'll let you know when I do!

The Jerk Chicken......it was not bad....but it wasn't the best. It wasn't what I expected at all! I couldn't taste the "jerk" flavour and it was just sort of bland.

Now....the Full Montagu......I think I'll let these photos tell you what Andrew thought of it.

Andrew: I don't want to swallow cause it's SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD.

We switched halves so I tried it too and I agreed. In fact, if it weren't for the Earl, we would've only taken 1 trip to DtD cause it just bored him to death. So....THANK YOU EARL.

I also loved the bread it was sandwiched in. SOOO YUMMY! We both knew right then that we would be returning. I also knew this was the hook I needed to get Andrew to return to WDW in the future. Once again, THANK YOU EARL. :lovestruc

And thus, a love affair has begun for Andrew. I sure hope it lasts.

Coming up: Shopping, shopping, and MOAR shopping! :cool1:

Hey Yuki! Great review of the Food & Wine Expo. That ice cream did look like, ah well, you know. The oysters looked good though.

Hey Glen! Thanks! I wish I had taken more pictures. I need practice for my future TRs.

Yeaaah, the oysters were VERY yummy :thumbsup2

ahhh....memories. I know I had that pink power ranger toy. Man, the 90's had great toys.

I'm pointing at the cell phone in this display. My family's first cell phone looked JUST LIKE THAT.

I remember my grandfather had a phone just like the one above the one you're pointing to. Those were the days when cell phones were used to "Emergencies" Only. Those phones batteries and bigger than most phone today.:lmao:

Walking through for the first time! I don't know why there's a giant puddle on the ground there. It hasn't been raining.
DSC00274.jpg

I believe this is an area where the water shoots out of the ground and kids run through it. It goes off every hour or so. I always heated being wet and cold [not much as changed] and was afraid to walk over it in case it went off. I was a weird kid. I know this.

GET IN MAH BELLY!

Yay for yummy sandwiches and shopping :woohoo:

:( I was so sad about our failed meetings...

On the other hand, I now am inspired to try the Montagu next time. I always just get the original when I go.

As PennyLane mentioned above, that puddle you saw is an area with fountains for the kids to play in. Here're my kids playing in it back in 2005.

So, it was Earl of Sandwich that sealed the deal for Andrew's return, huh? Well, whatever it takes!

I understand about the wet, but I doubt you would've been cold for long in that Florida heat! But it's very cute that you were afraid

I was so sad too....Well, maybe next time? Or maybe when I drop by Boston for a visit.

Aww, a PChef trip! Back when it was blue?

Little James is SOOOO CUUUUUTE!!!

I think I remember seeing water come out of it....I guess it slipped my mind.

And yes, whatever it takes to ensure that we will be back ;) He also really liked Fantasmic, but that won't be for another.....2 updates?
